The Pittsburgh Steelers projected picks have been inconsistent to say the least. Some say pursue the defense heavy class in the first and second round, while other fans are calling for a new wide receiver or quarterback to build depth at these positions. The debate is hot between Steelers fans, and it will only get […]

No No No.

If he is sitting there at 28, maybe but no way do I trade up for him. In fact, I would think about trading back, if the right trade were there.

If Shazier is 100%, I'd say if he is BPA draft him. With Shazier likely done and our defense needing an upgrade, the best course is via the draft. I banged the draft a QB drum hard last season. We have a very small window to get another ring with Ben still in town. We need to get that done now and hopefully we can readdress the QB position going into the 2019 draft as 7 time Super Bowl Champions.

The reason i say "No" is that he has a ton of TD's, but he only has 18 or so more passing than he has rushing. That makes me wonder two things:

1. Does he run so much becuse he cant read a D or because his other offensive players suck. That many TD's is pretty impressive, though.
2. He is listed at 205-211lbs. Cam Newton still seems to run a lot and has held up, but he seems quite a bit bigger, How does Jackson put on weight to avoid the damage and still maintain his athleticism or is he going to get killed? Watson is listed at under 220. Didn't make it a season, but it was a non-contact injury, so it is hard to tell if that makes as much a difference.

I want a guy who is good sized like Cam or Ben, can run if he has to, but is, primarily a passing QB.

I think he was their O as the WRs were not all that. If he was BPA you trade down or pick him. If he knocks a QB off the roster in the process? So be it.

Most of his runs are designed runs

I don't know what everyone is saying no so adamantly about. I know we have Defensive needs.

IMO the guy is the best athlete on his team. He was making things happen the best maybe only ways he had.

We're talking about Louisville here. Its not like its O state Or Alabama.

That said I would take Jackson over Ohio States JT Barrett.

Definitely a no from me. Running QBs rarely work in the NFL and I dont think Jackson is accurate enough from the pocket. I would definitely take Jackson over Barret but dont want either one. Just give me a sturdy accurate pocket passer.

I don't know, a pocket passer is what today's NFL is all about. Sure if everything breaks down, then scidaddle. Pass first then run.

Salute the nation

.

The guy does not even have a SINGLE season above 60% in completions... 55%, 56% and 59%. And those numbers are in college? Yikes! I know he is an athletic freak with a rocket launcher for an arm... but still. I understand that he had a less talented team around him... but wow! Ben is 35. What if he wants to play another 4 years? I just don't see that this is the year to draft a QB.

Thant said... if the Steelers think this is their guy? They have shown a pretty good track record in the early rounds. Maybe this guy could add some help as a part time receiver early in his career? Just spit-balling.

absolutely not. the fact that it is even posed as a question is ridiculous.

I like your thinking

Okay, I don't watch a ton of college football but he's clearly one standard deviation in speed ahead of where most guys are. He's 6'3" so he's not a midget like Vick or Manziel or any of the other running guys. It's a luxury pick for sure, but if he's willing to contribute in any other number of facets and learn how to play pro style QB I'd strongly consider it depending on how many other positions we end up needing to fill. He'd also probably make a helluva cornerback, not that anyone will try to convert him there.

well coach said he don't want him so which do I believe?

That is because coach is waiting for that trade up resulting from the two draft picks we got from Cleveland for trading bell. No way we will target Lamar as we are apparently picking Barkley.

**** a watching game tape, Walter Football is our huckleberry.

Neither did Allen and he is under consideration to be picked no 1
