Should Tyreek Hill even be in the NFL?

I'm really iffy on judging folks based on media reports.

Joe Mixon was attacked by a crazy woman and knocked her cold. All the media talks about is him hitting her, and ignores the fact that she committed a crime by attacking him.

I don't know the genuine circumstances of Hill's case. For all we know the broad was after him with a rolling pin. The media would conveniently leave that out of a story like this.

So I'm really iffy on judging people.

Holy crap...nice ******* guy.

Well whether he "should" be in the league is not really relevant -- he is. Someone gave him a chance and that is what matters. If he burns us for a long TD or two, it won't matter if he "should" be out there or not, so I just hope the Steelers have a plan of attack for him. I'm just glad to hear that the victim has since recovered and seems to be doing okay

You have to be some kind of messed up to punch a pregnant woman in the stomach, let alone his girlfriend carrying his own kid.

Yeah, I think so. Even though beating up women is dispicable, everybody should get second chances. Give people a chance to prove they changed. Wives and girlfriends might be more reluctant to report abuse if they banned every guy accused of DV.

From the story, sounds like he plead guilty to the felony rather than pleading it down to something else.

I guess what happened was before he was in the NFL, so the NFL as an organization can't punish him. I wouldn't have drafted him if it was me.

Like SV, I try to be careful about how I judge DV incidents as reported in the media. Back in my younger days watching my dad beat the **** out of my mom and I, we couldn't even get the cops to show up. These days, they show up because people heard yelling. The man is 90% sure to be considered at fault regardless of what happened.

In general, I think you should avoid hitting a woman, regardless of her behavior. The obvious caveat, is if you think your life or physical well being are in danger. Woman slaps me, I don't hit her. Comes at me with a knife, she is in trouble. Even in the second incident, I expect I'd have to prove my side of the story while hers would be taken at face value.

OTOH, how egregious does it have to be for someone to not want him on the team? Hitting a pregnant woman in the stomach and choking her seems a pretty bright line, to me. Ray Rice's clocking the woman, knocking her out (did he drag her out of the elevator) seems to be a pretty easy line to draw.

What if he just slaps her, with open hand? No bruises, nothing. Anyone can get pissed off and do something stupid. If no one gets hurt, was it a one time thing or a pattern?

What if the charges are dropped and/or not dropped, but there is no conviction?

I think the NFL goes with whatever the flow of the media hype of the story is rather than based upon the facts at hand and that is ****** up.

You realize they're going to punt to him, right? I'd be amazed (and happy) if they didn't.
In game 1 they pretty consistently punted out of bounds.

Is this SI's new thing? Damning people who watch a team and cheer when a guy scores? They do realize that there are many athletes that are not choir boys, right? Maybe sports rags like SI should stop pimping sports, right SI?

Like others, I believe in second chances. However, no one talks about what he did and yet we have articles last week on stuff from Ben's past for which he was never convicted. This guy is guilty yet it's as if it went away. Also, Ray Rice was out of the league over something perhaps not as heinous as what Hill did.

Against Miami we didn't punt until the 4th quarter. I kinda like THAT plan...

that D and the KC D, two different monsters.

IN the last 6 games Miami had given up the most yards on D< in the NFL.

Ben will need to be on his game in this matchup.

This has been going on for years with sports journalists. They like to get all high and mighty and preach to fans that sports, in the grand scheme of things, are not that important. They use different avenues to get that point across. Basically, that fans are stupid for being so involved with their teams. They, the sports journalists, are so much above that.

We all know it isn't that important in the grand scheme, but dammit, so what? It's fun to get passionate about the Steelers or whoever your team is. We don't hurt anybody. More importantly, it is an diversion for 3-4 hours from everyday problems. Quit preaching to us.

My only question to them would be, "If sports really aren't that important, where does that put the people who write or talk about sports?"

It's amazing how many KC fans in my area who don't know this piece of trivia...................................................

I hear ya'...but what Mixon did was beyond understandable.
He didn't have to cold **** the much smaller girl. You better have a damm good excuse for doing that to a female that is literally half of your weight.
Sorry, can't accept that one. It's not like it was heresay. The video speaks for itself.

Should the lady be cited as well? Absolutely.
However, no excuse for what Mixon did. NONE

well, if Hill does get a breakaway and we have just William Gay between him and the end zone... who ya got?
