They got the pass rusher they needed, so now what? Do you double up on OLB if that's best player available in Rd 2? I'd be OK with that. You can't have too many pass rushers so even if Jarvis turns it on this year, it would not be a problem to have a spare pass rusher to rotate.

Now with Dupree on board, the needs look like this IMO

1. CB
2. WR
3. FS
4. OLB
5. TE
6. RB
7. OL

Here's the 1st round breakdown of what was drafted
QB-2, RB 2 WR 6 TE 0 OL 7, DL 5, LB 5 CB 4 S 1

I'm surprised that so few DBs were drafted. It seems many teams opted for the safe picks on OL. I mentioned before my theory that lots of teams go OL when they aren't sure what to do. 1st round OL picks are rarely criticized. They usually get a golf clap of approval like you are eating your veggies.

I'm expecting a run on DBs in RD 2 because they will be the best players available. ONly 4 CBs are gone but that can easily be 8 CB gone by the time the steelers are on the clock at 24 in RD 2.

Best CBs
Jalen Collins LSU
PJ Williams FSU
Eric Rowe Utah
Josh Shaw USC
Ronald Darby FSU

Colbert said OLB was deep. How deep do the Steelers see CB? They may have to trade up if they want to get a CB that they have graded as round 1 or 2. If not, maybe they pass on CB in RD 2 and then you are just hoping somebody falls for round 3.

Don't sleep on DE Xavier Cooper I could see him being a typical Steeler's wtf pick.

I doubt he falls that far but if Jaelen Strong is there when we pick he could be selected. Think he is top of the Browns wish list though.

If another 4 corner backs are gone before we pick it might just be a second pass rusher. As to not expecting it this was the first year in a long time if I heard the talking heads correctly that 3 corners were taken in the first round and after we picked the cow girls picked a player I was wanting us to take in the second. The draft could fall in such a way that we do not get to pick a corner with out reaching so it might be more than one line backer. I would rather have 2 good rushers and get a decent safety prospect than get a bad corner. maybe we can get a corner next year if they are all gone before we pick.

Best CBs
Jalen Collins LSU
PJ Williams FSU
Eric Rowe Utah
Josh Shaw USC
Ronald Darby FSU

I would add Alex Carter to that list, and presume this will be our pick if any one of these guys are still there for us.

My rankings of these CB's:

1. Eric Rowe Utah
2. Alex Carter Stanford
3. Jalen Collins LSU
4. PJ Williams FSU
5. Josh Shaw USC
6. Ronald Darby FSU

eric rowe
quinten rollins
pj williams
ronal darby
doran grant

these are my list in order of availability

It would be difficult to understand how the Steelers don't come away with 2 DBs today.

Then DL/TE/OL.

There is a lot of WR/RB talent that can be had in vet FAs, adding depth behind our young studs at these spots.

Tibs I don't see Shaw as a 2nd rounder, first he projects more as a safety, but even more of why he won't go in the 2nd is he has some character issues. I think Rowe though tops the Steelers 2nd round wishlist, just seems like the type of player they fall for. Although if CBs go ahead of us because there isn't much in terms of value at that position in the 2nd (more value at CB in the 3rd and 4th rd), do not sleep on them double dipping at edge rusher in the 2nd.

OLB Nate Orchard, Utah
OLB Eli Harold, Virginia
OLB Owamagbe Odigizhuwa, UCLA
OLB Preston Smith, Miss. St.
OLB Haloui Kikaha, Wash.
OLB Danielle Hunter, LSU
OLB Randy Gregory, Nebraska

as you can see, the value at edge rusher may still be the best player available to us at pick 56 (Steelers had Orchard, Harold, Smith, Gregory in for visits)

Is there enough roster room for another new LB?
ILB: Timmons, Shazier, Spence, Williams
OLB: Harrison, Jones, Dupree, Moats
leaving a bunch of guys to compete for one or two spots.
The glaring weakness in the secondary, and simple lack of bodies to fill the empty spots of the three recent retirees almost obliges the Steelers to go DB twice in the next 3 picks.

