So Spike, given your continuing rampage, I really have to ask this.

Plenty of blame for the Steelers’ loss should fall on the shoulders of Ben Roethlisberger

It's easy to say a bad rule stopped the Steelers from victory on Sunday vs. New England, but it’s their quarterback who’s guilty for this latest crushing defeat.

It wasn’t because Antonio Brown was lost due to a partially torn calf muscle.

It wasn’t because of Gronk.

And it wasn’t because the Patriots were better than the Steelers.

No, Steelers fans, there is only one reason. One glaring, alarming, easy to spot, but hard to swallow, fact as to why this team took loss number three on the year. Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger cost the Steelers a victory vs. the Patriots.

Chew on that and know it to be true. Much like Luke Skywalker denied at first, but eventually came around to the reality of what faced him despite not wanting to believe who his father was, I’m here to tell you Ben Roethlisberger cost the Steelers more than a game Sunday.

If you’re as decorated and as accomplished a player as Roethlisberger is, you simply don’t try to force a ball into that small a window and to a receiver like Eli Rogers, knowing you can still kick a field goal to tie the game and force overtime at home.

In classic Roethlisberger fashion after the game, he told the wretched media that he wanted to spike the ball on 3rd-and-goal, but was told not to in his headset. In other words, Todd Haley was to blame for what transpired with five seconds to go and probably losing the top seed in the upcoming AFC playoffs.

Ben acknowledged (after throwing his OC under a very big bus) that he was to blame for the loss.

Ya think?!

Place the blame where you want, Steelers fans. But make sure you place it at the feet of where it belongs. And that would be at the feet of your quarterback. Roethlisberger cost his team Sunday, and it’s a loss they’ll look back at and wonder what might have been if they had won.

This loss is on Roethlisberger and nothing else comes close.

That guy gets it. And it's not only that play ,the idiotic throw to Bey who gets tackled to keep the clock running gets honorable mention as well.

And throwing the coaches under thebus.....this team just took a turn...

Show me a post were you have criticized anyone but Ben. Spike has been here long enough he can have a ******* melt down if he wants, he has EARNED the right to say what he wants, And if there is a truer steeler fan on this board I would be beyond shocked.

I have been on this board since day one, and I have seen a lot of ******** come and go but you are the biggest piece of **** I have ever seen on this board and that says something. you do nothing but run your stupid ******* mouth in every goddamn thread, and 99.9% of it is to just stir ****. So here is a Christmas wish from me to you. Go **** yourself. I would be filled with glee to hear you died in a terrible fire with a mouth full of **** of those that post the same stupid **** you do.

Now in the old days this post would be perfectly fine, but we have now allowed little ***** ******* like you change that. SO I am A ok with the time off I am about to get. You and everyone like you can go **** yourself with baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire.

Is that the best you got? I was hoping for a little better before I get sent to the principle's office. Did you PM a mod yet crying about me picking on you. The fact of the matter is you got little person syndrome, I can guarantee you were picked on a lot in the non cyber world, and the only place you feel you have a voice is on the web. You think you know about everything the only problem is you look like a ******* idiot when you stop stroking yourself and start stroking a key board.

Your life must truly be pathetic for you to act like you do. You do not impress anyone but other losers when you spew your ****, why don't you start your own board and take all the asshats that act like you with you of give the rest of us some ******* piece.

The sad thing is I can't even put you on ignore because so many people quote your **** just to call you a dumb ****. Me suck as a human being ya lol. suck my dick loser..

Ah yes, the cry of the masses. "It would be too hard to keep it secret!"

It's not ******* secret you retard. Unca Al has made 2 completely different rulings on the same type of play. One went in favor of the P*triots for a TD after Brandin Cooks lost control of a football going to the ground against the Texans earlier this season. (And his bobble is MUCH more obvious than James' btw) and the other went in favor of the P*ts as well. If you're going to cite the "surviving the ground" rule, I'm not going to die on the Jesse James catch hill. But don't pretend the Cook catch was legal. And it was Unca Al who ruled on both of them. Bias was shown. That didn't require a "conspiracy". It required ONE guy who made the ruling in both cases. It was Unca Al Rivera who made the final ruling in both cases. And the rulings directly contradicted one another.

