Seumalu (sp) is out this week. What say you? Do they put a back up in to enable spencer anderson to continue in the jumbo package? Or **** can our most effective run package, and have Anderson playing left guard the whole game?

I guess you could place McCollum at left guard and allow Anderson to continue where he’s most effective but neither seem to be very dominant at left guard. Wondering if Peat can fill LG, why leave him on the roster if he can’t fill the position. Allow Anderson to continue where he seems comfortable.

I think they first have to address the position, G.

Which Anderson gets the nod.

Then you address the swing role. Perhaps that goes to the other Anderson.

I think you have to try to keep that formula especially on the road against a Chargers team that is arguably better at defending the pass. So you want to try to be run effective which potentially sets up that play action passing that Smith likes.

Chargers have the ex Steelers CB Donte Jackson who is INT capable and a solid S in Derwin James Jr. so yeah you want to run it and run it effectively.

I think with this pecking order it gives you the best option of being effective with and without the Jumbo package.

It also serves a different purpose purpose to keep the TOP and in turn that keeps their effective QB off the field.

Speaking of in this matchup they are down both of their starting OTs. They are clearly a better passing team a deadly one at that. They can still be run effective but they are down to their third string RB. So I scheme towards stopping the pass sending some disguised blitzes seeing if they can handle that with our teams capable pass rushers coming hard often and yeah often.

Last week when Alt went down the Panthers generated some effective pass rush. No reason that can’t happen with Watt, Highsmith and Herbig available.

This game can be sort of an audition for Anderson as next season the job very well could be his with Seumalo moving on into free agency.

peat has the better pedigree. idk. I just think its all silly.

Bud Dupree is a back up olb for chargers.

Also,, chargers just traded for a OT.... Trevor Penning in exchange for a 6th rd pick.

The Saints drafted Penning with the 19th pick in the 2022 draft out of Northern Iowa. He was limited to just 91 snaps as a rookie because of multiple foot injuries. In 2023, he started the first six games of the season at left tackle, his primary college position. In 2024, he switched to right tackle and started 17 games. In 2025, Kellen Moore took over as coach, and Penning made a move inside to left guard.

Both Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman mentioned Penning’s positional versatility this week. But the Chargers’ need is at tackle, with Slater and Alt out for the season.

For now, he will be focused on learning the Chargers’ offense. He is in the midst of a crash course.

“The number one thing is he’s got to learn our system,” Roman said this week. “He’s got to know what to do so he can actually function. He’s got to know the snap counts, he’s got to know the silent cadences and all the different variations we might have on that. It’s elaborate. So there’s a lot to learn, a lot to pick up, and that’s step number one, and then we clean technique up as we go.”

There was no ideal fix to the Chargers’ offensive tackle situation.

Don’t move McCormick, He’s finally starting to settle in at HIS position. It’s NOT just an easy move him here and him over there fix. Player’s have said it’s a lot harder to do than many think.
