Shazier hurt again...

I think this will be similar to the Lacy vs Bell debate. Lacy is a fat tub who runs straight through big holes against defenses that are scared of Aaron Rodgers. Bell is a game changer who creates offense from nothing and is a matchup nightmare.

Mosley is a good player but he's limited. He's a run stuffer and can cover in a limited area. Shazier will be a versatile weapon if he can stay healthy. He will be able to match up against TEs, big WRs, RBs in man and zone. He is a 3 down player.

Mosley is a more talented Vince Williams.

I agree, but with Shazier staying healthy has been and currently might be an issue. The Rats player has been excellent and healthy.

Bell vs Lacy is a good debate. Both are very good backs. I think Lacy is the better pure runner and red zone threat, and Bell is the better pass catcher.

However Bell has already been suspended once. If he screws up again, Steeler fans might wish we had picked the other guy.

How the heck did Boykin get hurt he didn't even play! Shazier needs to F'in man up and play like a man! Pain is a part of everyday life in the NFL. If the kid can't handle the heat he better get outta the kitchen!

My guess with Boykin was he was probably injurec before the season started. Could be why he didnt play

How do you figure?

Lacy is just a bruiser. Bell offers tons more versatality

As a runner here are their career numbers.

Lacy has 2,402 yards, 21 TD's, and 4.4 yards per carry.

Bell has 2,221 yards, 16 TD's, and 4.2 yards per carry.

I think Lacy is a bit better as a runner, better in the red zone, and to date has a slightly higher yards per carry.

Bell is better a a pass catcher.

The Bell Lacy debate pretty much looks like a can't miss either way at this point. Probably comes down to who's style fits their team better. I like Bell.

Bell is not going to have any more issues with pot. He's going to be an effective player for longer than Lacy because Lacy's style leads to taking a bigger pounding. Bell caught 83 passes last season, he doubled up Lacy in receiving yards.

I hope you are correct. I heard similar stuff with S. Holmes. Pot can be addictive. The reality is we simply don't know what NFL players do off the field in private and neither do 98% of the sports reporters until an incident happens.

Bryant for example has major issues in pot. Who would have said that last before he was suspended?

Shazier was limited in practice today. As was Cortez Allen. Boykin did not practice at all. Everyone else practiced fully.

It's looking like Gay and Blake will start at CB on Sunday. The #3 CB will be either Cortez or Ross Cockrell. The 49ers did not use many 3 WR sets on Monday night so the #3 CB shouldn't see the field too much.

Quick question ... did you factor the games that Bell missed due to injury during his rookie season into your analysis. Because what you're showing me is that in three less games (4 if you used "to date" totals), Bell has almost equaled Lacy's production as a runner. Which of course would make Bell the better runner (imho).

Do those numbers include receiving yards? My guess is that would put Bell well ahead of Lacy. Also, Lacy is fat. If he doesn't get himself in shape, he is no Jerome Bettis, and his career will be short.

have to say coach brings up a Interestin point. To date lacy has more rushing and receiving Tds than bell. To this point you have to give lacy the edge. He also has the better yp Rush

are you serious? so receiving yards don't count?

Lacy 32 games 2402 rushing 698 receiving 25 total TDs 96.88 TYPG Total yards per game
Bell 29 games 2221 rushing 1253 receiving 19 total TDs 119.79 TYPG

Combined yardage Bell is up huge. Not even close. Also total yardage per game is significantly in Bell's favor.

Both good backs, but Bell is significantly more versatile and gains nearly 23 more yards per game than Lacy.

Who are these guys?

Lacy is a better athlete than he looks, but he is still big. He has good hands and decent agility for his size. I do think he runs a bit too upright (ala brandon jacobs) and will take a beating. I do not see his career lasting as long as Bell. I would never take lacy over bell and I think anyone would be crazy to at this point. The yards per game or TDs do not mean much to me because there are so many variables. You would have to factor in the Oline, whether your team is ahead or behind, how well the opponent's D is, field conditions, etc etc. It is near impossible to compare the 2 on stats alone.

Bell is a more complete back. He runs better routes than a lot of Wrs out there. He is a huge asset in the passing game. Something lacy is not.

No, I simply listed their career stats. Things like staying healthy and staying out of trouble are part of being an NFL player. In these areas Lacy is clearly the better.

Lacy has run it 549 times

Bell has run it 534 times.

Pretty close if you ask me. Even if you gave Bell 15 more carries, he's still likely behind on yards, TD's and yards per carry.

Both players are excellent backs.

Is that Pouncey on Shazier's left?

Seriously?

It's high school football players that have committed to Pitt having a pic with Shazier

I was sure that it wasn't an Amway organization photo.