As for the referees and their tell-all book. Are you aware how much an NFL referee is paid for a part-time gig? Are you aware the perks these fellows are provided? Does it seem odd to you that the most flag-prone officiating team in the league only threw a handful of flags the entire game last week? Normally they would throw more flags than they threw the entire game in the 1st quarter. Why do you suppose there were so few flags thrown? If you suspect for one moment they were told to "Let them play" you have conspiracy on one level right there. They would have been instructed to alter their normal mode of officiating to cater to a specific game.

And if altering your calls is, as you say, a criminal offense why would you write a book detailing your activities that could get you indicted? I mean you, Elfiero, bastion of truth and freedom, may be so driven by justice and "good" but I suspect most folks would be more prone to preserving their own self interests.

And again, exactly how many people need to be in on this enormous conspiracy? As we've stated there are at least 4 different rules regarding a "completed catch". All of these rules and their sub-paragraphs contradict one another such that they may be applied as needed to justify whatever decision is made by an official. The wording of these rules is ridiculously complex and legalistic in nature. Again to provide defensibility.

You suggest "fixing a game" is a difficult thing to do. Had the referees called the glaring pass interference on the interception, the Steelers would have gotten another play to kick the FG and the game would have gone into overtime. Had they called the obvious block in the back on the previous P*ts offensive kickoff return, the P*ts would have started with much worse field position. Had they called the obvious hold on the P*ts first rushing TD, they would had to convert a much longer play for a TD.

That's simply 3 missed plays. Just missed plays. But the ultimate effect on the game can be staggering. And who can say, precisely, what lead to that other than the officiating team being told "Let them play."

Course you can argue it both ways. More calls could have gone against Davis for holding / interference against Gronkowski downfield. The Steelers only had a handful of penalties called on them as well, but they were far more critical penalties at critical times. Maybe that's just the way the ball bounces.

But you don't need a vast, dark evil empire to nudge a game one way or another. You simply need to make sure either somebody in New York running the replay reviews or perhaps the officiating crew knows that ultimately, a call here or needs to be missed or "enforced this time."

You make it sound far too complex.

2 penalties for 4 yards against a flag happy crew, including the game decide.

Yeah something is rotten in Denmark, regardless if some twatwaffles want to be in denial.

it's a c-c-c-conspiraaacy, maaaaaaan *takes huge hit off joint*

My conspiracy theory goes like this. Some parts have been mentioned here already.

The Pats***** are busted for Spygate. Problem is they are Rog and the NFL front office's favorite team, being in a big east coast market and all. Rog destroys the evidence. Theory is that the cheating was so pervasive the the integrity of the game could be legitimately questioned and all the gambling on football is over. Rog needs to cover it up. Pats***** continue to be the league's favorite team and Rog has to hope that everyone thinks they are done cheating so he has to make sure they keep winning and winning SB's AFTER they are PRESUMED to not be cheating. Problem is Belicheat and Br*dy are still cheating to win and can't stop. Cue Deflategate. Br*dy gets suspended, Darth Hoodie gets nothing and no way does he not know what's going on. Once again, Rog has to make sure they keep winning after it is presumed they are no longer cheating (again). Most of the public outside of New England knows this is bullshit. Belicheat knows all the above and keeps skirting the rules to keep winning while knowing that the league will cover it up. Darth Hoodie KNOWS he has Rog and the league over a barrel because at this point if he is busted for everything he is doing, the league, Vegas, and FF are ruined.

Do I have that right?

you ******* are absolutely delusional, if NFL football drives you to this level of madness, you need to do yourselves a favor and turn off the TV and just forget that NFL exists for awhile. I pray to God that the above comments are all tongue-in-cheek, because if not, then you need a straight jacket and a padded room, stat.

And if it is this rigged/fixed, I'll ask for the millionth time, why continue to be an active viewer of the product? Where's the appropriate level of indignance for such a "mockery" of a product? Why waste your time with the on-goings of the league? Shouldnt this all be below you deluded *****? Oorrrrr, is it because you feel empowered by spouting off nonsense, that you feel some level of control over the situation with your own set of rationale/explanation for what your eyes see in front of you?

"duuuude, it's easier than ya think, it's tooootally rigged, mafia vegas blah blah blah"

Holy **** it's ridiculous

Omar, you uh, haven't noticed the plummeting ratings for the NFL?

