Seriously, some who expected this from our Defense

I am pleasantly surprised.

We'll be just fine against those other QB's. We held the Pat* to their lowest point total and did a nice job with the Cards.

I like watching football when there is some good defense being played. Keep it up boys!

So far, so good....they will get better as the season progresses. Go Steelers!

We just didn't know what new players like Cockrell or Dupree could add to the defense.

We just didn't know how much Tuitt would improve from his rookie season.

We just did not know how much Harrison had left.

All of the above broke the Steelers way. Now we have a better pass rush and the ability to get more turnovers.

I still have serious reservations about our secondary in coverage.

Actually I had solid hopes for Tuitt, but like another poster alluded to earlier, this 3-4 scheme seems to be more adept to letting the DE be more than just another DT. Not quite the 4-3 DE level, but its noticeable.

Dupree -- I just hoped he would make athletic splash plays; which he has. That's all you can hope for out of any rookie really.

Harrison -- How much he had left I never had in question. The man's work ethic and intensity are unparalleled by any in Steelers history and he's still all business. In a part time role, he's doing exactly what I figured.

Cockrell -- I called him way before the season, go back and see (if you wanna waste hours; who is this guy???).

This is not the 2008 Steelers D. You bet there are reservations about it, lets not get hasty and consider it an elite defense. Simply give it credit for playing hard, Butler getting credit for changing coverage schemes with the times, thank goodness he stayed an assistant for as long as he has with us. He's qualified to be a DC and has long since been, he just needed the opportunity. Sometimes in life that's all one can ask for.

Side Note:
God Bless Dick LeBeau, probably the 2nd best coach in Steelers history after Noll -- ahead of Cowher and Tomlin. And btw, not to beat around the bush, but **** you Tomlin and Cowher hating ********. They both have done phenomenal jobs in a very hard position and both winning a Super Bowl and taking the team to another is no easy task. I'm simply giving credit to a man who had he truly been granted an opportunity to be a Head Coach with a REAL organization (come now, the Bengals under Mike Brown you are doomed to fail), I firmly believe he would have been one of the long standing best Head Coaches in the NFL. It's all about the opportunity -- imagine if Bill Walsh never did get his with the 49ers and their quality front office? You have to be put in a position to succeed with the right front office and ownership: as much as we hate Bill Belichick, no one can deny his success and he was a failure with the Cleveland Browns. If Dick LeBeau would have gotten that job in Buffalo over Marv Levy I bet history would be a lot different, that's just one example. I simply believe that his schemes simply will not work like they did in the past due to Goodell's BS rule changes on the fly in 2010 and the way teams have adapted.

My ONLY concern is covering talented TE's. This, IMO, is our weak link.

While I keep hearing/reading that Blake is the weak link - he returned a LONG INT for a TD and he generally keeps the play in front of him with hard tackles. This is his first year starting - so, I'll give him a B-.

The rotation of the LB's is SPECTACULAR. Nuff said.

The DE's and DL's are just outstanding as well.

As the year goes on - and looking at the talented QB's and offenses we'll face - they can only get better...

Keep up the great work Coach Butler!!!

The only thing I was expecting from this defense this year was over 35 sacks.

Our cornerback situation is a mess. Now I see the team worked out a guy named McClain,

a 7th round Carolina reject. With Blake and Allen ( cough ) hurt, why are we scooping so far down in the barrel when we have a 4th rounder sitting right there on our PS.

I know- I know , WTF do I know . They trade for Boykin, don't play him. they play the guy that can't rotate his hips and stick with the shifty recievers. Them coaches must have a reason cause they do this stuff all the time....and they do have a track record of selecting only the best DB's.

er...no ..wait

Dalton and Luck are playing ok, but wilson has been off and Manning has been downright bad. Denver would be lucky to have a couple wins without their D. As long as we don't let Denvers Wrs wide open we should be fine. Mannings arm is done. I am more worried about playing against Denvers D.

In all fairness to dalton, he's been playing better than just "okay"

And Brady, the greatest five-yard passer ever.

Don't forget his greatest attribute,......................the cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

two years ago, I was despondant about this team... i thought we were never going to use Ben in a pass first offense we had the talent for. I thought the defense was a five year rebuilding process at least, and I had little faith that we would develop the young guys well enough to even meet that deadline. I think I was among the first, if not the first, on the "trade Ben and rebuild" train.

I am glad I was utterly wrong. The offense is immaculate. the Defense is quickly improving. its a good future for now

Another 5'9" CB? SIGN EM!! Seriously though, I'd rather call up Grant than have another McClain.
