So Beckham warrents a 1st, 3rd, and a player

Giants management said they weren't interested in trading OBJ and worked behind the scenes to make the trade, with no player or agent involvement.
Steelers pretty much announced they had to get rid of AB, limited the teams we would trade him to and let AB and the agent narrow the field further.
Browns likely would have given us a similar hall for AB.
Ummm again, the Steelers had a great deal with Buffalo, and 4 other teams in the mix. Then AB destroyed it saying he wouldn't show up without a new deal, so Buffalo and the rest of the teams said **** that and backed out too. This was all after the Steelers announced they wanted to trade him.

It amazes me how people constantly try to let this assface off the hook.

The raiders package sucked, but it wasn't going away, someone else would have at least given us those **** draft picks a month from now, eat the 2.7 million bonus and hold on to him for a few more weeks, call the raiders bluff...nope we panicked and got ROYALLY fleeced, the OBJ deal proves it. Both are loose cannons, but AB is way more consistent than Beckam game to game, and will easily be as good as Beckam for the next 3 years

That deal may very well have gone away a week later. Time was not on the Steelers side because EVERYONE in the NFL knew that the Steelers could not bring Brown back into the locker room. The offers were only going to get worse the closer to training camp you get. The more desperate a team is, the less of a value you are going to get in return.

You yourself have said many times there's no way Brown was going to play for the Steelers. So, let's agree that's true. If the Steelers would've played hard ball, and not taken peanuts, then what? He would sit out, correct? So if he sits out the year, then we're not on the hook for the $21 million that's now eating up our cap. It's pretty clear to me that $21 million in cap space and maintaining organizational control is worth a helluva lot more than a 3rd and 5th rounder. Brown's only other option at that point is to come in and play, which again, would be worth more than a 3rd and a 5th. As much as pain in the *** that the Bell situation has been, it's more preferable than having him tie up that much cap space for nothing. In your own words, it's not that hard to comprehend. And I'll say it again, you can say "Steelers had no other choice" a million times, it doesn't change the fact that it's simply not true. Bottom lined, we got bullied and pushed around by Brown and the Raiders, and now the entire league sees us as weak.

And for the record, Cleveland WAY OVERPAID for OBJ, and I don't think we could've gotten anywhere near that for Brown. I have a feeling he's going to blow up and Cleveland will regret this. Are you guys really trying to make the case that OBJ is NOT a headcase? Have you seen him during his career? I mean, come on...........

1. The 21M cap hit was not going away whether Brown was here or not.
2. I never said there was no way that Brown would not play for the Steelers, I have said that there is no way that the Steelers could bring him back. Brown was not going to play for the Steelers again because the Steelers could not have his antics, distractions, and liability on the team in 2019.
3. So, if the Steelers suspend Brown for 4 games (the max they can suspend him in a season under the current CBA), what happens if he decides to come back in week 5 and become a distraction, run wrong routes, go half-*** in practice. You want that distraction around the team? You thought last year was bad with L. Bell.
4. The Steelers HAD NO CHOICE but to get rid of Brown and everyone except for some delusional Steelers fans KNEW that his time in Pitt was done.
5. Brown had all of the power as all he had to do to another team in a trade is threaten to sit out or retire. The other team would lose their draft picks and the on-field production. That alone eliminates quite a few teams from the party.
6. OBJ is a diva, no question, he has NEVER done what AB has done and quit on his team before a must win, playoff determining game. Take to every media outlet possible to trash the organization, GM, HC, QB...etc. If you can't understand the difference, nothing anyone is going to say will make it any different.
7. "Bottom lined, we got bullied and pushed around by Brown and the Raiders, and now the entire league sees us as weak", again, Brown had all of the power by simply threatening to retire after the trade. Game-Set-Match. We had a great offer from the Bills until Brown played his trump card. I could care less how the "league" sees us. If we are better in the long run by not having the cancer around then **** the rest of the league. The rest of the league are the ones grossly overpaying players right now as well.

Biggest **** up in the history of the organization

LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE LEAGUE, the Art II legacy

While I agree to an extent, I think that EVERYONE in the NFL knew that the Steelers could not bring Brown back and that he had to be moved. Rooney may have put the icing on the cake, but the cake was baked, cooled, and ready for the frosting.

The Steelers didn't get much for AB. They could have waited until after FA and even the draft to see who still needs a great WR. Honestly, what did they have to lose other than the $2.5 million bonus they said they had no problem paying. They ******* panicked.

No, no, no. Don't you realize the Steelers absolutely HAD to take the deal, they had ZERO choice. It was all forced upon them, they're innocent victims who did everything perfectly. There was absolutely not a single scintilla of an option. Or so I've been led to believe here.

Cause after he left 3 days later you are on the hook not for 22 million, but 24.5 million!

If you want to dip in to your savings account, pull out $500 and send it in to the Steelers organization so they can tender some guys who have no chance in hell of being on the roster in 2 months... go for it. They could give James 1.5 million. Sure, he's signed with another team, but let's pay out that bonus and see if he's "signed with another team".
