The Steelers still need…   …a defense. Inside Linebacker has been a problem since Ryan Shazier went down, but it has (surprisingly) not been the biggest need on this defense. What they defintely do need is a No. 2 corner. Joe Haden has been impressive and Mike Hilton is solid in the slot. Artie Burns, […]

Allen IMO is rising. I doubt he is available in 2.

With 8 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 4 passes defended in seven games, not to mention a ton of tackles vs. quality SEC competition, I tend to doubt Josh Allen will be there for us at pick #64 :)

6 of those sacks came against Vandy, South Carolina, and MSU. Those schools have 10 wins combined. The only ranked SEC team he had a sack was FL. He had 1. The other sack came against against Central Michigan.

“Quality tackles in the SEC” 14 tackles combined against those 3 previously mentioned SEC teams. Toss in 7 more with Central Mich and Murray State. Ranked SEC teams totals? 5, including only 1 against FL.

This after just looking at the SEC site. Your less than observation skills are in full view this early already. Give it a rest already.

Allen needs to finish these next 5 games with a flourish, and continue through the playoffs if KY makes it.

Ike Kelly says 6 of those sacks came against Vandy, South Carolina, and MSU. Those schools have 10 wins combined. The only ranked SEC team he had a sack was FL. He had 1. The other sack came against against Central Michigan.

And Vandy, and South Carolina, are in the SEC, which is #1 or #2 in college football. Florida is good and in the SEC. So you saying he has quite a few sacks in the SEC.

Allen needs to finish these next 5 games with a flourish, and continue through the playoffs if KY makes it.

A real captain obvious statement. We'll see how he does vs a very good UGA team next.

Your spin here is transparent. An SEC guy getting a lot of sacks in the SEC is always impressive.

Are you saying that the quality of the teams he has played against might factor into his production and Coach is arguing against that?

Allen will be gone in rd 2. But I like the direction you are heading for sure.

only non Power 5 teams play weak opponents......

Are you saying that the quality of the teams he has played against might factor into his production and Coach is arguing against that?

I'm saying if Allen played Ed Oliver's schedule his sacks would be much greater. You don't really think the America Conference could stand with the SEC, do you? A reply to the question would be nice.

Maybe the NCAA should offer a Sweet 16 format for the college playoffs, this way teams in the MAC, American Conference and others non power 5 conferences can get their helmets knocked off the moment they play the top 5 power teams in front of a large viewing audience. A #1 seed vs a #16 seed, gamblers who like to take the points will be getting plenty. .

They also play much better competition within their conference, a fact not even you would be foolish enough to deny.

I'll bury you with more data. Houston's strength of schedule rating? Only 81st out of 130 teams. Talk about a weak schedule.

https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other

but you try to count Vandy and South Carolina as good schools just because they are in the SEC....

yes, this season, UH's strength of schedule sucks...Temple, Navy and Memphis who have all been ranked in recent seasons are having off years which sucks for UH as beating them doesn't mean much.

you aren't burying anyone with anything. You put Oliver on LSU (where he strongly considered going) and he would be just as disruptive. Why? Because teams wouldn't be able to game plan around stopping him like they can at UH. He would have other 5 star recruits all around him on defense and he would get a lot more one on one blocking schemes.

Stop talking sense, coach will have no more of it.

The SEC is one of if not the best conference in college football. My point was that the majority of his production was against lesser SEC schools. Before yesterday’s game, he had one (1) sack/tackle against FL. 5 of his 7 sacks came against lower level SEC opponents. His highest solo tackle games were against those same schools. SC and Vandy. Programs which are on par with the AAC schools. The fact that they are in the SEC is what makes them different. Not the caliber of competitiveness.

It’s just perfect you mention Captain Obvious, since that comment was sarcasm in imitating you.

You are wrong, like in most of your witless musings. I would conclude this year so far, Allen is a SEC guy getting sacks against lower tier schools in the SEC. How he performs in the coming playoffs will be the litmus test for him.
