Should Steelers go after Jim Harbaugh?

Last edited:
Jim Harbaugh hasn’t won **** as a coach. He inherited Andrew Luck at Stanford and mostly squandered his talent by having him hand off 40 times a game.

Then he inherited a 49ers team where Singletary had built an elite defense and a great OL. Harbaugh installs Kaepernick and runs a college offense the NFL wasn’t ready for and it worked for 1 season. Then right back to **** and Harbaugh left before it fell apart.

at Michigan, he inherited a loaded team. The previous coach Brady Hoke had recruited some great classes that were juniors and seniors under Harbaugh. He got all this credit for an amazing turnaround but fact is he underachieved. Michigan has 10 guys drafted and he didn’t even win the Big Ten.

He’s a supposed QB guru but where is the evidence of that? QB has been the weak point for Michigan and they have has some big recruits. Again this year, Shea Patterson was supposed to have this huge year and he hasn’t looked that good so far.

When Bowman and the one OL went down, his team went to ****. Drafted Kap, Drafted a stud LB who retired after 1 or 2 years.

**** all Garbages.

He beat Hoodie in a playoff game . Cowher was 5-1 with Ben in the playoffs. Tomlin is 3 for his last 9 with Ben in the playoffs.

When he was at Cleveland fuckhead. I guess you are hoping no one knows that part.

Tomlin has beaten the Brady/Bellicheck combo more than Cowher and there is no one that will tell you the Tomlin defenses were better. Yet the Brady/Bellicheck combo still scored points on those better defenses. Why, you ask? Well, they were cheating back then, too.

No to Haraugh! Although if I could trade Tomlin for Harbaugh right now, I would do it. ****, I would trade Tomlin for literally anyone!

Coaches I'd like:

Bill Cowher
Tony Dungy
Brian Billick
Tom Coughlin

Come on... 10 years too late on those names. At least. They were washed up in 2010.

We all know if this team fires Tomlin, Byron Leftwich is our next head coach. You wait and see.

Wow, I’m new here and this is the 1st thing I have noticed. Not sure how long I will stay.

Stay long enough to know the door will hit you in the *** on the way out.

I do wonder if Billick could do something in today's NFL.

Tomlin isn't going anywhere before end of season, so this is all, of course, just speculative fun. Pretending for a moment it does go this route, I don't have specific names. I do know I would want a young offensive minded coach. I grew up on Steel Curtain and have a deep love of hard hitting defense, but that just isn't this game anymore. It is a passing man's game and I want a coach who knows how to put together a passing attack from X's and O's to getting and developing QB's, WR's and RB's. Ben is in the twilight of his career so start thinking ahead to what kind of leader and system you want post Ben. I love defense as much as the next yinzer, but I also know the game isn't what it was.

About a year ago, when the "replace Tomlin" discussion was heating up yet again, I said I would like to have a former coach with a reasonable track record come in and take over ...

Jon Gruden.

Wish the Steelers had done just that. Gruden tore apart that Oakland roster, has 12 first-year players and another 8 with 1 year of experience on it right now, and his team looked vastly more prepared than did the Steelers.

Jay Gruden will probably be available. I actually think he’s doing a good job in Wash but he has no QB and they don’t have much talent. Drafted Guice last year and he was injured.

we’ll see if Haskins works out at QB but they may have hit on some WRs.

And he did it with the distractions of Hard Knocks and the AB shitshow.

Our scheme is old and tired. We definately need a changing of the gaurd and NOT an internal promotion. Anyone who keeps a STs coach who ranked 27th in the league should not have a safe seat from which to work.

The jury is still out on Gruden's success with the raiders but a shake up to that nature is what it will take to get this "stiff, underperforming" team back to the STEELERS we know and dearly love.

We know nothing is going to change this year and probably not til BEN retires then maybe a clean slate at that time. BEN is not the problem but a shake up now would be very diadvantagous to our chances..

To me, with our ownership and having a black head coach we will never see him fired or let go until HE decides to move on. Getting rid of Tomlin would be like executing the last unicorn or bald eagle or something.

The namesakes of the Rooney Rule are never going to fire their Rooney Rule hire. Shades would have to be .500 or less for three seasons in a row and even then they wouldn't fire him they just wouldn't renew his contract. LeBeau, The Bruce, Toddster, none were fired they just didn't renew their contracts.

Shades just got extended for a year so he will be here this year, 2020, and 2021 at least. Doesn't matter how bad he ***** up, he isn't going anywhere unless he leaves on his own.

The white pittsburgh beat writers would have to find their nuts and criticize the black head coach like Mark Madden would do, in order to draw the attention of the Rooneys.

They won't because then they'd be denied access. Madden doesn't care because he doesn't go to the pressers or locker room anyway.

do we have examples where this has happend? Or is this just speculation and an overwhelming need for the writers to want to fit in?

that would be petty and cheap to deny media access because the steelers didnt like the story / truth

It's hard to prove a negative but given that the major beat writers are never very critical of Shades or the team, and the only one who sometimes is critical doesn't go to the Steelers facility and doesn't care, the circumstantial evidence is strong.

Back to the OP, I'd still take Shades over a Hairball Brother any day.

It’s not limited to steelers beat writers or even sports. There’s even a term, “Access Media". Basically it refers to media people whose jobs depend on getting direct access to their subject and as a result, they tend to only write glowing stories about them to keep their access.

This is very prevalent in entertainment media where they will give glowing reviews to **** movies just to keep access.

It’s part of why independent media is gaining influence over mainstream media. Because so much of the mainstream is just propaganda and if you want some real facts, you have to get it from independent media.

This is has not gone unnoticed and it is why YouTube, Facebook and others are currently taking steps to try to crush independent content and promote mainstream content. It’s scary stuff straight out of 1984.
