Believe it or not, there was a time when ESPN NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum was in charge of an NFL franchise. In fact, more than one team has trusted Tannenbaum in an executive role. But now, Tannenbaum, the man who decided Mark Sanchez was worth a first-round pick, is mostly responsible for some of the wildest anti-Pittsburgh Steelers on ESPN.
His latest hot take is actually recycled from last season. Tannenbaum tried hard to convince everyone Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was done last season and even though he was wrong, he’s doubling down on it this season, with even more.
According to Tannenbaum, Roethlisberger is going to be bad and be benched by midseason. Yep. you read that right. Tannebaum is predicting Roethlisberger will be benched for poor play in 2021. Let’s just file that one away so we can talk about it again in say, December.

List

11 current Steelers who should retire with this team

Injury is about the only way I see him not playing. I actually think there is a 40-60% chance he is back next year as well. Just because his contract expires 3 days after the SB doesn'rt mean he wont be back.

For those who are sheep and swayed by the media,...... they have as little clue as any of us. Don't be swept in by the hype because that is exactly what this is.......H-Y-P-E for clicks.

PS

I think today I'd put a 65% chance of return. When we win the SB this year he will retire. If we lose AFCCG he will be back. If we don't make playoffs or one and done........... he won't be back.

Just my current opinion and subject to change but I did mow with my Commercial Grade Kawasaki 27 HP SCAGG Zero Turn tonight so that has to count for something !!!

(when it comes to mowers, it TRULY is a Luxury vehicle)

My hope with Ben is this offseason instead of rehabing the arm he was able to get it stronger. Also, maybe getting some better throwing mechanics back, which it sounds like this Sullivan guy working on. We'll see.

What I hate is...let us have hope. If it turns out bad, so what. We are all grown, we can handle it. I hate these "experts" who try to shatter hope.

I don't believe Ben's arm was the problem. I think he dinged his knee good and that is why he lost velocity towards the end of the year. People say "Arm" You are not anywhere near this level if you are an arm thrower.

Case in point, more power is derived off the lower body than the upper body in BOXING. Same goes for passing ability in the NFL.

100% power and velocity is achieved by sequence of the lower body and upper body using timing in much the same way as a golf swing. If you have shity lower body mechanics or you are injured in the lower body you are ******.

He will not be benched. If he isn’t getting it done, they will IR him for an injury, and allow him to retire at year end. No way in hell do they embarrass him like that.

I believe this as well. That one game where he hurt his knee looked bad. I was shocked he came back so soon. I do not think it was close to 100%. Ben had close to 0 mobility and combined with our line play led to our 3yrd check downs.

never trust USC QB's and OHIO ST i just see Fields and hopefully haskins changing the OSU trend, I not to thrilled about the USC QB rather if we get a qb via the draft the one from Liberty

He will only get benched if he regresses into serious suck.

That's a bingo.

Ben leeks leaner so it hopefully should mean more ability to move in the gun and run more PA and PA boot crossers

If our make shift offensive line can’t come through he could be right…. I don’t know, without going to Latrobe we’re going into preseason blind… sure miss that trip went first with family, then boozey road trips with buds, they with my kids.. worlds changing… not really for the better IMHO.. but I can’t see that line protecting Ben or making wholes for Harris we didn’t spend money on a coach , didn’t spend any money on a center to call the protections or anchor the line… no money for left tackle… Ben‘s a little old to be playing behind a make shift line and it’s going to be a brain *** for Harris putting a him behind a crap line… we’ll see… Ben’s been plagued by ****** line play most of his career.. wasn’t till they brought in munch did he really look comfortable and confident… we’ll see..