Rollins is a Safety most likely. What is Maxx Williams or Gregory are still there in rd 2?

I know we have needs in the secondary, but do you want them reaching for that need if the value isn't there, but the value at pass rusher is there? I'm just saying I can just see the value at OLB being way higher than that at CB even though that's the next need you'd like to fill. I think Rowe will be the highest guy on their board now and they may even trade up to get him because otherwise you most likely are waiting until round 3 for true value at the CB position.

What about corner in rd 2, and La'El Collins in rd 3? Collins is supposedly not a suspect in the murder of a girl he once dated and is now back in Louisiana trying to clear it up. The kid could be all-pro guard. I would def consider him if he is there in rd 3, then take Haeurmann in rd 4.

I hear ya. But I know that there are 3 open spots in the secondary; only two starters and they are middling quality at best....if JJ and Shazier aren't injured, then we have a good mix at LBs already. Maybe packaging the 2.24 and the 4th to move up works today? Isn't Rowe/Darby a bit of hybrid S/CB?

I think they really like Rowe and will try to trade higher in the 2nd to get him. Ideal picks today would be Rowe in round 2 and WR Kevin Lockett in round 3. Then get another CB (Steven Nelson) or safety in round 4.

I would take Rowe or Jalen Collins in rd 2 and La'El Collins if he is there in rd 3.

My wishlist in order of preference:

1. Strong WR Physical receiver with excellent hands
2. Green-Beckham WR 6-5 4.49 40!
3. PJ Williams CB
4. Landen Collins S
5. Maxx Williams TE
6. Fisher OT
7. Diggy DE/OLB
8. TJ Clemmings OT
9. Campbell S
10. Devon Smith WR

The value is WR this round. If Stong or DGB are there in the second I take them in a heartbeat. In that order of preference.

I think they really like Rowe...
Yeah my sense is Rowe tops their list but will be long gone by our pick. So the question is do the Steelers have another 2-3 corners rated in that range where they would just sit there and wait for whichever guy to fall to them. I think they have Alex Carter rated fairly high, he seems to have the physicality they like at that position, and I know Tomlin wined & dined Jalen Collins. What I don't know is how they view the likes of PJ Williams, Shaw & Darby and some of the other rnd 2-3 corners.

Picking another edge rusher this high would suggest they're ready to move on from Jarvis and/or Harrison at this point, which doesn't seem feesable.

If we manage to grab a corner in the 2nd, I'd keep my eye on the OG's in the 3rd round, someone like Tre' Jackson or Jamil Douglas. Though they may stay on D and look at a D-lineman or a S like Amos or Anthony Harris.

So no one would touch La'El Collins in rd 3? The guy is a stud and if he is not connected at all to the girls murder...it would be a gigantic steal.

Seriously, read what you just wrote. IF the guy is not connected to a MURDER. He's got to be off the board. You can't draft a guy IN ANY ROUND if there is even a 0.0001% chance he had ANYTHING to do with the murder of a pregnant woman.

He just knew the girl...that's all. He is not considered a suspect at all. In a murder investigation they ask anyone that knew the victim questions to get info on them. That's all. The Aaron Hernandez issue spooked people too much. If a friend of your got murdered, would you immediately be a suspect.....obv not!

What about Maxx Williams in rd 2, and if PJ Williams falls to rd 3, trade up and snag him.

I think we're going to have to go corner in round 2. As much as we would like another tight end or another receiver, I fear that would be a luxury pick with our offense humming at such a high rate and our secondary in shambles.

However, I will say if Dorial Green-Beckham is there at 2.22, I think he's worth a look. Brown, Bryant, Beckham.. good heavens..

Round two:

Gregory,Orcahrd, OLB's

Fisher LT

Rowe or Darby CB's

Round three:
