Steelers 1st Round Pick

This was a head scratcher pick to me. That said Ive seen picks like Najee that I thought was a slam dunk stud. And I wouldn't say he busted but he certainly fell short of expectations. That said the part I don't get is that he's a project. They need oline help now. He will not he ready to contribute this year. Likely, Fantanau does not kick to the left this season. If this kid isn't ready to start they are not making two moves to facilitate something that will happen in 2027. Just really pissed me off that the missed field goal in the Ravens game made a 7 spot difference and they got the guy I wanted for the Steelers.......again.

This kid needs to co tribute THIS year. You don’t use a first round pick on the lines and he not play the same year.
You could easily wreck this kid playing him too early. Sounded like he has highest ceiling in the group but he's very raw. 4 or 5 seasons of football. Period.

it was all reported that the ravens could take vega. Steelers did nothing.. Freeling was falling to them , but instead of being proacive they sat on their hands,, and get the 2nd rd reach

Actually its common for players to not play much as rookies or have extremely limited actions.. even first round picks.. in fact many first rounders who start right away end up busts...

Teams force first rounders on the field now because of the rookie contract structure, but the better result seems to come from teams that start guys when they are ready and earned it... that used to be the steelers way.. a guy comes in and plays special teams for a couple years behind a vet starter, finally starts late year 2 or 3, gets a RFA bridge deal, then becomes a star... cant do that anymore though...

Meh, i liked lemon, but he had plenty of flags abd there are tons of 2nd and 3rd round Wrs that would have been borderline firsts or high seconds in other drafts..

While this guy wasnt what i was expecting, his draft grades went everywhere from 11oa to the top/mid second.. he wasnt a total reach as some say... he just wasnt the sexy pick we all wanted..

They weren't gonna start a rookie at tackle this year... and they needed OL depth... this guy will be a future starting tackle or guard if they develop him right... even if Jones were to come back and play great, he will likely be an UFA in a year and a risky bet cause of his neck...

The press conference was horse **** and again no one asks the tough direct question. Omar and McCarthy are acting like this was THEIR guy all along. Horse ****. You were on the phone with Lemon. I dont doubt he was next on their board. But he was not their guy.

Rappaport reports a "Steelers insider says".

So what? There's a Tomlin holdover ringing Rappaport going "guess what dude? These guys are idiots.."

Why do the Steelers reporters not ask the hard question. Were you on the phone with Lemon prior to the pick if he says no. Hes telling the truth because the kid has phone logs. If he says Im not going to talk about that. Then they most certainly were.one person asked a lame question alluding to it. Skirting around the idea.

I think the Steelers draft another OL early. This is McCarthy's way. Build the trenches with athletic players. I think Fautano to LT makes perfect sense.

I'd trade a 7th, 4th & 3rd & move up into the 2nd to collect Bisontis, Pregnon, Dunker or Farmer & complete the OL.

Use #53 on a WR or QB, depending on what offers the best value. Use your 7th, 4th & a 5th to go get an extra 3rd early.

Have a 1st, 2 x 2nds & 3 x 3rd picks & use your late picks left to fill practice squad roles.

Day 2 decides the success of the draft.

Whoever answers that question is doing themselves a disservice. Why throw a potential future employer under the bus?

That said, "Fo weel" sounded dumb enough to answer it.

Fautanu to guard. He’s a pro bowl guard but a below average tackle. If Max can play NFL tackle that is.
So……you’ll have to explain this one to me. How do you figure Troy was a below average RT last season? I thought he played well as basically a rookie in a position he had never played before. After all….he was an LT.
And what do you base your statement on that he’s a pro bowl guard? Considering that he has never played guard in the NFL and he played over 90% of his snaps as a LT with the Huskies and got drafted because of his play as LT. in the first round.

Yet you have him as a pro bowl guard even though he’s basically never played the position in the NFL or College.

I’m more concerned on how did the Eagles know we had our sights on Lemon? Do we have a mole?
Are you serious??? First Take and every sports show were talking about how the Steelers traded Pickens ( who had his franchise tag picked up with Dallas) and how they never really replaced him. Who needs a mole when you can watch idiocy play out.

Max looks incredibly athletic and didn't allow a sack this year. He had a really good week at the Senior Bowl, which helped his stock. So he might be more ready than a lot of people think. I'm sure he'd have been much more welcomed as a round two choice.

Still would have preferred Concepcion in this spot (the Browns scooped him up a few picks later), but I'm not too upset with Max. Dude's got plenty of upside.

We had Devin Bush in his Gordon Gartrell outfit. Then Pickens in his Shiesty Mask hunched over looking at the TV while his name was announced. Now we have this guy's brother or friend with his pants around his knees (is that really still a thing) and his *** in the camera. Good Lord.

Max Nacho from now on
I'm calling him "Max Anchor".

I don't see the project some are referring to. He's a solid RT both pass pro and run blocking skills look above the line...

Moving Big Troy to LT, his natural position, is the probable solution up front.

Get an OG and they're A-ok.

This draft just played out poorly for us... there werent a bunch of off the wall picks pushing guys down and the talent pool the way it is 21 was just not a great spot for trading or picking... i think the guys from the bottom of the first all the way through the second are all about the same

My guess is they still have a lot of high end options at WR and OL was less stacked for them to wait till the second pick... id feel better if i was more certain about their oline coach
The Steelers have 12 picks this year so I would have used some of those to trade up.
