I think now that the season is about to begin we can start tracking how the team is different going forward.

mr Rooney's beliefs in building through the draft and not relying on free agency or trades unless absolutely needed has been wavering in the org since he took a step back, but this year you see us uncharacteristicly spending premium money on a cut player, trading for a Te over our developed guys, and now trading away stacked positions rather than letting them catch on where they want to by simply releasing them....

Im not saying this is right or wrong, and we have been trending down this path for a while, but it certainly is a change of operation policy
 
I have to say I am liking the approach.
 
I mean its definitely better asset management, but the Steelers had a rep for not pulling this stuff... may affect some college ufa type signings, but probably not...
 
It sure looks like the recipe has changed. I like the "sense of urgency" in these moves. Can't wait to see if it pays off.
 
I believe Dan always felt releasing a player let them have some control of their destiny. When you trade them to a **** team, that is kind of a dick move.

Then again, I would play for the Browns if I was getting that kind of money.