People are refusing more and more to watch. As for me. It's entertainment. I can live with the fact that the Steelers happen to be one of the NFL's darlings. Steelers / Pats makes for a great storyline. It provided the most watched game of the year (and in a year where the ratings are truly going to ****.)

You can ignore the obvious all you want. I could give a ****. I don't need your approval.

because there's enough loony tune folks like you who are convinced it's all scripted? Do you see how stupid that sounds when you read it again? If its just "entertainment" and that's why you won't turn away, why the **** are you complaining? I mean, gosh, it's just entertainment, you're faaaar too clever to let the NFL trick you of all people!

Ah....NO. Cooks bobbled the ball BUT MAINTAINED POSSESSION AND SURVIVED THE GROUND. James CLEARLY had the ball leave his left hand and touch the ground. Apples and oranges conspiracy nut. Your main problem is your ignorance. If something doesn't match your understanding of that something, you shout"CONSPIRACY!" I understand the rule, and I'm not a baby like some of you who now sound like Browns fans. I can cope and go on.

"I don't understand the physics of how steel reacts when an external force like thermal energy is added to it. Therefore....CONSPIRACY! 911 was an inside job...BUILDING 7 BUILDING 7 BUILDING 7!" LMAO

NFL referees were paid about 50,000 a year when Brady entered the league, they now earn about 180,000. And for the very reason that the NFL wanted better officiating. That raise went hand in hand with a gradual conversion of those refs to full time status which started about 5 years ago. If it pays as well as you think why would you risk losing that.............

And no, I don't suspect that they were told to let them play. I think they try not to meddle so much in big games unless the foul is blatant.

And if altering your calls is, as you say, a criminal offense why would you write a book detailing your activities that could get you indicted? I mean you, Elfiero, bastion of truth and freedom, may be so driven by justice and "good" but I suspect most folks would be more prone to preserving their own self interests.

I didn't say a ref/NFL official would have moral motives, I said million dollar book payday didn't I? If you would ruin yourself and possibly end up in jail for a game fixing payoff because of your greed, why wouldn't you write a tell all and go for the big bucks if you wouldn't be implicated? The payments for fixing games would be in cash wouldn't they..............no way to get caught up in it yourself......LOL.....It's called THINKING...try it instead of being spoon fed nonsense.

And again, exactly how many people need to be in on this enormous conspiracy? As we've stated there are at least 4 different rules regarding a "completed catch". All of these rules and their sub-paragraphs contradict one another such that they may be applied as needed to justify whatever decision is made by an official. So while you don't need a large group of people conspiring according to you, you do have a large group of people who's bottom line would be affected by such activity....the other 31 owners. You also have the competition committee...... NONE of these people HAVE ANY MORALS OR CARE ABOUT THEIR OWN INTERESTS! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE PATRIOTS(who are NOT a popular team outside of New England and therefore don't boost overall merchandise sales...which ALL the owners enjoy revenue sharing ) WINNING MORE lwoB repuSS........Yeah that makes sense you nut bag........LOL.......unbelievable.

So those owners would NEVER question the incompetence/ imaginary corruption that is turning fans away and making them lose revenue.......naaaaahhhhhhh.....all they care about is Brady getting more rings..........

That would include Goodell who would be removed, and other people questioned regarding their "repeated incompetence" not to mention law enforcements involvement. Again; just because you don't understand the rules doesn't mean others don't, hell I understand the difference between a runner and receiver, the difference between a completed catch and one that isn't. It's not as hard as you make it sound. Trust me wig if you don't understand something, it's not automatically a conspiracy. They have medication for that kind of stuff.....or better yet, education.

See above......
You make it sound far too complex.

Things can't be enforced this time and not that time like you suggest. Mistakes maybe made, situations may look different and you don't understand them. Again; peoples competence will come into question. If you truly think that NONE of the other owners care about losing money, or their team winning a lwoB repuS because they want to humor Bob Kraft or Tom brady....you are truly insane.

Good luck with that.

NO. Cooks bobbled the ball BUT MAINTAINED POSSESSION AND SURVIVED THE GROUND.
Are you getting hangry Elfiero? Do you need a snickers bar? He did not survive the ground. Watch a couple angles. He completely lost control of the ball, but Unca Al went ahead and awarded the TD to Cook. It's ok. Calm down. Eat the snickers bar.

