Roster cuts tracker: Teams trim to 53-player rosters

Demarcus Ayers was cut today according to Jeremy Fowler. Hopefully Markus Tucker makes the team.

I was hoping he would make the team but if he clears waivers then maybe practice squad?????

10:44 a.m.: The Colts have released inside linebacker Sean Spence, a source confirmed to IndyStar. The news was first reported by profootballtalk.com. Spence, signed to a free-agent contract in March to compete at the position, never got on track during training camp or the preseason because of missed practice time.

oh well

Robert Davis - WR - Free Agent

Redskins waived WR Robert Davis.

The Redskins are only keeping five wide receivers, though Davis would seem to be an obvious candidate for the practice squad. The sixth-round rookie hauled in 6-of-12 targets for 71 yards during the preseason.

Loved this kid in the draft, maybe a spot on the PS (if Ayers goes elsewhere)

Also, another safety option

Dwight Lowery, FS
Released by Los Angeles (LAC)

This is much more realistic an option to upgrade the back end of the safety position than Ward.

After McDonald and Haden, one can dream.....but you're probably right.

Some more safeties out there

DeAndre Houston-Carson, S Waived by Chicago (CHI)
Robert Blanton, SS Released by Dallas (DAL)
K.J. Dillon, S Waived by Houston (HOU)
Alex Carter, S Waived by Detroit (DET)
Cedric Thompson, FS Waived by Cincinnati (CIN)
James Sample, FS Waived by Jacksonville (JAC)
Dwight Lowery, FS Released by Los Angeles (LAC)

Coates had potential but if bryant isnt an idiot he really has no place on this team....

Plus getting a 6th from Cleveland means we are getting an antonio level player with that pick to make them more miserable

So we traded play books with Cleveland?

Why give them ANYTHING?

I'd rather just we cut Coates than give them any hope.

Lol AB (and Brady) are 1:1000000 type 6th round picks, but I get your drift. ;)

We coulda had a QB

Colts send Dorsett to NE for Jacoby Brissett

Colts acquired QB Jacoby Brissett from the Patriots in exchange for WR Phillip Dorsett.

Brissett lit up the Giants in the final preseason game, completing 28-of-39 passes for 341 yards and five total touchdowns. That was apparently enough to convince Indy he is a better option than Scott Tolzien, but there is almost no chance Brissett is ready to start Week 1. This move suggests the Colts think Andrew Luck could miss a significant chunk of the season. It also hints the Patriots plan to keep Jimmy Garoppolo after this season.

Can we stomach yet another former Browns DB?

Pierre Desir, CB Released by Seattle (SEA)

A little shocked the Hawks cut him after reading this:

While the competition for the Seattle Seahawks starting cornerback position heats up, another name to keep in mind before this weekend’s roster cuts is Pierre Desir.

Desir, who had three tackles, two assists and one sack in Seattle’s first three preseason games, has caught the attention of defensive coordinator Kris Richard, who praised the four-year corner following Tuesday’s practice.

“Yeah. I think he’s showing himself well,” Richard said. “He’s shown true consistency within the technique. He’s got a tremendous coverage ability and really he’s got a great, fantastic attitude. He’s done everything that we’ve asked of him and he shows up at the big moments. Rarely ever out of position, which has been a really good sign and if you are where you’re supposed to be nine times out of ten, good things will happen.”

Desir has all the makings of a Seahawks corner. He’s tall (6-1) with long arms giving him the length Seattle loves. He’s also a great overall athlete, posting a 133 inch broad jump, a 6.86 three cone, and an 11.6 second 60-yard shuttle at the NFL Combine in 2014. Throw in good hands, smooth hips and a great work ethic, and there’s very little not to like.

Unfortunately for Desir, he had the misfortune of being drafted by the Cleveland Browns, who have a way of sucking the life out of football. After a promising rookie campaign, Desir settled into a role as a nickel corner in year two.

This too was intercepted

Somebody set the suicide watch on Coolie. Hope he finds his way back and not on the Cheaters.

It was reported by Jacob Klinger on PennLive (@Jacob_Klinger) that Ayers said on Tues, if he was waived he would NOT sign on the Steelers practice squad. He said he thought he was the coaches preference to win the starting punt return spot. Guess he really did feel disrespected. Too bad, young players and their "disrespecting" emotions.....some need to grow up.

No kidding. After being drafted in the 7th round, how high did he think the Steelers FO and coaches really think of him?

Feel bad for the kid though, I wish he would have stayed healthy. Looked pretty good at times at the tail end of last year and now returning punts in preseason. Hope things work out for him (and Coolie). ;)

Remember, Ayers came out of college a year early.

Based on what he did his junior year, had he come back he likely would have gone higher in this year's draft.
