I'll just say that at this time my wife and I have decided to divert all our limited resources to a family member that is in dire straits. We have been contributors in the past and hope to be again but for now, blood is thicker than amusement. I'll start to limit my bandwidth consumption and take a position on the board more appropriate to my financial support...for now.

And no, this is NOT a plea, just an explanation. We still do fine enough for ourselves.

Well SteelChip, the person who contributed the yearly subscription yesterday has named you as the benefactor so welcome aboard for another year. Hopefully your situation improves for you and your family
 
Also, if you have contributed a yearly subscription yesterday and your status hasn't changed, let me know. I did a search on the email address but it doesn't come up in our system. For privacy reasons I won't display the email address in the forum.

Just a quick reminder to include your board name when making the contribution so we can update it quicker until this automatic update thing is finally resolved.

Data is not free. This InterWeb has a thing called bandwith. That on top of hosting fees and paying for the board software needs to be paid for. If you've been on this board for years and don't donate, please consider. The board has been around for a long ******* time. The InterWeb haqs changed dynamically with newer social media formats, but this thing keeps going. Hats off to Dave, and the Canuck Buff for doing their thing.

That was not my intention but to whoever donated the membership, I am grateful, even though we were able to buy it ourselves but chose not to. Please know that that money we saved will also come out of our cookie jar and go into the pot and will mean a lot to a couple darling little uns. It is nice to know that there are people out there willing to sacrifice for others even if they do not know them.

Buff, I haven't been around much in the last couple of years, just peeking and rarely commenting.

I used to be a daily member. But after I retired from the Army, my new career has increasingly taken most of my time.

I've been around since I first got a computer circa 1998/99 or so....early stage Alzheimers is making my memory fade...not enough storage space for trivial info like that in the Hard Drive attached to my shoulders.

I once was a contributor and at one time I was a lifetime member....but as others have stated, when the board goes down, re-registering etc....became well.... a pain in the assgry.

And there have been more reboots than I have underwear in my drawer.

With all that said, I can make a contribution because I still come here first for Steelers news and notes.

PS: My only suggestion would be an app for mobile devices. I'd probably be more interactive if I could do it from my phone.
 
That's a great idea Jeffro ... don't know what it would cost to have an app developed, but I'll bet Dejan does. :cool:

I am telling you, if this was available in an app, there would be tons more interest...

...Half my problem is I am always on the move between meetings and projects etc. if there was an app I would definitely be able to stay in tune more!

An app is on the table. The more contributions we get, the more we can offer. Like Hines57 said, bandwidth is not cheap, neither is advertising and add ons like apps.

There has been an infusion of funds over the past couple of days so if we keep it going, you'll see more bells and whistles soon enough. We're just getting started
 
......And im in for a year... this all but dooms this site to extinction, but it will be fun while it lasts...lol. Seriously if the site goes down again i'm absolutely thinking I am jinxed. I am then drowning myself in bourbon and never touching a keyboard again...lol

Definitely agree with an app for the iphone and ipad. I have been on this site probably as long as Jeffro. Can't exactly remember how long but it's been 15 years, give or take a few. I have been a donator since the first time donations were requested. I even bought shirts from Diamond Dave and would do so again to support him and this site. This is the only Steelers board I come to and would hate to see anything happen to it.
 
I just paid for 6 months. Last time you didn't want my money though Buff. Super Contributor has told me you will take it now. I hope it helps. Also as someone else noted. If you could send out a reminder somehow to let us know when our subscription is up it would be a help. :)
 
All subscription tags should be up to date. If yours isn't, let me know and I'll take care of it.

I was a contributor for several years but some time ago when the board went down for several weeks and no notice it didn't give me incentive to resubscribe. However, I'd much rather see the board grow than die. Will resubscribe tomorrow.


Oh and YES to a mobile app!!!!

A certain member in the Dakotas has some experience using the barnyard hookups app....
 
BTW I contributed monthly on a steady basis until the realization the board didn't seem to be manned at the helm a while back. I have been observing the resurgence and this thread is the kick in the *** necessary to re-up for another 6 months.....which I just did.

I don't think I'll subscribe again, 6 month intervals seems a good point to evaluate the board and re-commit.
 
BTW, as far as adds go....

One of the other sites I frequent (firearm related) relatively recently went down the path of using adds to help support it.

The nice things is that they are turned off for contributors.

This makes it a win win.

The site gets extra money from the non-fiscally contributing traffic, and those who anti up get no annoyances.

I have been a member of SN from the very beginning. I just ordered the monthly like I have in the past. $6 a month is very easy to manage in the budget.
would be nice to get the chat room back up and running.
