Steeler HOF this year?

He should -- but because Bouchette will be selling Faneca he has very little in way of being presented, promoted

Greene has a good chance this year. Faneca will have to wait some time before he makes it.

I'd go with Favre, Greene, Pace, Harrison and Coryell. I think Faneca will get in but it might take a few tries. I'd make Owens wait just cause he's such a jackhole.

I'd put Stabler in as ole' timer but vote no on Debartello as contributor.

Green should get in but Faneca is not a 1st ballot HOFer , great run blocker average pass blocker.

Faneca should get in. 9 time All Pro (not to be confused with the Pro Bowl accolades), says it all. His block to spring "Fast Willie Parker" in SB XL is a thing of beauty!!!!!

Faneca will get in eventually, but guards arent ever first ballot guys. I think there will be a push for Dungy this year. Kevin Green gets in this year or next... its been getting closer and closer for him and frankly the abundence of modern one trick pony pass rushers has really opened the door for him as an archetype player

Faneca was the best guard in football for about 10 seasons, but guards aren't usually first ballot guys, hell Dawson is considered by many to be the best center ever and it took a little while

Farve is a lock. Owens a near lock. Ken Stabler is a near lock, but only because he's part of the senior selection group.

Okay, so that's three in the class

Faneca was a guard. Tough to make it at that spot early. I doubt he makes it. Pace as an Offensive Tackle has a much better chance.

Greene I think is 3rd all time in sacks, and has waited enough time. He might get the call.

My guess on the 2016 class in order of the best chance to make it!

Farve
Stabler
Pace
Owens
Greene
Lynch

But the last two spots are up for grabs. I'm sure Marvin Harrison will make it, I just think Ownes will take some of his votes away.

Kevin Greene has a good shot, this is the kind of year where a couple guys who've been waiting should make it. I'd love it if they made TO wait awhile. How can you not factor in the fact that he was a team-killer?

Greene is borderline to me. Great rusher of course but as one-dimensional as they came

Pace and Lynch are also not HOF guys IMO.

Orlando Pace absolutely will get in ... there was a stretch he was the best at his position in the NFL

I think the two wideouts will eventually get in, but both had character issues that might make them wait a bit...

Farve- Dungy- Pace- Greene- Warner thats my guess... a coach an olineman an older defensive guy and two high profile QB's

This isn't baseball. Between 4 and 7 players get in every year. That is another one of saying there are a whole bunch of "not HOF guys" in the HOF.

Morten Andersen-no
Steve Atwater-no
John Lynch-possible dark horse
Edgerrin James-no

Seems like an easy 4 to eliminate, although Lynch has a ring and a reputation

Favre-Yes

So that leaves 4 spots

Terell Davis-clearly an argument for peak value over longevity. It wouldn't shock me
Don Coryell-keeps hanging around, but I doubt it
Alan Faneca-some day, but not first year
Tony Dungy-likely a pick
Kevin Greene-seems like a lock

Okay, so Greene and Dungy take it to 3.
Marvin Harrison-some really shady off the field stuff.
Joe Jacoby-I would say a No but sometimes weird guys get in, Terrell Owens-an all time great, but also an *******.
Orlando Pace-should be a lock, but theres a pecking order at work sometimes
Kurt Warner-are they going to want to enshrine 2 QBs at the same time?

I'd say my five are
Favre
Dungy
Greene
Pace/Jacoby. Probably Pace, but sometimes this has a wtf quality to it
Warner/Davis if they don't care about 2QBs, Warner makes it. If they do, Davis has a similar peak value argument like Warner does.

Not borderline in my book. Greene checks lots of the boxes.

15 years played
160 sacks!, 10 years with 10 sacks or more
26 fumble recoveries
3 safties
5 Interceptions
735 total tackles
5 Pro bowls

Very few Hall of Fame linebackers has better numbers.

Al, Captain Data here.

You can have up to 8 in modern times. Don't forget the old timer rule.

As a post note, I did help Ed build a case for Shell.

Coach, I was referring to modern candidates (the rules on the old-timers are somewhat complicated and I really don't care about those guys). If you want to get technical, a minimum of 80% is NOT required. If fewer than 4 players manage to get 80% of the vote, then they just take the top 4 vote-getters.

Are you sure? This was taken from the hall of fame page

Every candidate is carefully scrutinized and must receive at least 80 percent approval of the Committee at the annual meeting before he can be elected. A scale of negative votes for elimination that will vary depending on the number of Selectors in attendance is used.

Although the Senior Nominee(s) and Contributor Nominee(s) will be presented to the full Selection Committee as a finalist, their election to the Hall of Fame is not automatic. The Senior Nominee(s) and Contributor Nominee(s) must receive the same minimum 80% of the vote as a Modern Era candidate to be elected.[/B]

Bylaw changes instituted beginning with the Class of 2015 added the Contributor finalist who will be voted on independent of the other nominees. Like all other finalists, a Contributor nominee needs to receive an eighty percent positive vote for election by the 46-member Selection Committee.

All you have to do is ask yourself: what happens if fewer than 4 people get 80% positive votes? Since they have a minimum of 4, they gotta take 4 no matter what.

Favre is a lock.

Pace should be as well. I really do not understand why he wasn't a first ballot selection, while Jon Odgen and Walter Jones were.

I think Faneca gets in eventually, but like Dawson, he's probably going to have to wait a long time.

Regarding Greene, how the hell a player with 160 career sacks isn't in the HOF is beyond me. I do not care how one dimensional he was.

Warner is a really interesting case. I personally think he's one of the best QBs ever, but that inactive period in the middle of his career hurts him.

Pace spent a lot of the second half of his career an injury-adled mess. He was fantastic for awhile but fell very hard. When a guy peters out and loses value at the beginning of his 30s, unless he's a RB I rarely consider him a HOFer.

I'm kind of surprised they overlooked the Harrison off the field stuff.

Class was
Greene
Harrison
Dungy
Pace
Favre

Also
Stabler
Stanfel
Eddie Debartelo JR

Cut in round of 15-10
Andersen
Atwater
Faneca
James
Owens

Cut in round of 10-5
Davis
Jacoby
Lynch
Warner
Coryell
