Shazier had a great game. But I noticed Shazier could barely get up and wobbled for about three steps while blocking for Golden's interception. This is concerning as Shazier was diagnosed with a concussion in late November.

While teams might hide a player's injury, the NFL has instituted a medical examiner ( Wearing the blue hat ). Was Shazier's report from the NFL examiner ever issued?

Shazier who was concussed recently was walking around like a drunken sailor just two days ago. No need for concern here. What is Tomlin going to say? He's got a little boo-boo?

Were you watching him from Fla. or were you in the training room?

I believe Shazier continued to play the game after that INT return, so I'm not concerned.

Tomlin didn't mention Shazier in the presser. We'll have to see what - if anything - the practice reports say. All we know is 1) he had a concussion against the Seahawks and went into the protocol 2) he passed the tests and played in the next game vs. the Colts and 3) he looked woozy after delivering a bit hit against Bengals on Golden's INT and that was the last we saw of him on defense (Bengals had one more drive in which the Steelers had a lot of backups on the field).

Appreciate the update. Anyone who got their bell rung so close to a concussion needs to be closely monitored.

Are you referring to Shazier or yourself?? Just joking Coach.

I think if Shazier was in the protocol again, Tomlin would have mentioned it in his presser. He acted like Mike Mitchell is the only guy with an injury that is more than "bumps and bruises" but said he thought Mitchell was going to be able to play.

You CAN get dung and not have a concussion.

Yea know, I am not sure on this; I have heard it both ways. Andre Reed was on First Take and he said he had over 100 "concussions" but only two that laid him out. So, in his mind, every time you are dinged is a concussion.

I have "seen white" and lost consciousness briefly and kept playing, without any effects after the brief white out, like 5-10 seconds. I don't feel like I was concussed but did get dinged. So...IDK.

I think Shazier fits grade 1.

Concussions are fairly common. Some estimates say a mild brain trauma is sustained every 21 seconds in the U.S. But it's important to recognize the signs of a concussion so you can take the proper steps to treat the injury.

There are some common physical, mental, and emotional symptoms a person may display following a concussion. Any of these could be a sign of traumatic brain injury:

confusion or feeling dazed
clumsiness
slurred speech
nausea or vomiting
headache
balance problems or dizziness
blurred vision
sensitivity to light
sensitivity to noise
sluggishness
ringing in ears
behavior or personality changes
concentration difficulties
memory loss

Concussions are graded as mild (grade 1), moderate (grade 2), or severe (grade 3), depending on such factors as loss of consciousness, amnesia, and loss of equilibrium.

In a grade 1 concussion, symptoms last for less than 15 minutes. There is no loss of consciousness.

With a grade 2 concussion, there is no loss of consciousness but symptoms last longer than 15 minutes.

In a grade 3 concussion, the person loses consciousness, sometimes just for a few seconds.

I think the NFL will let grade 1 slide at times. What did the guy in the blue hat say?

Well I didn't see video of him in the locker room calling out for "Huuuuggghhhh!" like O-Stinko so Im gonna save my opinion on this.

Considering that a concussion is actually a low grade brain trauma, i wouldn't take anything too lightly.

We will hear more during the week after a few practices.

He didn't practice again yesterday with a knee. He damn well better practice today or it looks like he will miss another game due to a phantom injury.

Haha.. I forgot about that, too funny.

We'll be fine - ILB is not a major problem on this team. Shaz is only in his second year - so, we're not breaking the bank because he's in the tub...

If this was about one of our DB's - then I could see a problem.

The knee has been an issue for awhile and he's missed practice here and there for it, but I believe he'll be starting on Sunday.

I ponder if the Steelers listed the injury as a knee, but it's really concussion related. Most teams are not 100% honest with their injury report and would not want to raise a red flag on even the mildest connsussions unless that have to.

It's a bit like NASCAR, no car is 100% legal.

Shazier looked pretty fast out there last week. When did he hurt his knee?

Wed in practice evidently.

The issue with hiding a concussion is there are rules in place to penalize the team if you do so. It's not our team's MO to be shifty about injuries. Leave that for the Patriots.

Shazier is listed as Probable. All injured Steelers are Probable.

So Coach, your speculation is moot. ;)

Tomlin is giving Shazier rest each week to help him stay healthy:
