So Ponder this for a revamp of WR's

Que the Martavis Bryant suggestions...

His name came up on a national talk show last night. Supposedly he's injury-free - having recovered from a knee issue in Oakland last season -- and has been getting counseling for his problems with depression. He formally applied for reinstatement in July.

If he's in shape, you have to look at him. Their WR corps needs help.

You know Ayers was doing some major lobbying on twitter after the loss to NE?

I'm sure the Steelers have given it some thought.

yeah I started a thread here asking if he could be any worse...mostly joking...brought it back up last night though...bit more serious this time.....

Don't beat me up too bad here boys but we have to make some moves to improve this receiving corp even though I doubt Tomless has a clue and most likely will not.

So first off why not re-sign Eli Rogers and immediately cut the catch and drop to the ground Ryan Switzer. Eli knows the offense and I think is an immediate upgrade over Switzer.

Second move I make is sign either Terrell Pryor or Dez Bryant and bite the bullet and cut Moncrief or put him on IR but get him the **** off the field. Pryor and Bryant regardless of how you feel about them personally are an instant upgrade over Mondrops. Just sign either one to a one year deal and address the position with our first round pick next April.

We cannot continue in this fashion and I think we need a veteran presence on the field and it sure as hell is not Mondrops. Just my two cents.

Why Eli when you can add Ayers? Okay that was a joke.

The answer is the Steelers badly miscalculated with Moncrief; however fate has smiled upon the WR’s. What are you talking about coach?

Just Rudolph’s unusually good chemistry with Washington. We saw it in the preseason. I predict Washington will become a better player with the QB switch.

Also Samuels and McDonald need more targets until the WR situation sorts itself out.

Stop going 4-5 wide. Add in the TE and back with speed who can actually get open and catch.

Right now our only plan to get matchups is the bunch. Run some freakin motion, set some double stacks. What we're doing now isn't helping our receivers.

I saw them run some motion and some misdirection once Rudolph got in the game. The flea flicker was nice and that play-action TD to Vance was a thing of beauty. I thought Rudolph sold it well. I guess what I'm saying is they got more creative once Rudolph was in the game which makes me wonder about the playcalling and Big Ben.

Cutting Moncrief would add another $3.5M in dead cap money to the WR position, they wont do it

They may not do it, in part because of the cap hit, but the simple fact is that the team is better if they unload him and get a better player at the position.

Moncrief is known for drops prior to coming here but now you factor in the dislocated finger. Put him on IR and promote one of the kids from PS or sign someone.
They’re not going to over complicate this for Mason so I see plenty of passes to JaySam and JaConn. Also think his comfort zone is Vance and expect to see plenty of Vance involved. Damn I wish we had kept Jesse James. I also see JaWash and D. Johnson getting much more involved in the game plan which should allow JuJu some relief.
The Switzer love affair I have a feeling will end since he’s not moving the chains which leaves me to Eli. He’s a better option for us but looks like they’re not interested.

I think you have to look at Moncrief sort of like Sammie Coates as in damaged goods. Isn't finger issues kind of the kiss of death for a WR ? The FO had no idea he would have an injury coming in. Obviously it hasn't worked out and he shouldn't be allowed back onto the field until it heals completely. It is just that I can't lay blame on the FO for free agents that have their play impacted by injury.

JuJu / Washington / Johnson starters. I can't believe Fichtner isn't calling better "help the wr" plays. He has resorted bgack to todd "surfer dude" hailey plays.

It all comes back to the coaching and I'm having a hard time buying that they can't see some of this stuff. I do think they were better in game 2 than they were in game one so if improvement is being displayed each game, we still have hope.

Salute the nation

I will, say this, Rudolph does a great job selling play action and is quick in getting the ball to his receiver. I think that alone will make a big difference in seeing better production from our receivers. It is my one complaint about Ben, that he doesn't seem to take the time to do the little things like really trying to sell the play action. And performing the same motion when actually making a handoff. It is little things like that that make the difference in successful passing plays. I for one am very excited to see How Rudolph performs. That being said..they need to put Moncrief on IR immediately and keep him there until his finger or fingers are healed.

Serioulsy on Eli? Dude is NOT an upgrade to Switzer in any way. He did nothing when here. He did nothing, especially when healthy. Switzer dropped 1 punt in 2 years and got it back. That's not a reason to bench him or cut him. He is a much better receiver than Eli as well. If Moncrief doesn't figure out his fingers, then maybe you IR him and bring back Eli but even then, I'm not so sure. Moncrief needs to sit and not practice for 2 or 3 weeks if this truly is his fingers otherwise, this will nag him all year just like Sweed.

Eli played solid when given the chance. He can also return. I think he is better than switzer

Nice post carbon & on point. Tomlin needs to keep Moncrief off the field for the next few games to give Rudolph a chance. The empirical evidence speaks for itself. Sit Donte, let him heal and work his way back down the road.

Yeah, no way the FO could have foreseen this injury when signing the guy. He seemed like a perfect fit with Ben, had a great camp, Ben seemed to be salivating playing with him. **** happens. He's clearly not ready to go, should not have been active first two games. That's on Tomlin & the coaching/training staff. It's like putting a kicker out there with a bum knee or ankle. Recievers like, uhm, use their hands and fingers to catch footballs. Duh. Maybe Moncrief wasn't earnest regarding the injury, maybe he let them on a bit to get out there. But we've seen enough. I'm sad to see the backlash against him, including from myself. He was an easy target for ridicule, with all the drops. But until he has full use of hands - and fingers - no way he should be out there, ******* up games. Water under the bridge at this point, what's done is done. But Tomlin must mitigate the situation this Sunday and for however long it takes to get him 100%. Maybe at some point he can come back and show what he can do, but that time is not now.

The team needs to do a better job evaluating these injuries. Big Ben, Boz, and DM. All three IMO should have been handled a little differently. If it is a matter of the players not being honest that has to be addressed. I know injuries happen but if they are hurt let's know a little better when to sit them.

you also have to consider the players may not be forthcoming about injuries.
One injury, or a play off, allows the next guy on the field and you may lose your job.
