So who replaces Haley?

all I'm saying is we don't have to upset the applecart. We can score.

our defense was total **** this game.

Yup, I'm with you, Haley isn't getting renewed because the Steelers can't score but because him and Ben are like water and oil. I'm with you 100% about the defense, they were God awful.

Papillon

I'd let him call his own plays. If Bradshaw can do it, he can do it. This offense needs to be uptempo all the time. Have his qb coach serve as OC and help develop the game plan. Sections of offensive plays need to be burned to ashes. We all know what they are. I'm sure they do too.

How about this candidate?

I know it will call less bubble screens ...
I was going to suggest a broom handle, but a can of Spam works too.

A magic 8 ball for each situational offensive format. Just take out that sweep left, right, from 5 yards deep or throw it 40 yards....example. 4th&1 or less....shake shake..shake...up the middle qb sneak or option B..Nix, Bell behind. Plow the road hand off to Bell or quick hand off to Nix..

if you don't think Haley is the problem, look no further than the TWO 4th and 1 calls on Sunday when he elected to run a ******* sweep and later throw 10+ yards downfield instead of having a 6'5" QB fall forward.

the PLAYS are not the problem. the play calling IS the problem. Obviously the talent on the offensive side of the ball is able to prosper with the plays, but the offense cannot establish jack nor **** with when and how the plays are called. for ****'s sake, Bell had three rushing TDs at home. THREE. When you're calling passes inside the 5 instead of giving the ball to the best RB in the game...

You have two weeks to script your first series and you go ******* empty the first 3 plays? Naw man I'm ready to move on from Haley. The hire will come from within. What about Munchak if he stays on the staff? Focus on the damn run game. Go back to more power I.

As much as I have said that offensive coordinators are always hated by fans whether deserved or not, those were two of the most brainless calls I have ever seen in a game.

I agree with much of what you are saying. However,, which is the bigger problem. Our offense abiltity to score? Or our Defense ability to Stop other teams.

I just don't want to see our whole offense dumped and some other BS come in and have problems. Yeah that was ****** up on 4th and 1. ESPECIALLY the sweep to the outside.

We are not a power running team. Have you watched out OL run block lately? We are a passing team that uses the passing game to open up the running game. How many teams do you see running the Power I on a regular basis, very few. The game has changed.

Yeah, but you can run better sweeps from the I.

well, if you know the defense is having problems, and you know that a team not acclimated to cold weather would be leaning on their running game and power rookie rb who has stated he doesnt like playing in the cold, you tool the offense to use more time and keep your defense off the field thereby keeping their offense off the field, too. Grind it out. Keeping your offense on the field keeps them loose and wears down the defense.

so, as Heinz said, you do not come out throwing. You come out establishing the run. You keep their offense on the sideline getting cold. we'd been the victim of this numerous times, yet rarely do the same. and by cold, I mean temperature-wise and physically, too.

should have opened with a run, then a pass and determined which play after that depending on distance. We were still in it after being down 14-0, and the game plan changes after that. Down 21-0, and the defense being a human interpretation of swiss cheese, the original game plan was thrown out the window.

their defense was not stopping us. we were stopping ourselves. not only by the INT and fumble, but also by play calls.

So youre saying Haley did a great job of adjusting his play calls and game plan,, and came back from being down 21-0 to scoring 42 points. ??

All on bens arm,, without running much.. or establishing the run.

by adjusting his game plan, if you mean going no huddle and letting Ben call his own plays than yes

If by adjusting his play calls you mean letting someone else call the plays than yes

Haley's game plan is a big reason why we were down 14-0 to start the game, because the offense could not do squat. Same story almost every game, start out flat, hope and pray that Ben, Brown, and Bell can bail us out. Coming out flat is nothing new for Tomlin and Haley, been going on for years.

Seemed to me that we ran the ball VERY well when we had Rosie Nix in front of Bell. It worked for Jacksonville and Fournette

Short yardage situations, very rarely did we or anyone else line up in the Power I as their base offense.

First two plays before the 2nd 4th and 1 fiasco were run out of the I with Nix out there. They gained 9 yards. maybe we should have stayed with it.

You can't blame defense for the first three offensive series - not totally...but there's a guy who called those plays, Coach Haley, who has to own that...

I'm w/ you Supe. But, the second 4th down attempt - a pass WAS the right call - the problem - JuJu was BLATANTLY BEING HELD BY THE JERSEY and couldn't get to the ball thrown in front of him...

I still want Coach Haley gone BTW (Friday was my deadline remember:help:)

Since we throwing names out there...

Peyton Manning is available.

See I can be funny too.

To run the power I you are limiting yourself to 2 WR and a TE. As soon as teams load the box to stuff the run you have to switch out of it to have an effective passing attack. Besides, Bell has shown he can run as effectively without a FB as he can with a FB. The FB is only useful in short yardage situations. I wish we would play action out of the I sometime, because the only thing we ever do when we go to the I is run right behind Nix, is is incredibly predictable. That is my issue with Haley, his whole offense is predictable and easy to scheme against.

Seattle fired Darrell Bevel. Their offense was good when they had a decent OL but when the OL went to **** and they had no run game, the offense just became Wilson running for his life.

Interesting choice.

He's from the Holmgren Tree, which means West Coast offense and a lot more passing than running.

Well, that's the Steelers. As long as Bell isn't wasted, not bad at all.
