Sean Davis film

Agree Shark seemingly would have the inside track at the 4th spot, but it seems we are at least 3 deep at safety now. Maybe this means we keep Ventrone as a 4th S as he is a ST ace where Shark costs us way too many penalties. Dangerfield looked promising last year as well, maybe Grant emerges to grab a spot there as the CB top 4 are pretty set.. Looking forward to the battle for the 8-9 DBs.

Read a while ago that the ST coach thought that Shark didn't do anything wrong for a couple of those flags, blaming the refs for wrongly calling the penalty

the video is reflection of how bad rap is now, some of these pople that make this clips need to go into the archives and play rap from 1989-1997

I think wigh Davis, feeney and shazier, Butler and lake can really create some formations that can use occasionally that could just have the qb at pre snap think WTH like

3-4-4/ 5-2-4 (CF playing under)-5
LE heyward
DT hargrave
Re Tuitt
de/oln Dupree
OLB Feeney
LB TIMMONS
LB/s Shazier
FS Davis
SS Mitchell
CB GAY
cb Cockrell

WITH THE AMOUNT of are Shazier and Feeney can cover with thier speed a spread attack from a formation with heacy pass rush from the interior and 1 edge rusher and timmons crossing and shazier feeney dropping could stop crucial 3rd and short's with that much speed.

Davis does not look good vs OSU. You can see why they switched him from corner to safety.

While Davis has excellent measurables and workout numbers, it doesn't seem to translate in coverage. He seems to lack some alertness and instincts, which are needed even more at safety. Outside of hitting vs the run and special teams, he's going to need a lot of work to before playing in the defense.

If Grant can play both CB and S he should walk away with a roster spot.

I liked the Grant pick. Tomlin didn't play him much as a rookie. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as Tomlin has been slow at times to promote younger players.

I agree, Grant can play FS, or outside Dime for us, in addition to a slot Corner.

The fact Grant made it through waivers does not lead me to believe he is going to be some savior in his 2nd season or see significant time on the defense.

I don't know how it's all going to shake out right now. Normally we don't throw the young kids into the fire, but the depth chart in front of Golson, Burns and Davis is pretty bleak. The only two definite 100% snap count guys are Gay and Mitchell (they got 96% and 95% respectively last season). Those guys will never come off the field unless they are hurt.

As for the other 3000 snap counts in the secondary that we will likely need, who knows at this point how the spread will happen. Something tells me it will be a lot of mixing and matching for a while and could be completely different between the first four weeks and the last four.

Isn't grant the guy that was signed to the 53 to get him off of the PS because someone wanted to sign him ( according to rumors)? Is there some place to see the attempts to sign from PS?

Tomlin like a good special teams DB for the 52nd or 53rd man. Ventrone can't play in our defense. He looks awful in the pre-season games he plays.

Yeah--Grant was cut lose and reclaimed, but Cockrell was cut loose and picked up and proved to be a find. With a 1st and 2nd round pick likely gunning for playing time, Grant could be the odd man out in terms of snap counts with the 1st or 2nd team defense.

But they have to be the 45th or 46th man to see the field...

The 46th man could be a 4th string guy who can play special teams. See Ventrone. But when it comes time to pick a player to make the team, Ventore's the 52 to 55th man, sometimes cut.

I wish the NFL would let all 53 men dress and play.
