Rudolph cleared to play

Rudolph hasn't even had a full 3 games to get acclimated to the NFL and people are wanting to run him off already FFS.

I mean if a guy isn’t hof caliber right out of the gate people hate him and think he is a bust.... if a guy is Hof material from day one, people hate him because he isn’t absolutely perfect...

To try & help put Hodge's night in perspective:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Devlin Hodges had an average intended air yard distance of 4.55 yards Sunday night.<br><br>His average air completion air yards was just .40 yards.<br><br>He had 2 completions more than 5 yards past the LOS.<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Steelers?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Steelers</a></p>— Steelers Depot (@Steelersdepot) <a href="https://twitter.com/Steelersdepot/status/1183627754299781120?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 14, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I like what he did, he managed the game well, handled some bad snaps well & overall looked like a winner out there. Let's not make it out to be more than it was though. I mean, Coach was screaming for a hurry-up drive at the end of the 2nd quarter up 21 points and getting the ball the 2nd half.

Don't go full Coach.

Mason could have had a chance to win the game in San Fran but the defense couldn't get the offense the ball back in the end with quite a bit of time left. I think Mason is the guy still at this point. He has the better arm and better deep threat.

That Barron penalty was ... bad. No reason to be grabbing the guy. Had good position. If Barron does not have that terrible penalty, 49ers kick game tying field goal, Steelers get the ball back with 3:00 on the clock, 3 timeouts, 2 minute warning, and I very much believe Rudolph drives the field for a game-winning field goal.

And not to get off topic here, but damn - the team is so effing close to being 4-2. Niners game - as described - Steelers D failed, but even giving up tying FG, I think they win. Then the @#$%ing Juju fumble. He holds the ball, it's Steelers 1st and 10 at their own 45 yard line, just 25 yards from comfortable field goal range.

So freaking close.

And Boswell looking back in fine form (so far).

Go Duck!

I declare this the ALL ABOUT DUCK thread!

“Wow, wow, wow,” Devlin Hodges said an hour after he quarterbacked the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Chargers in California, one year to the day from beating VMI as the quarterback at tiny Samford (Ala.) University. “What a wild ride. I won an NFL game. What a feeling. What a feeling.”

When Chris Simms and I visited Steelers camp in August, we heard about this quarterback I’d never come across before: Devlin Hodges of Samford, in Alabama.

Word was the rookie was afraid of nothing, came in and out of huddles like he’d been there. “My goal was to make the final 53, and if not, then the practice squad,” Hodges said last night. But he didn’t make the team out of camp. He went home to Alabama, waiting for the phone to ring.

Then his agent, Bus Cook, told him the Jets were interested in working him out, and to hustle to Birmingham to fly to New Jersey. Hold on. Driving to the airport, Hodges heard from Cook again. Turns out the Steelers wanted to sign him to the practice squad. Hodges never went to Jersey. He went back home and packed to live in Pittsburgh for a while. He joined the practice squad Sept. 10, then was put on the active roster a week later

“The game’s the same, but the players are faster,” he said of the difference between Samford and the Steelers. He completed 15 of 20 for 132 yards, and he threw a 26-yard catch-and-run TD pass to James Connor to give Pittsburgh a 21-0 lead in the second quarter. How did it all feel, I wondered, to be in the NFL and win a game.

“Well, I won an NFL game, and they can never take that away from me,” Hodges said, walking onto the plane for the return to Pittsburgh. “But right now, I am so hungry. And I want to look at my phone; I’m sure everyone from home’s been leaving me messages.” Who knows how long the dream will last? With the Steelers on their bye this week, Mason Rudolph will have a week to come out of the concussion protocol. Whatever, the Steelers know they’ve got a good insurance policy in Hodges now.

Yes, there was a lot of missed opportunities that game. Seattle game could have been a win too.

When Rudolph does return, can we please mix in under center snaps, they've kept him in the shotgun too much and doesn't allow the run game to chew yards nor Rudolph to use his ability to fake the handoff and find those routes downfield

How about this? Go downfield if the guy is open, but if a receiver is wide open 8 yards from the LOS, throw to him? Here is a quick still of the pass Hodges threw 30 yards downfield, into heavy coverage. Hey, great idea, open up the defense - right? Except he simply ignored a guy wide @#$%ing open who gets an easy 12 yards.

Dude in the middle of the picture is Snell, completely uncovered. The pass downfield that was picked brought the Chargers back to life. Hodges throws short - which for some reason is now a goddamn crisis, despite the fact that Tammy has done it every goddamn year for 20 seasons and his dick drips announcer drool as a result - the Steelers pick up 12 or more yards, move to midfield, continue driving down the field, eat up a lot of clock, put more points on the board and end the @#$%ing game.

But hey, throwing deep matters so much it's worth giving up free yards and turning it over, I guess.

A man (or woman) after my own heart. I love when quarterbacks throw to the open player, the game looks easy then.

Mason is out of protocall and going to start. He will need a quarter or two to get back into the feel of things. There will be great comparison between him and duck but Mason will overthrow that talk. Until we know what we totally have in Mason, we will need to be patient on the "put in Duck" chants.

If I had more faith in the coaching staff, this is a great week for Mason to finish healing and come into a great game plan.

The thing I'm wondering about with Mason is, is he going to be really tentative because of the concussion he just suffered? You just never how something like that is going to affect a guy. I do like that he was back practicing so quickly and wanted to play vs. the Chargers, so I'm thinking (and hoping) no, it's not going to be an issue.

Bengals aren't far from being 4-2 either, just saying.

Thats for sure. If he comes out gun-shy at what point do u pull him for Duck? They will be trying to bang his head head on the ground for sure, testing his glass jaw.

A CBS Sports article this morning said Rudolph isn't out of the protocol yet. I doubt it's a big deal since he continues to practice but the article said he was still officially in the protocol.

Stan Savran SUCKS

Never use this hick as a source of anything ever again

Mason Rudolph remains in concussion protocol

Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten: “Mason remains in the concussion protocol and has not been cleared by the independent neurological consultant.”

“Until he is cleared, and per the concussion protocol, he will not be made available to the media.”

No controversy here at all. Rudolph is the starter for the rest of the season.

You don't know that, Sid had headaches for a year and sat out

Mods, change this fake news thread title

Probably on the tail end of the protocol. I would bet we will hear he is taken out of it within the near future.

Bullshit - fix the ******* headline

Still in concussion protocol? Then why the hell would they take the risk and fly him cross country to LA for the Chargers game?

Somebody got some explaining to do, did they fix that ******* medical cart yet?

They actually just cleared him. Finally.