If it pays as well as you think why would you risk losing that..
I would maintain you are correct. It pays as well as we think. They don't want to lose that.

the other 31 owners.
who benefit from television profits generated by high drama and suspense which in turn is generated by great story lines. WWF style.

Omar, why so bitter dude? Are you having issues with somebody pointing out that your beloved P*ts may not be actually "earning" all their wins? Fret not little buckaroo. The league will present an entertainment package designed to get the greatest number of butts in seats for the SB as well as the Conference Championship games leading up to it.

Now, will the players still play and fight and do their thing? You bet they will. But all that hard work can be undone with a single flag at just the right moment. And who among us hasn't admitted in our heart that "Hey, holding can be called on every play?" Or, "They never call Pass Interference at the end of the game." You know. Unless they do.

By the way Omar, at no point have I stooped to calling you names or taking personal shots at you. I think you're unravelling. You're taking all this far too personally. So angry. Everything ok at home? You and the Mrs. getting along alright? If you need a couple days vacation, feel free to recuse yourself. Relax. Read a good book. Try not to attack your friends so much. It's a bit beneath you.

I'm not gonna get in to the whole conspiracy thing, because I do think that it's bs to think so, but I have to absolutely disagree with you that Cooks td against the Texans was a truer catch than that of JJ. You can "assume" that the ball hit the ground in James' case. Hell, it's probably safe to do so. However, there was no clear view of it. So to say with absolute certainty that the ball hit the ground I think is a load of ****. In Cooks case, the nose of the football clearly hits the ground, and the NFL said they had no "clear angle to determine." Soooo, the NFL ruled that they couldn't overturn Cooks td against the Texans, essentially because of "insufficient evidence," but they can clearly tell that the pass that JJ caught hit the ground. Not buying that. Yes, there is no big conspiracy, but I do believe that teams will get the good, ol' preferential treatment. Hell, we've even been on the receiving end of it. The same way umpires do for batters/pitchers/teams in MLB with the strike zone. The same guys who'll sign some balls/pictures for the kids, or take em out for a nice dinner while in town.

Let me try to find the other angle of the Cook catch. It's clear as day that he lost the ball.

lol and herrrre we go... "why are you calling me n-n-n-naaaames?? Can't you let me be a paranoid nutcase in peaaaace??? *sniff sniff* " And the time tested practice of "accusing" me of being a rival team fan because I don't swallow your bullshit like a guppy, lol. This response wreaks of "I feel like an idiot and don't have much else to say, so I'll throw this ridiculous response against the wall and hope it sticks"

Lol, yeah, I'M the one who needs to recuse myself from the board, I'M the one who needs to go read a book, lol!!! Why, because I'm sane? I bet you have your entire bedroom wall covered in post-it notes, diagrams and complex formulas about the NFL and it's nefarious ways like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind, don't you?

You're calling me names because you have nothing else Omar. You're an angry fellow. I forgive you.

You don't need to believe me. You can believe whatever you like. I'm fine with that. I am not selling books.

And as for my bedroom, no. I doubt the Lovely Mrs. Wig would go for the post-it notes and yarn lines from point a to b.

The only thing that angers me is how the ******* pats are in Pittsburgh's heads, and that's only during the actual games. I can assure you I'm not an "angry fellow" lol

Wait a second post it notes are bad?

Well

damn.

The thing is guys line Dan Rooney are gone to steer the league to letting things slide for the benefit of the game... the next generation of owners are far more selfish or less influential.... Jerrah Jones breaking with the league publicly is the first crack in the dam... or maybe it was the Owners forcing Goodell's hand on Deflategate... this league has alot if skeletons... bad ones... im not sure we don't see a "me too" moment soon when the outright greed and depravity arent dragged into the light...

The pats cheat.. bad... statistically its impossible to get calls right as often as they do... and there is no way to explain how coaches who always get the call right there leave and cant even get a fraction of them right elsewhere when the league pretty much runs the same three or four basic schemes... we already have factual accounts in ESPN and other major sources literally pointing out the league intentionally covering up and lying about it... its not even a conspiracy theory... its known fact...
