They were going to take one in the fourth round -- Michael Roberts of Toledo -- but someone snatched him ahead of their turn. Barnidge might be a possibility later but the Steelers seem intent on waiting out this Ladarius Green situation.
 
so we were considering Michael Roberts or Jonnu Smith.
Conner was taken after Smith.
Roberts was taken after Conner then we took Dobbs later that round.

would it be safe to ***-YOU-Coach that Butt, Kittle and Leggett were not being considered?
 
TE had to be a consideration. I would have really liked Jake Butt even if he is going to probably medical redshirt this season with that injury. Someone posted this yesterday and it bears repeating, has Green even been taken out of the concussion protocol yet???
 
Butt is on the wrong side for that equation

Oh and next year the Steelers will be drafting a TE. Because I just don't see Green working out. CB and pass rush dictated the action this year. And a off year for the number 2 WR.
 
I hear they would have taken Njoku if there at 30.

He's working out with the team at OTA's or whatever the **** it is they're doing.
 
What's the point of this thread? Was there ever any doubt that we would draft a tight end - in a very good tight end draft - if one we liked fell to a spot where we saw good value? Based on what happened last season, Colbert would have to be epically stupid and stubborn to not realize that Ladarius is a huge question mark.

I'm not sure why some of y'all are so hung up on Jake Butt. Is he clearly going to be superior to Jesse James when he gets on the field in 2018?

One writer said, the whole Green non-availability issue was a feint so as to get teams to think Howard or Njoku was a target. When defense back or LB was the only target.

If true , it worked since the Stains traded up in front of us for Njoku and allowed another defensive player to fall.

Bouchette said Peppers was the primary target in the first, if that is to be believed as well.

Well Butt was hurt, and we already have a Cockrell and Gay.

Jokes asside, Butt was injured. Leggett so some reports say does not play hard. Perhaps his football character was an issue, even though he was productive and worked out well.

The Dobbs pick to be was a poor one on round four. He's not accurate and turns the ball over too easily.
