The reason I went with Hunter is I feel someone is going to fall in love with his athleticism and feel they can turn him into the next JPP. Looking at the board the only other guy that would really fit is Marcus Peters but after his suspension I just don't see the Steelers taking a chance on him. Hunter is a top 3 talent in this draft just has not put it all together but he's also only 20 years old and won't even be 21 until October. This kid has boom or bust written all over him but someone in the first round I feel is going to believe they are the coach that can unlock all that talent.

Am I missing Waynes?

I think if Trae Waynes was available, he would be taken immediately. Having said that, maybe you just forgot him as he way and ahead of Peters, to not be picked in the 1st round.

I think it would be a tough one between Kevin Johnson or Marcus Peters if they're available at 22.

Shouldn't be. If they are close talent wise, you take the kid who hasn't shown idiot tendencies.

Id take Waynes, Johnson or Collins at CB before OLB Hunter. I also like Eli Harold better.

No. I take the kid that has the higher ceiling...

It's crazy talk season again. It always gets this way at draft time. Let's forget every lesson that has been learned over years and years of watching football. One of those indisputable lessons is you do not win consistently when you have guys like Peters on the team. They drain the energy out of a room. They need extra attention. They are always pissing and moaning about something. Peters seems like that kind of guy. Funny thing is, we have all run into those types at our jobs, and don't want anything to do with them, regardless of their "ceiling." Yet we want our team to draft one.

Sometimes 'higher ceiling' also means 'deeper basement'.

yeah, no way Waynes doesn't get drafted in the first, and if we were to pass on him for Hunter, I'd provide Steeler Nation with an epic draft day rant that would be talked about for generations to come.

I believe one has to look at the entire package. The higher ceiling is a good point but there is more than that to consider. The baggage that is brought along is also important as is how well the guy fits into the team. Some guys have the advantage of being able to make others around him better by doing his job very consistently. Other guys will amass a lot of stats and personal accolades at the expense of their team mates and weaken other positions as they are continually covering for someone who is after the big play. There are also things like failing drug tests, failing to show up for meetings, not putting in the time to be up with the game plan etc.

The player does not exist in a vacuum of athletic ability but must also bring team work and mental awareness to the game.

I messed up on Waynes. I had him going to Miami then changed it and then forgot to put him back in. So fixed it now.

So again I think someone will fall for Hunter and his height, weight, speed, and strength and why not the Steelers? We NEED a pass rusher and maybe Tomlin and Colbert feel some heat and say lets get a guy who could be the next JPP or Aldon Smith. Yes, he could be the next Dion Jordan but at #22 you might take that risk. I mean Jordan was a top 3 pick so it costs more to be a bust there.

Second round again I take a high ceiling guy in Byron Jones. Dude is a physical freak of nature and really was underrated as a CB. He has the natural instincts to play the game and has very good production. With his athleticism he could be a shut down #1 CB in the Revis mold though I feel Jones is better suited to play zone.

wingman is always trying to check out my package which creates a hostile posting atmosphere. MMOOOOODDDDSSSS!!

Hunter in round one? NFW! No F'n Way!

Pass-rush production doesn't match the traits. Played 80 percent of the defensive snaps in 2014, managing just 1.5 sacks.

Peters has more talent, most likely most talented CB in this draft but the issues he encountered are what's causing him to drop. The kid screwed up in college and shouldn't have to keep paying for the mistakes he made but it could be enough to let him fall into our laps. If he's there at 22 I take him unless for some reason Bud Dupree would happen to drop that far and then he'd be my pick.

Yea, but he shouldn't get a free pass, either. People have to learn the things you do will haunt you. That happens to normal people. Drafting him in RD 1 will not help him to understand that. It will push it down the road. I don't want that on my team when it manifests itself in the future, because the lesson wasn't learned now. Hell, maybe he does have his head out of his ***. But the Steelers need to hit on this draft if they want to really try to win it again while the QB is there. With that in mind, are you willing to take that risk? Is he that much better than the kid from Wake Forest, for example?

ROFLMAO ... If both are on the board at the same time (they won't be) and they take Kevin Johnson and he busts, half of this board will then be all: "They ran to the podium to select Johnson. Couldn't they have waited 3 more minutes to take a longer look at Peters?"

I just never know where that damn magnifier is when I need it.

Did you really say you wanted to spend three more minutes looking at Peters?

LMAO ... yeah, I guess that could have been worded better ...

Thanks for the laugh ... my computer screen is now covered in coffee

Truthfully I don't know who the Steelers are eying right now but I do feel Hunter will go in the first round. I don't know by who but with his freak athleticism and being 20 years old and from all accounts a smart and high character guy someone will feel they can mold him into an elite pass rusher. He is the epitome of a boom or bust pick but I feel someone will feel the boom out weighs the bust at some point in the first round. Clowney had 3 sacks and it didn't stop him for going #1 overall. I could very well be wrong and Hunter goes in round three but I just have a feeling someone is going to look at him and say in two years I can have him leading the league in sacks.

Defensive end Danielle Hunter (6-5 1/4, 251) had a 36 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-10 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.47 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.95 seconds, which is really fast and shows his tremendous change-of-direction abilities. Hunter ran a 4.57 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine, which was the best time among defensive linemen.

Hunter blew the scouts on hand out of the water with his workout. He started slowly in the pass-drop drills, but ended up having a very good performance. He caught the ball well when dropping into space, and also did a good job in the pass-rush drills. Hunter is described as having great upside. One of the scouts at LSU's pro day said that in his mind Hunter is a better prospect than Barkevious Mingo -- the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns -- was two years ago.
