PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Steelers have failed to make the postseason for a second consecutive year, which means the team joins a special list heading into 2020.

According to the NFL’s specifications, teams who miss the playoffs for consecutive years are eligible to be featured in the next season’s edition of “Hard Knocks.”

“With the loss preventing them from being in the playoffs for the second consecutive year, the Pittsburgh Steelers are now eligible to appear on Hard Knocks barring a Mike Tomlin firing, which won’t happen.”

That settles it we need to trade Tomlin right now.[emoji16]

I gotta say I'd be excited to see it. I think we would all get a much better view of this team. They edit the **** out of it? But in the Browns one we learned exactly how big a ******** Haley was. I would like to see Tomlin interact with the players and the level of detail there is in his coaching. Make it so.

I would love to see the Steelers on Hard Knocks. Bring it on.

I'd watch it. My wife, oddly enough, loves the show. She loves to see the prima donnas get screamed at.

i saw eligible teams are DET, ARZ, DEN, and PIT.

Which of those teams will bring in the most ratings. Has to be DEN or PIT.

This team does not need another three ring circus in town.

With the clown gone, PIT would be the most boring selection. DEN seems logical to me, with Elway and a QB controversy, i.e. Flacco’s release.

Arizona is very intriguing with Kliff and Murray. However, they've already done the All or Nothing show.

No intrigue with Detroit or Denver.

Steelers blow the other teams away. They have the most quotable head coach. Ben Roethlisberger is coming back. JuJu loves the camera. TJ Watt. A young defensive star in the making with Devin Bush. How can a proud franchise get back to the playoffs? Beyond anything else, Saint Vincent College is one of the special locations for training camp and everyone would love an inside look at how the Steelers operations work.

Nope! It's like the cover of Madden. Don't want it and don't want to see it. Just fix the areas we need fixed and bring back a healthy Ben. That's all I want to see.

They know an opportunity to get the Steelers is rare and a ratings bonanza even without the whole Ben returning from injury storyline. 99.9% chance it's the Steelers.

This is all but a done deal, Steelers bring ratings, and Ben trying to come back from injury will give them something to really focus on.

Plus Duck, Rudy and Saint Minkah, saviour of the D and Tomlin's job.

If Minkah scored a couple more times late in the season, like in the Jets game, we are in the playoffs.....if he scored a couple less times, Tomlin would be 6-10, 5-11 and "on the hotseat" now.

they know our huge fan base will watch.

Have to admit......have never watched one Hard Knocks episode. I would think with the Steelers fan base,I am sure the Network top brass would think of this as a no brainer. Would it not add just more off season pressure, expectations,we just don’t need ?

I come to this Steeler Nation forum to get the “hard knocks”on my team.

If nothing else, it will certainly help confirm fan bias for or against certain coaches and players. Bring on the cameras!

I would say that if it doesn't happen you could bet your house it was vetoed by the Rooney family. Between the large fan base, recent dramas, aging QB it would be a no brainer. Knowing where all the bodies are buried will probably stop it from happening. For those of us who would like to see a coaching staff change, I think it would be a step in that direction. Having their franchise lumped in with the shitstains, Raiders and Buccaneers would be a bitter pill to swallow.

No question. Steelers are the choice. All you have to do is watch (or attend) a few away games and note the size of Steeler Nation. That potential ratings bonanza is just too big for HBO to ignore.

I'd watch it, but all of us who want to see it in order to gain a better perspective on how Tomlin runs things are going to be disappointed.

I can assure you that **** is going to be edited in a way that makes him look like Lombardi.

Are the Steelers obliged to let them do the documentary?

Are the Steelers obliged to let them do the documentary?

yes. the only exemptions i know about are for teams who have a first year head coach and teams who were in the playoffs the last two years.

If it was the Steelers, I would definitely watch.

Some of the best parts of Hard Knocks is seeing how the coaching works. I have my doubts about Tomlin and his staff and I'm not sure looking behind the curtain at them will be flattering.

I think Hard Knocks definitely contributed to Cleveland firing Hue Jackson and Todd Haley. That was like watching a train wreck.

It could be good or bad for Tomlin. It might show him in a light we haven’t seen. Maybe for better or worse we would see what kind of coach he really is. Might change some minds around here just not sure which way. I just know I would watch it.

Obliged ;) of course. I'm sure they are but there are always people with more sway towards the decision makers. I would assume that would include the Rooneys.

I hate to say it but I've never seen an episode of HK. Couldn't the Steelers pretty much control the narrative by not being dumbasses while the cameras are rolling or are they rolling pretty much 24/7 during training camp? If so I'd like to get some insight into what's going on, but only so long as its relatively true to form and not scripted Hollywood BS.
