This article is from the Home Page here at STEELERNATION.com

It's a good read and gives the credence to how this got started.

SORRY, I had wrong link, now it’s correct

Talks about only two players hitting 20+mph on the field of play. Both Tyreek Hill & Justin Fields have achieved it.

Amazing how fast Justin is, but still not enough to risk him in the return game. You got him to be a QB, USE him as one.

Now if you bring in a Bonafide back up that can actually start, should both Russ and Justin went down, then go ahead and waste him on return game.

Whose ******* idea is this! I’m sorry but that’s nuts to have your backup QB returning kicks. I know Justin can run but the emphasis should be on improving him as a QB and working on his passing game and not returning kicks.

Danny is this stupid...and would do it if allowed. Thankfully, there are smarter coaches to stop him. And don't think he hasn't plead his case through that wad of big league chew stuffed in both cheeks.

if they make the roster, our Return Man will be one of:

Cordarrelle Patterson (that's a given)

Article says Danny Smith, in not so many words.

Knowledge was made public by Jalen Warren while he was on Cam Heyward POD CAST.

ALSO, I’ve got right link in OP now

That’s why he was brought in! Or is Danny thinking Cordarelle should backup Russ? This is ******* stupid and I hope shades and bubbles don’t screw this team up even more.

It makes you think that Bubbles has so much “Big League“ in his mouth that he has to talk out of his Azz.

Myself, I think it is wishful thinking on Bubbles.

For the life of me, I can’t see any scenario where this would come to fruition…………..

UNLESS

They brought in a QB to compete against the Russ and Justin was #3.

QB is too important of a position to put your QB in harms way. I am pretty sure he is going to focus on becoming a better QB in camp not diminishing from that plan.

He is a one year rental. A rented mule, some would say. Use him as such. Qbs can be cheap. Look what we got him for.

I wish there had been a history kickoff returns in the modern day NFL. Then we could determine the injury risk. We can only assume it would be risky.

Danny Smith was probably just kidding around with this since Fields is such a great athlete. Probably something along the lines of Troy asking if he could go over the top as a running back at the goal line. He knows it's not going to happen but still brings it up.

This would rank right up there with the top 3 dumbest things Tomlin did or even thought seriously doing.
Who is saying he is entertaining the idea?

I will get on Tomlin when he deserves it (see the playoffs) but I won’t just stamp every ridiculous story on his forehead.

If Shades and Danny Smiff actually did this (which I highly doubt would ever happen) they should be shot several times, then two more times each just to be sure.

Agreed. Just cannot see any coach doing this, particularly with someone they brought in to potentially be the QB of the future.
