So it was 20 million gauranteed...

He wants Mack or Gurley money. Good luck with that

How about he start playing like Mack or Gurley because currently BELL is averaging 0.0 yards per ANYTHING. TRADE and move on ASAP and DO NOT SIGN HIM TO ANYTHING LONG TERM.

Salute the nation

It sounds to me like some activist type person got in Bell’s ear and convinced him he needs to be some kind of martyr for the union. The problem is, this will screw Bell over. He’s losing money and this will not change anything with how the franchise tag works until the CBA is renegotiated.

The franchise tag was already going to be a hot topic in the next CBA so Bell is accomplishimg absolutely nothing aside from costing himself money and possibly scaring off some teams who may have wanted him as a free agent.

His stance on being used as a workhorse is hypocritical too. He’s complaining that he doesn’t want all the touches like he got last year. But it’s his volume of touches in the both run and pass game that is the basis for his demand that he be paid like more than a RB.

RBs who are good runners are easy to find. RBs who are good receivers are easy to find. It’s the guy who is great at both and a true 3 down player that is hard to find. Those are the only RBs who will get huge contracts. If Bell demands to have his touches limited then he’s taking himself out of that category.

Well, theoretically, he was getting half that guaranteed withOUT a contract. Over a 2 year period, this year's tag dollars and next year's guaranteed money would be significantly more than that and the 2nd yewr of the contract.

Why would he sign a contract that pays him less than what he is sure he could get next year plus this year's tag? I doubt anyone here would and we dont have as physically demanding jobs. The amount makes nonsense to us because it is so far out of our comprehension. Well, except for Heinz and AlleDong.

All completely logical regardless of all the sand in the vaginas around here.

Of course that whole argument goes out the window when he doesn't show up for games and get those actual checks AND show he deserves that next contract. THAT is thenshit advice he is getting.

God, how does anyone not see the logic in this statement??? Thanks, Ark!!!

Very logical if you are to believe what was offered in comparison to what the tag brings in.

Problem is there seems to be a forever changing belief on what was truly offered.

But like Ark says if you don't like it you sign your tag and play.

Two years 30 mil, sounds like a pretty cushy nest egg to me.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly made a significant last-ditch effort to sign Le'Veon Bell to a long-term contract before their negotiating window closed in July.

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the Steelers' offer to Bell included $47 million over three years with a $10 million roster bonus that would have been paid out soon after signing the deal.

After placing the franchise tag on Bell in March, the Steelers continued to negotiate with their All-Pro running back to satisfy his desire for a multi-year contract.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported in July that Pittsburgh made an offer to Bell worth up to $70 million over five years and included more than $30 million over the first two years."

Apparently it was 20 mil guaranteed. 47 mil over three years is almost 16mil / yr. Not sure how any one can be on Bell's side of things here.

I don't disagree - if it were me, I'd be playing, but no one knows the whole story. Thus the speculative analysis...

I wouldn't be surprised if he thought he should get more than Gurley. That's the thing his agent should explain to him.

A) Gurley is younger
B) Gurley hasn't been injured....you've been injured twice
C) Gurley hasnt been suspended ...you've been suspended twice
D) Statistically was better than you last year

Add that all up and you should get a good bit less than him in gauranteed money. Take the ******* deal Leveon. I reports about how much they were gauranteeing were all over the place but if i was his agent and Gurley got 40 mil gauranteed then I'd ask the Steelers for 30 mil. Anything more and They just aren't getting it. Age is risk. Suspensions are risk. I juries are risk. Attitude is risk. Bells plays is reward. Risk is negative value or negative reward. Like any assett Bells risk and reward relative to Gurley as an assett is considerably less but his agent is a lower tier agent and Bell is his prime client and obviously doesn't have the skillset to both explain this to Bell (or get it himself) and be persuasive in getting him to sign. I can add in his marketable value as a steeler vs another team or how another team will lessen his length of career (weaker line) or go into the history of the Steelers playing out the contracts with their stars and if I were to take all of that into account he's simply a fool if we didn't take a gauranteed amount close to 30. If this rolling 3 year number really contained 30 mil gauranteed then his agent is just a very poor agent and my guess is half the reason Bell hooked up with him is because he's a black agent. All that rap bullshit makes me think so. That's my long winded take

Lol...black agent. Oh. That's why Bell hired him. Rap and black. Ok

After he misses this weeks game he will have literally thrown 5.1 million dollars away.

....The Steelers say they want a 2nd round pick. I'd settle for anything better than the projected compensatory pick. I'm also okay pulling the offer if he won't accept the trade, provided we get the compensatory pick next year, which was floated by Pro Football Talk.

A. Bell has no leverage to negate a trade. The tag has no clauses prohibiting trades. He goes wherever a trade takes him. B. The only way they pull the tag is if it comes down he failed a drug test or physical.

He's a tool, and that's about it, let some team be dumbasses and give him Gurley money, even though he's not worth it. Hopefully he goes to a team without a franchise QB and top wr and everyone will see he's not worth it.
How are you going to demand insane money after you averaged 4 ypc, had a long run of 27 yards, and showed up last year not ready to play.

his agent wanted to make the deal, Bell didn't hear his advice. The agent had to accept and support what his client decided. Don't know what matters if the agent is black honestly.

These players make to much. I dropped the NFL package on direct tv because ot's.jist too much espesially since it's this new no hitting football. Pretty boys running around not getting hit. With all that's been going on in football I've really cut down to just the Steelers when their on National tv which is about 4-5 times a year without playoffs. Most of monday & thursday nights games suck anyway. So what does Conner make? Love watching ALL these new faster younger running backs come in and make Bell seem lile yesterdays news. Wait he's last years news. Ouch!!

Ya know, as chubby as he looked in the jet ski video, I’m wondering if he’s been smoking quite a bit of weed and is still smoking since he isn’t subject to a drug test right now since he isn’t under contract.

Bye week gives him enough time to get in shape and detox.
Lmao!

It sucks the Beagles freed up all that money and it's apparently not for Bell. I was hoping.

It's a smoke screen. You don't ever free up money, mid season, unless you're preparing to make a big move. They are now $10M under the cap with the Cox restructure, and today Bell costs $10M. He'll be cheaper in a week.

I'm reading a trade rumor between the Eagles and Cardinals for David Johnson. Why would they want to move DJ when they just signed him long term? Odd.

Unless they think he won't be back to 100% post injury.

Connor will make 650k roughly for the year, Bell, if he comes back, will make 855,000 per game. Connor should hold out for starter money now I guess, so he doesn't get hurt.😉

At least Conner isn’t complaining about his workload yet.

after Fitz and DJ, they have a young team (if memory serves correctly). may as well go full rebuild and acquire some sort of draft pick(s).
