Rudolph contract

I'm pretty sure the Browns weren't an 11 win team those years and the Steelers were not sitting three starters and out two more with Covid. But why let that get in the way of your narrative.

The Browns today had a depleted secondary and Jones still did nothing before the de facto 4th and 10 Hail Mary that Claypool saved his *** on.

Again, having an unathletic QB with poor footwork and poor pocket presence as your long term starting QB only insures years and years and years without playoff appearances and wins.

The old depleted secondary. I remember a bomb to Johnson followed by the ridiculous qb change. I remember another bomb to Claypool followed by another ridiculous change.

I never said you couldn't but why say, Mason completed more deep passes today than Ben has in the past 4 games combined? Thats not even close to true
Where are you seeing hate for Ben? Clearly Ben is far better than Mason. We can show Mason appreciation for a good game without taking anything away from Ben.

A pass where a guy catches the ball and runs for 35 yards is not the same as a 40 yard pass in the air. So refresh my memory on those types of passes besides the TD to Johnson in the Colts game. And don't get me wrong Ben's the guy but he has badly struggled with the deep ball for the last 4-5 games.

I listed them already long one to Claypool, td to juju, td to Dionte

No you can’t, that is against the rules. Everyone knows that when you give props to a player for a good game, you are really saying that Ben sucks.

so maybe Rudolph can hold the fort until our new franchise QB gets drafted? I think yes and it should be cheaper than any failed 1st rounder.

I can tell that I am in the minority, but I am still on the side of keeping MR. Too many years of paying retread over the hill has beens, while trying to field a mediocre team.

Is MR a first ballot HOF QB like Ben, hell no, and I don’t believe ANYONE is alluding to that. He is a hell of a lot better then Vick, Graham, Miller, etc when they were playing for the Steelers.

Nope, you have it *** backwards, the post that started the entire thing was someone saying Mason completed more long passes today than Ben has in the past 4 games combined, which isn't true, why try to make your HOF QB look bad to prop up your back up

You are referencing a COMPLETELY different jackass comment made in the same thread. This is a response to the statement that an attaboy for MR = a slam of Ben. Two completely different things.

Going to say this again.... if the front office has any brains, Fitchner is not renewed and Canada or another OC is brought in... whomever that is should be the one to make tge decision on who the Post Ben Qb is... be it Mason, a draft pick, a stopgap, or a refurb...

You won’t learn anything from the imbecilic Fitchner offense... where a guy has to play from behind 75% of the time cause tge offense doesn’t Really start scoring for a quarter and a half at least...

I stand corrected it was about a 40 yard seem in the slot to Claypool on the drive that stalled at the goaline. I would say that constituted a deep pass. Regardless. I'm not hating on Ben. I'm realistic because he has at best another year left. I just would like to see Rudolph be given a full opportunity to succeed or fail before they draft. Thats all.

I really like what I saw from Rudolph too. I just don't get the reason to put down your 1st ballot HOF'er while trying to make the back up look good, and not just that post, as soon as Mason threw the INT, someone posted "that's a Ben pick". I guess it's just weird to me. Washington dropped that pass, an no one said, "there's a Dionte drop"

Ben has a short leash when it comes to some fans. Soso play in December probably caused it. Some just don't care for Ben just like the media.

No worries Ben can win in the playoffs and shut them all up !

The difference between Ben and Rudolph. Ben won't throw unless you're open. Rudolph puts the ball up and allows his WRs to make plays.

the only negative for Ben this year is he hasn't been accurate when his WRs are open deep.

Claypool has also misplayed and dropped deep passes by Ben this year too.
Rudolph was terrible on deep passes last year so now he's better than Ben because he connected on deep passes in one game vs one of worst secondaries in the league?
Not to mention, a couple were 50/50 balls that Chase came down with.
In order for me to say that Rudolph does anything better than Ben, it will take a lot more than 4 quarters of play. Rudolph also had no pressure on him, we didn't need to win that game.. he could just go out and not play careful.

I'm not putting Ben down. If you asked Ben Roethlisberger how his deep ball has been this year he would say unacceptable guaranteed. Rudolph completed three deep balls on Sunday. A third was a stride off of Claypool, but where it should have been. People say the TD was lucky, but essentially was exactly where the vast majority of Ben's deep passes to Claypool on the outside have been. Underthrown. Now Ben makes up for deficiencies in his deep pass in many other ways. Most notably read and recognition and getting out of the putrid plays called from the bench.

Meh...Ben is just a game manager...or at least I have been told.

No Ben is a Franchise, First Ballot HOF QB who's best years were wasted away with a coach who is a good leader, but doesn't have x and o qualifications and hires substandard assistants. But time waits for no man and he is declining. EVERY PLAYER DOES.

When you say Mason hit on more deep passes than Ben has in the past 4 combined, when that is completely false, what would you call it?
Most QB's dont' hit on those deep passes a ton, they're low percentage. Ben hit on 3 vs the Colts, but your coach/oc has to call for those plays as well. Rudolph who is what 25, hit a good throw to Dionte, but the other's were underthrown as well, it's not an easy pass to hit.

Rudolph does nothing better than Ben, with the exception of maybe running.
