Munchak might be a head coach. We don’t need to look very far.
Bill Cowher said he would not rule coaching again. It would have to be with the right team. Giving Bill a 3 year deal would energize the franchise.
Buffalo’s DC Frazier is impressive. He understands pass defense and really did not have top talent around him. Yet his unit is number two in the NFL. Picking him might make it easier on Art firing Tomlin.

Who was Tomlin when we found him? Defensive backs coach for Tampa Bay and Defensive Coordinator for the Vikings, who ranked dead last against the pass when he was there. How has his defensive expertise translated into his HC job with Pittsburgh. Give Munchak a chance or sift through some DC or OC with a better portfolio than Tomlin had when he was hired.

I did. I remember it well. It came down to a very untested Mike Tomlin or Russ Grimm.

Need another 8 years of doing nothing beyond the regular season?
If not making playoffs, losing 4 of 5 last games, losing in first game of playoffs, except once. Losing to worst teams in the league, sticking with kick that is only 61%, letting award go to early, Porter, Harrison, etc,,,
What more would you need????

I'm glad some heat is getting generated, as long as it's influencing Art II to put some real heat on Shades.
The players on the team he coaches, they have a job to do and if they're below the line, if you will, they aren't in that job for very long. Same standards should apply here.

Problem here is that it's Tomlins fingerprints all over the defense, and that won't change with a new coordinator.

I'd all be fore HIRING Cowher for the GM position and let him find a coach & staff. SERIOUSLY, Bill would strongly consider that job and the STEELERS would benifit greatly. His talent evaluation is superior to eithe Mike TOMLIN or Mr. Colbert and couple Bill with his picked HC and things would light up emensly. Could you imagine Ben going out with a win in the SB with TOMLIN............could you imagine BEN going out with a win in the SB with Bill Cowher in the mix......... I thought so.....

I don't think Grimm would have done any better. He would have spent to much time looking at porn............................ But hey, if our current coach is slipping maybe that's what he's been up to too.....!!!!

Butler was a Rooney hire. He was promised the job for years. If Butler gets the axe I could see someone else coming in and getting control. That said. If Tomlin himself is retained(which everyone knows he will be) and Butler doesn't at least get canned than Rooney is the blame. The only true hire Tomlin has brought on is our current OC. Seems every other main co-ord was a Rooney hire. Seems the Rooney's need to start backing off with their meddling. If Tomlin can't hire his guys then bring in a guy that can.

Many of us are quite ready to quit.
Butler was paid a lot more than other LB coaches so he would stay and be heir apparent to LeBeau. Problem is that people figured out how to beat LeBeau's defense, plus some rules changes, and Butler's defense is no better and player development is worse.

I hate when people say "Who would you replace him with?" ****, Tomlin was basically nobody when he was hired. Nobody knew who he was. He did alright, but the team has definitely gone down hill over his tenure. Sometimes it just gets stale, and what worked with one team doesn't work with another. I think Tomlin is a decent coach. I think we will find out how decent when Ben retires.
Now that it's his team with all of Cowher's players retired except Ben, we see how decent he is. We will win 9 to 12 games a year, reliably lose two games a year that we shouldn't to bad teams, and should we get into the playoffs we will get bounced in the first round. We've already seen how good it gets with Shades and HIS players, and this is it. We were 13-3 last year but only four last-minute Boz FG's away from being 9-7.

That sounds like Butler was Rooney promotion. Stick with us, and your time will come when LeBeau leaves. I am happy to learn this, it shows Rooney doesn't fully trust Tomlin. Butler can't fill LeBeau's shoes, but its not his fault the Steelers have faced often on picking DB's, and Tomlin has pretty much taken over the defense.
