Roster cuts tracker: Teams trim to 53-player rosters

a wr with bad hands is not helping....

I never understood that decision..

Coates suffered a broken ring finger on his left hand in Week 5 against the New York Jets. He also ripped the web between his index and middle fingers and needed stitches. Rather than undergo surgery, Coates let the finger heal on its own.

What did we get for Coates?

Why? There are number one over all draft picks that are can't miss prospects but fail. This is a lousy 6th rounder. I still don't see the big deal.We took a shot and it didn't pan out.Just like a never team does every year since the draft was started. And again. This was a 6th round pick,

Well, yeah, i get that, but this is a highly-specialized, rarely-drafted position, not some dime-a-dozen practice squad guard. Really, regardless of where a long-snapper is drafted, IF theyre drafted you expct that they'll be getting a spot on the 53. Again, yes, its only a 6th thank God, but its not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison

Holba has to be one of the dumber draft picks in recent history. You draft a Long Snapper, you better make damn sure he's a "can't miss". How do you and a bunch of scouts misdiagnose a guy's one and only skill that severely? That's embarrassing.

Apparently Kameron Cannady from Portland State is the new long snapper.....as he made the final 53 roster. Bizarre.

Very simple question. Do you want the best guy to play or the draft pick? Oh and Vince Williams plays defense and is a 5th. Hargrave is a third. The rest are ones and twos. On offense there is AB, Big Al, Gilbert and a bunch of ones and twos. If they cut a six who cares. Hedged bets.

Couple thoughts:

With David Johnson getting cut, the Steelers are a long way away from the team that valued Mark Breuner blocking TEs.

With Cockrell being traded, I'm guessing Gay definitely makes the team and thinking Tomlin is too good of a friend of this expired player. I predict the amount of bitching about Gay this season will be directly proportional to his playing time.

Little surprised they traded Cockrell as I thought he would have been a top backup in case of emergency. Obviously they thought Sensabaugh can play for the varsity team if needed.

According to a Browns site I just looked at we got a 7th rounder this year and a 6th rounder next year.

I thought we gave them the a 7th and got a 6th. Basically a move up scenario.

I thought we got our 6th back from the Gilbert trade last year.
Which would make the trade Coates and a 7th for Gilbert.
If Coates does well, stains took us for our 6th WR. If not, garbage in, garbage out.

Ahtyba Rubin got released by the Seahawks. Not saying he's worth anything but he might be a slight upgrade on McCullers at this point.

So we traded play books with Cleveland?

Why give them ANYTHING?

I'd rather just we cut Coates than give them any hope.

They would have gotten him anyway with no compensation as per draft pick order if I am not mistaken

I defended the holba pick. A 6th round pick could have been a starter for 10+ years is a good deal. However not sure how they messed up the scouting.
At least we didn't draft a kicker in the second who couldn't make 2 teams

Based on DHB being a horrible WR his entre career with the worst hands in the NFL. Tucker made 2 plays at the end of the game last week that DHB could never have made.

I don't think DHB will be catching much more than special teams duties.

That index finger is fubar without surgery. Those ligaments are going to be an issue. That's a long rehab process.

The thing with Coates is they probably told Cleveland they were cutting DHB unless they traded for Coates... and they probably only wanted to trade him so the Pats wouldn't have any chance to get their grubby little hands on him

Coates was never going to the Pats, They are 32nd in line to get a waiver claim on him.

They just wanted his playbook
