Shades Makes A Hot Seat List

I hate when people say "Who would you replace him with?"

That cracks me up too. If you find out your girl is screwing all your buddies, do you keep her around be cause you don’t have someone lined up to take her place or do you kick her *** to the curb?
I don’t see a lot of difference between the two scenarios.

If Tomlin was fired the Browns would have him in for an interview the next day.

Poor guy...If I was him I'd say he'll no. ;)

Personally I'd much rather see CMT coaching for the Brahns. His pass defense would be simple for our offense to decimate.

Nothing is going to happen to Tomlin. He should have been gone 5 years ago but the Rooneys do not wish to lose face by firing a minority coach after pressing for an affirmative action policy in the NFL. Virtue signaling is more important to our owners than putting a good product on the field.

Hell yea,.........because mediocracy is something for them to look up to.!!!!!

That sounds like Butler was Rooney promotion. Stick with us, and your time will come when LeBeau leaves. I am happy to learn this, it shows Rooney doesn't fully trust Tomlin. Butler can't fill LeBeau's shoes, but its not his fault the Steelers have faced often on picking DB's, and Tomlin has pretty much taken over the defense.

It's hard to say how much is ****** drafting and how much is ****** coaching with the defense. I don't think Colbert suddenly became an idiot because he drafted some pretty good defensive players when Cowher was here (and LeBeau) and has had a lot more misses than hits drafting defense since Shades has been here (still with LeBeau). Ziggy Hood, Crezdon Butler, Jason Worilds, Cortez Allen, Curtis Brown, Shamwow Thomas, Doran Grant, Jarvis Jones, Bud "Jarvis" Dupree, Sean Davis, Artie Burns. All eminently forgettable players.

Forget the HC, the front office is getting raked over the coals for totally screwing up the Bell negotiations as they should.

Rod Woodson calling out the defense too, schemes are old and broken.

A total collapse of the organization and failing completely in all the coaching decisions, Steelers are a laughing stock from the front office on down for blowing it

The only one responsible for the failed Bell negotiations is Bell. Man, if he signed that contract the team offered him half of this board would be bashing the front office for giving him that kind of money.

I don't think Grimm would have done any better. He would have spent to much time looking at porn............................ But hey, if our current coach is slipping maybe that's what he's been up to too.....!!!!

That was Larry Zeirlein looking at porn, not Grimm. I remember reading here at the time that Grimmy liked to drink. A lot. Of course now we have Peezy who drinks everything to keep everyone else sober.

Butler was paid a lot more than other LB coaches so he would stay and be heir apparent to LeBeau. Problem is that people figured out how to beat LeBeau's defense, plus some rules changes, and Butler's defense is no better and player development is worse.

I still think that Butler is not as bad as it seems. There has been an alleged interference in that defence from Tomlin, which is making Butler look bad. I guess if Butler was retained by the Rooney's to be LeBeau successor, then they must think very high of him and if Butler is retained, that would speak volumes.

Defense is holding this team back. Whether it's scheme or personnel, what they've been doing hasn't been working. Butler and Tomlin are constants. Tomlin isn't going anywhere so that leaves one guy.

The funny thing is that I just read a comment from a Bungals fan who is desperate for the Bungals to beat the Steelers so they fire Dumblin and the Bungals can hire him straight away!!!!! LOL, 20 more years without sniffing the play-offs if that happened! :cheer2::cheer2:

Agree, but I wish the real culprit was the one being let go....

The decision to keep Butler as LeBeau's successor was make a long time ago when LeBeau's defense was good. Remember, when Butler took over we wondered if a guy who spent years in the old system would be able to change things enough to have an effective defense again. IF the Rooneys believe in Butler and IF they keep him then they need to tell Shades to sit down and STFU and let Butler coach the defense the way he wants and draft who he wants. Then it will either work or it won't but right now it mostly isn't working. That being said, if I ran the team after the season I'd fire every defensive coach (except for Tom Bradley because he's only been here this year and not responsible for the clusterfuck).

Granted at the time the rules were better for defense, but Cowher was literally 99-1 in games where he entered the 4th quarter with a double digit lead. Shades blows more 4th quarter leads than that in one season.

I have this bad feeling they are getting rid of nobody.

NFL Radio this morning said Tomlin's job is safe and is going nowhere from early reports.

Yea. There likely won't be any coaching changes.
