Went to the Steelers/Tbay game last year. Bad result, but our family had an amazing time and I'll ref football till I can't get yelled at anymore to go back. One of the things we really would have enjoyed would have been to catch a Pirates game that weekend, but they were on the road. Generally speaking do they schedule Pirates game opposite Steelers? The Pirates play Sept 11-13 (opening weekend of football), Monday Sept 28th, Oct Fri 2,Sat3, Sun 4. Are those probably road games for the Steelers? I'd look at Nov 7 Pitt / Notre Dame as well. I'd imagine that is an expensive Pitt ticket. Enjoyed Pitt / Akron (another home town loss) but was shocked at the lack of beer sales.

too early to tell - the schedule won't be out until April -- that is when the dates will be established

Very rarely, if ever, do they schedule both teams in town at the same time. Probably the only chance is to catch the Bucs on Sunday and Steelers on Monday night or vice versa, but you will have to hope it works out with the Bucs ending or beginning a home stand at the right time.
I once did a day night doubleheader with a Bucs afternoon game and a steelers pre season game. That was about 12 years ago. Haven't seen them schedule that since.

Parking and traffic nightmare.

Thanks Cheryl, but in general I'm asking do the Pirates/Steelers weekends coincide or are the Steelers on the road during a Pirates home date?

They try to avoid Pirates and Steelers home games on the same day, but it's not always possible. It wasn't such a big deal a few years ago (when a September Pirates game had no meaning), but now it could be a traffic and parking nightmare.

If you try to double-dip with the Pitt / Notre Dame game, just make sure you check in early to your hotel. Hotels overbook just like airlines and sometimes the late arrivals will be greeted with "sorry, we ran out of rooms". It happened to me a few years back when Notre Dame was in town and the Steelers had a big game too.

Kinda what I figured on Steelers/ Pirates. Thanks. I'd be a Friday early evening Al. Too late? Guess i could pre-pay too. If I'm dropping more than a thousand on airfare and another 600-700 on game tix I might as well pre-pay. Loved the atmosphere. November good weather? It was friggen hot in late Sept. Had to sit on the shady side for the Pitt Game.
We are down to Pirates/ Steelers, Pirates/ Notre Dame or Chargers/Steelers in SD. Cheaper easy flights and probably less expensive tickets. I'd imagine.

They messed up in 13 and scheduled the steelers Sunday night vs Chicago while the pirates played at 1. It was a disaster. Probably figured on the pirates being in last place by then not in a pennant run.
