Noah Spence has top 5 talent and that is hands down undeniable. But his off the field concerns will be an issue and some teams won't even have him on their board and the Steelers are likely one of those teams. If he's around in the third I think they put him back on and have the discussion before they pick and if he's there in the 3rd I'd have to pull the trigger. Bottom line he made high draft picks of the north look silly. He used his hands well, had an awesome first step, got the edge, bull rushed, and just looked natural as a pass rusher. To be 100% honest if you get the kid in for an individual workout and talk with him and maybe even bring in a psychologist to listen in and see if what he says sounds like he changed I would be ok trading out of the first and picking up some 3rd-6th round picks and taking him with our first pick (2nd round) but that is only if you feel comfortable with him.
Jarran Reed solidifies himself as a first round grade. He was unmoveable and even showed some pass rush skills. He also showed desire coming back out late in the game when he already had nothing more to prove. I bet he's high on the Steelers board when it's all said and done.
LB
Deion Jones from LSU looks to be that new hybrid LB that can cover and run. He was all over the field and the kid can run. He hits hard with good form and looked natural in coverage.
Eric Striker
Is in the same mold as Jones. He seemed pretty natural inside or out and has good speed. Steelers might be in the market for an ILB with Timmons contract and age. I feel they won't shake it up this year since they are only a player or two away from making a run but if we can sign Spence cheap or get back some mid round picks we should look into a replacement.
CB
Jalen Mills from LSU who I had pegged as a safety played some CB and looked good actually. Could be a nice fit that can play safety in some packages and CB in others. I like position flexibility especially in this new aged NFL where you need guys to play in sub packages and base and Mills would be ideal for that.
Cyrus Jones from Bama also surprised a little. He definitely has some wheels and did a nice job breaking on balls and anticipating the pass. I think he's more of an athlete now than anything but he definitely has upside. Also, he can return kicks and punts and that gives him added value. Especially if he can be a gunner or cover kicks. If we can get some mid round picks he'd be a guy I'd target.
S
Sean Davis looks to be a perfect fit for the Steelers imho. He is big, strong, can cover, hits hard, plays the run, blitzes and does everything we need a safety to do. I see him listed as a 5th round pick and I'd grab him in the 4th and feel happy as a clam with it. Again he is position flexible and can play safety or CB. He I am sure can cover kicks and be a gunner on special teams.
North
DL
Vernon Butler who I loved going into this is now loved by all 32 teams. He was a man amongst boys and really threw his weight around. He played the run, the pass, and was just unblockable. I'd love to snag him in the second round.
Adolphus Washington did a nice job getting penetration and stuffing the run. Looks like a perfect 34 DE.
Sheldon Day has a motor on him man. I wish I could find a place for him but he looks like a penetrating DT for a 43 team in my opinion.
LB
Blake Martinez looked natural at the position. Seemed to shoot gaps and cover well enough. I feel his strength are above the neck and will be a solid NFL player but not special.
CB
Eric Murray looked pretty good. He's a little handsy but seemed to cover in man well and looked like he wanted to press but because of rules had to let the receiver get to him. I feel he will have a nice NFL career but probably not a star.
S
Darian Thompson from Boise seemed to be pretty natural in coverage. Definitely has the size you want to cover TE's and looks to have good range.
Miles Killebrew didn't get to hit anyone like I am used to seeing but he did a nice job showing some range and making some nice tackles. Might be a little stiff in coverage but that's not what's going to get him paid. Punishing guys over the middle and dropping RB's when he plays in the box. The kid his built and tackles with authority.
