Some of the Media in Pgh.Continue to back Tomlin

Exactly. “In the hunt for the playoffs” is not a good enough measuring stick when your team is *loaded with talent*

The Tennessee Titans are ahead of us in the standings and I can’t name more than a handful of guys on that roster. I’m not sure they have a single perennial Pro Bowler or HOF player.

The Rats are about to win the division over us playing Flacco at QB half the year and a rookie who can’t pass for the other half. Their receivers are Crabtree, John Brown, and Willie Snead. Ours are HOFer Antonio Brown, and possibly future HOFer JuJu. We have the best pass protecting o line in the league - they don’t. Their running back’s name is “Gus Edwards”.

Sure their defense is on point but name me 5 guys on that defense. Their front 7 is swarming people but I don’t know who they are. John Harbaugh wins and creates competitiveness with whoever he has. Even Vrabel is over there getting something out of the guys in Tennessee. More than we’re getting out of a top 3 (maybe even best) roster in the NFL.

It is a god damn embarrassment and a testament to Tomlin’s mediocrity that “in the hunt for the playoffs” is satisfying to anyone with a roster built for CHAMPIONSHIPS

I turn on the radio this morning and that tool bag Chris Mueller of the fan is blaming Ben for the Riddley play, LMAO. He also said you could put the Oakland game on Ben too. This guy has to be the worst sports talk guy in Pittsburgh and it's not close.

Asking Steven Ridley a player with fumble issues to run it late in the game is like asking Lupus from the Bad News Bears to pinch hit late in the game when you need a run. And Tomlin defended this crap.

Tomlin on giving the ball to Ridley in that situation: “It was third down and two, we felt that we were in two down territory. We probably would have gone for it on fourth down had we had been unsuccessful had we maintained possession of the ball. Calculated risks you take. It was third down and two, we felt that we were in two down territory. We probably would have gone for it on fourth down had we had been unsuccessful had we maintained possession of the ball. Calculated risks you take." - Mike Tomlin

Why take ANY risk late in the game with a player who is your 3rd string guy, and is known for fumbles late in key games? The Tomlin man....

I heard that, too coming into work. Very laughable and I put music on. One second they said Ben was perfect and not to blame for the loss, but used a whole other segment that he should have changed the play, when HCMT wanted to run there. It was "two-down territory". then NO loaded the box with nine players expecting a run. Ben should have ran something else going against HCMT.

We'll according to this *** clown, Ben shouldn't have let them run that play. This Chris Mueller also says Ben has a huge ego that doesn't allow him to be accountable. So he bashes him for having an ego, then ******* because he didn't go against Tomlin on this play.
You really think if Ben had absolute power, that he'd even bring that personnel group on the field.

Well when you come out with the personnel we did, of course they're going to load the box.
I just find it idiotic that he bashes Ben for his ego, and now bashes him for listening to the Coach.
Of all things to ***** about from that game, this dipshit some how blames Ben.

Blaming Ben is the modus operndai for the vast majority to Tomlin backers. The trouble is Ben is a stand up guy, and played one of his best games.

The fake punt call was just as bad. 4th and 5, ask your FB to get 5 yards? Why not let Ben go 5 wide and throw it, your chances would be much better.

Yeah, they liked the fake punt though.

Ben may have been high on some passes in the first half, but he was close to flawless in the 2nd. He was the last person I'd point a finger at. The fake punt was OK, as I didn't hate it, but they go against the grain of most fans to get callers to chime in.

I didn't like the fake punt because it was 4th and 5, if we were worried about giving NO the ball back, I'd rather just went for it.

The question becomes, who do you trust more to pick up 5 yards, Ben and the offense or Rosevelt Nix who has to run 9 yards from where he is lined up to get to the first down marker. Again, taking that amount of risk over "time on the clock" just makes no sense.

Exactly

That play was perhaps the most frustrating thing I have seen all season. I can only hope Ben and the rest of the players are thinking WTF on thay call by Tomlin.

Well he did trust Dobbs at Oakland, so.....😀

Ben was a little high until he got into a rhythm when they went to 5 wide and he was reading the D and pretty much calling the plays. It worked to perfection and we lit them up. There was no reason to stop it once we got a 4 point lead with almost a quarter to go.

Tomlin has become very "comfy" in his position and sense of job security,,,

The best way I can describe it is:

Tomlin coaches like he owns the team...

I’ve had same thoughts for 2 years now.

Though he doesn’t coach like he owns the team. He coaches like a human being who doesn’t have drive to push himself to the limit.

If he can’t, he shouldn’t be fired; he should step away.

Rooneys cant tell tomlin to keep hands off the Defense without undermining him as the Head Coach. Only way this goes down is butler is let go and takes the fall. New DC comes in,, Then maybe Tomlin is told behind closed doors to keep hands off and let coordinators do what they were hired to do. (This is all speculation, I know)

I don't see much difference in those scenarios. They could tell Tomlin to take his hands off behind closed doors at the end of the year. If you hire a new DC and Tomlin's hands aren't on the defense then the players are going to know the FO talked with Tomlin about keeping his hands off of it. They will know either way. So the FO either needs to let Butler run the D or get a new DC if they want a different type defense.

I think they kept on butler last year out of loyalty they owed him some he could have left a few times for DC jobs when Lebeau was here, but damn I don’t care how they do it, this defense needs cleaned up! They thought the playoff game with Jacksonville was an aborration but it wasn’t it’s the new now and the only thing you can compare this defense to is dog ****! Players out of position, players like fort getting way too many snaps. Fort, Bostic, probably williams, sensabaugh, these are guys you are not going to build a Super Bowl team around. Sorry facts are facts. Blame Tomlin, butler, Colbert, pick one pick all doesn’t matter FIX IT!!!

I know.. Just one exposes tomlin more publicly. (not like the rooneys) . But yeah players would know I guess.
