Steelers 3'rd All Time Best QB Per NFL.COM

And personally I still take Ben over Bradshaw to start on this 53 man roster. He's the bigger, more durable QB (though Bradshaw was pretty tough as well). His int to TD percentage is head and shoulders above Bradshaw. Ben's numbers are already better for regular season stats, and if Ben had the 70's D, we'd still be a dynasty with him. Maybe even win that 76 Championship. But definitely would have won that 80' SB vs the rookie QB and Youngblood on a Broken leg...

Good thing is if Ben gets hurt in the playoffs, we can give the game to Bradshaw to clean up. Good problem to have.

Ben has played 16 games 3 times in his career and has been hurt a ton over the years. He was hurt in the playoffs against Denver. He's been hurt even in the era where you can't touch a QB. Bradshaw started all his games 5 times when they could hit a QB even after the ball was long gone. And again trying to relate passing stats is just wrong. With that criteria then Ben is better than almost any QB pre-1980. Unless you take into account playoffs where Ben is average and only has 2 more Tds than Ints.

Also do you still think Ben hasn't had any multiple TO SBs?

Hell maybe with Bradshaw we win that GB SB? Maybe they beat the rats this year with him?

I would definitely put Kordell above O'Donnell...**** that loser ****.

No Stoudt or Blackledge?

This poll is flawed...

BTW, I loved Brister. Just for his guts. He was a gamer.

Loved that playoff game we went into Houston and won on a 50 yard OT field goal by Gary Anderson in 1989. Bubby probably sucked that game (he mostly did), but he gave it his all every snap.

I honestly think the disparity between the haves and have nots at QB were a lot more important back in the 1980's and 1990's than today. We just don't remember how bad some QB's that played a LOT were. Nowadays with the rules the way they are, a good OC with an average QB and some talent can scrape together a good offense (hell, look what Chip Kelly does with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez). Back then, if you didn't have a QB, your ran the ******* ball and hoped.

P.S. I can't believe that game was 26 years ago. Jesus, I'm old.

Bubby did have a tendency to draw plays in the dirt with a stick. Seriously, Merrill Hoge said that on the radio back in the day. According to Merrill, they'd be in the huddle and Bubby would say something like "Red 32 slant, except we're gonna do this...." and half the time the stuff would work because it was something the defense hadn't seen on film. Other times they'd break the huddle and line up laughing because Bubby called a play number that didn't exist but everyone knew what he meant, so it was all good.

Bubby Brister. Didn't get to see him play a lot back in the day as it was before satellite tv and the net etc. plus i was in the army. The few times i did get to see a game he just didn't look that good to me. Then, while home on leave once i think, i see him in a (shaving?) commercial with some of the other marquee qb's of the time. . .and I'm thinking: "why does this dude get to do a commercial with Joe Montana?".
