So this just occurred to me this morning.

I think all the hits have taken a toll. Just like they say a RB has only so many carries in their legs,....a QB can only take so many blind side hits from 300lbers. He hears footsteps.

I have noticed that some but he has under-thrown balls also. That first pass to JuJu was well under-thrown. JuJu had to stop to get it. If he would have hit him in stride, JuJu may have gone straight down the sideline for the TD.

Actually, I watched that replay TDX, the safety had an angle and if Ben had thrown deeper the safety can get over there and break it up unless JuJu out-fights him for it. Ben actually threw a better pass for JuJu to be able to make an uncontested catch. It didn't allow the possibility for a TD unless the safety completely F'd up, but it was a much more likely reception. Watch it again. The safety has an angle that would have allowed him to cut off the deeper pass, particularly if it hangs at all.

(I noticed it because I was thinking the same thing you were, but it turned out it was actually a nearly perfect throw for the situation.)

I definitely disagree. I think its a TD if he leads him

I will say that JuJu is our best #3 receiver since AB was #3 with Wallace and Ward.
Don't get me wrong. I'm liking JuJu and I think he's going to be special, but we did have Antwaan Randle El for a good number of years too.

JuJu's got some history to compete against. Antdrew, we can agree to disagree. I'm not sold that JuJu can outfight the safety at the point of catch and then continue down the field. I suspect Ben isn't quite that confident in him yet either. The safer, smarter play is to give him an easily catchable ball and let him do his job.

Now Brown... Totally different animal.

If he leads him the safety gets there IMO. Also the throw down the middle of the field to AB, that was perfectly underthrown basically a back shoulder throw too, the DB had position over the top of AB.

Yeah safety wouldn't get there to intercept, but he's still not scoring, safety had angle and would push him out of bounds.
I still find it funny we are actually BITCHING about a 40 yard completion🙄, of course it's been this way with Ben from day one, when we win people ***** about his stats still, he throws a perfect 40 yard pass that results in the winning TD, yet everyone wants to ***** about a 40 yard completion that was underthrown a bit. When Bryant dropped that long TD vs Chicago there people saying he threw it to far, or he should've put more air under it. Did anyone watch Alex Smith last night, highest rated QB, missed throws, threw behind Kelce on what would've been a TD, totally over shot the other TE up the seam for a TD and those were 15 yard passes.

Smh

If we were scoring tds like crazy maybe we wouldnt be talking about the near misses as much. But since we arent the near misses are getting analyzed more.

It's true, we just won a game on the road where he hit JuJu in stride on a ball that went about 40 yards in the air and we have a multi page thread bitching about his deep pass.

See above^^^

No different then the bitching about the defense giving up 400 yds but no TDs

I agree and I wasn't bitching about the D I was asking opinions if people were concerned or if they thought it was still big time, and suggesting what I thought they need to do vs NE

Not you in particular. Just saying its not different. The 97 yard pass was beautiful the ball caught JuJu. So was the one to Eli. But again Ben left some plays out there that could of been big. And so did other guys Brown, Bell. Cant wait til they all get it together in one game and keep it going

Yes he did leave plays out there I agree, it just sucks it seems like we're snake bitten, we get guys open and the pass is just off or the ball is dropped, or everything goes right good throw, good catch, ******* penalty! Being 6-2 and seeing alot of plays left on the field isn't horrible.

Ben usually has no problem pointing at himself, some of these long throws are also into awful good coverage, also I think some of the receivers aren't on same page as Ben. Watching rerun of last weeks game just to many long sideline calls where really a waste of down with coverage. Ben's throw to JUJU was right n the money when play before to James , James stopped and Ben threw long, maybe because James never gets much activity. I not throwing the towel over Ben yet.

As long as they start making them cause at some point they are going to need him

Antdrew, you're right. I thought from the angle I watched it at that the safety was closer. Ben could have lead him more. I concede the point. I still don't know if JuJu gets the TD, but he has a better chance of it if Ben leads him a bit more.

Im going to give him the benefit of doubt after that 97 yarder lol

As for everyone being on the same page, that's what I'm talking about. Ben overthrows James, but James appears to settle in the seam a bit. Was that Ben dramatically overthrowing or James sitting in the seam for an easy conversion or was it something in the middle? I don't know. I do know that when Ben screws up he almost always points to himself immediately and indicates "Crap, that was on me." The other day with DHB, Ben did throw wide, but it was clear that DHB was wide open and kind of loping too... So what was the play? Was Ben supposed to throw it to the corner and DHB just didn't finish out the route because he was so wide open? Did Ben SEE that DHB was completely uncovered or was he dealing with a bunch of D-linemen in his face so he was throwing to the spot the play called for? I don't know? I do know that in a critical game like that DHB could have layed out for that ball. but he didn't.

I know that in the AFCC game Cobi Hamilton personally accounted for 3 TD failures. He had 2 drops and once he ran out of bounds and came back in negating a TD. Brown dropped one and Coates dropped a huge pass right out of the gate. Had all those opportunities materialized, the Steelers would have won the game going away. And if my aunt had balls...

The truth is right now for whatever reason the Steelers are not peaking. I'm ok with that. I'd rather they peak much later in the season. I greatly prefer that scenario.

*smile, there were three missed tackles on that 97 yarder. I'm liking what JuJu is putting down but let's not get crazy here. Kordell Stewart threw a 90 yard TD to Bobby Shaw against the Ravens once too. Far better defense.
