There has been much made regarding the defense and the lack of sacks. The zone defense that plays soft and seems to let the other team move down the field before stopping them in the red zone or holding them to field goals. Some food for thought the last team cinci played had seven sacks and lost. AJ Green had over 150 yards in that game.

The steelers playing turtle ball are undefeated. Let me say that again the steelers playing turtle ball are undefeated. They have been giving up yards between the 20s but last time I checked the other team does not get points for those. Remember the BA offense that produced lots of yards but few points? The steelers ended up with 24 points on a bad day and 38 on a good day. They also over came some really lousy officiating that would have given the game away in the past. This is the second game in a row that the steelers have over come a trend to lose early in the season. The game plan looked solid again in that the steelers never let the game get away from them and they kept at it for the entire game. There was never desperation or panic. They got control of the game and kept it. The plan allowed them to beat a good team from ohio, bad zebras from the seeing hand society, and horrible weather conditions.

There are things that can be improved on. The Steelers are also missing several play makers from their line up. I think the guys doing the planning for the games look to be doing a good job based on the wins and the time the steelers are in control of the game. In the last game the bungles were limited to I believe 25% conversion rate of third downs and held to field goals on three trips into the red zone. That is pretty damn good for turtle ball.

Bend don't break. Hope Dupree can come right back from his injury and provide a spark. We are going to need him.

Turtle Butler.

That's what I am thinking. Man, if the Steelers can get a guy who demands a double-team on a pass rush (Dupree), and have Heyward and Tuit dominating the middle on the pass rush, and a combination of James and Jones on the right side applying pressure ...

This defense could turn out to be a lot better than I had expected.

Add in one of the best offenses in the game and the special teams we saw yesterday - I like it.

what the secondary has done in two games is impressive. Mitchell, Gay, Cockrell and Golden have been at a very high level, throw in the speed of sean davis and artie burns getting experience and this team could really become a force when Dupree gets back

I just don't think we have the right people for blitzburgh... Dupree back will help.. we won 2 games against 2 pretty good offenses. I would say what ever we are doing keep it up

Well we played Cousins, who is so-so, and we played in pretty bad conditions. I'll take 2-0 any way we get it, but I think the better qb's will hurt us if we don't start getting sacks

Teams drill qbs in blitz pickup so much that it may just be better to use fewer rushers more often than not, especially if the line can generate pressure with 3 lineman and a random lb coming.. That was the real thing about the old blitzburgh defense... It rarely actually blitzed, just got pressure from a few guys coming woth solid coverage behind it...

You know, what's been mentioned by a few of the talking heads predominantly in the relatively meaningless rankings etc. is one very cool fact.

The Steelers are currently not only 2-0.

They're 2-0

without Bryant, (which we planned for)
without Heath (also planned for)
without Bell (Planned for )
without Green (unplanned)
without Wheaton (unplanned)
without Dupree (unplanned)
without Golson (unplanned)

So that's pretty cool, all things considered. But wait - there's more.

We're also 2-0 against two division winners from last year.

How they won their division... well that's less important than the fact that at the end of the season those two teams showed the fortitude and the good luck to come out at the top of their respective divisions and Pittsburgh just took them both to school.

**** aint looking too bad. It's super early in the season of course, but they're doing alright.

The defense is looking much better than many of us thought it would. There were lots of comments like the offense will need to score 30 plus every game etc. The offense is averaging more than 30 points a game so far and that is with Ben having a really bad day in the rain. They still put up 24 points while not playing well at all. This was done against two teams that were decent last year and cinci is still a good team this year. I would not be surprised if we do not have to play both them and the ravens in the playoffs as both wild card teams could come from the afc North again. If it works out for that to happen it might make for a very interesting playoff picture, and could really cement the afc north as the toughest division in football.

They also covered the spread both weeks. That's pretty rare for us.
