Roquan Smith

Would be costly trade and costly contract. With no fifth year option on Bush, he wouldn’t even be a likely piece of the trade?

What would be livable trade cost to upgrade a position that was already costly in trade capital???

Too much cap hit and draft capital. I wouldn't even think we would be considering him for more than a split second.

Reality is the Bears were possibly going to make him the highest paid ILB in the league and he still wanted out.

I don't think we can afford him monetarily or trade wise.

He is also considered the best in the NFL at his position.

He also would like to win and get paid, neither likely in Pittsburgh.
Following his failed QB to another team not likely to even make the playoffs, and being overshadowed by TJ?
I'm sure his agent is on the phone and Pittsburgh is at the top of his list!

With a pretty conscientious family as the Rooney's you'd never guess they would have a tight Kuntz and a hairy Bush on the roster...... but they do.!

Anything is possible in "Merica

Steelers do plenty of winning just not enough where it matters most. Let's not get it twisted.

Meh he would be great, but he is gonna cost a lot to pry him out of Chicago and he costs more than our cap… you cannot have all the stars, and the D really should not need more help

He is a head case. Me first attitude. Once he said the FO “doesn’t appreciate“ him, that’s all you need to know. He wants a huge contract, but doesn’t have the numbers for it.

It would be a very costly acquisition for sure and may be a pipe dream. If it did happen we would be sitting with the best defensive line and linebackers in the league and one of the best safeties for at least the next 2 years. What will completely suck is if he goes to the Ravens and I think that’s a more likely reality if Chicago let’s him go.

I agree, this is the type of acquisition the Ravens are probably vigorously pursuing and I'd be shocked if they're not on the phone. The only caveat is they still don't know what Jackson is going to cost but I'm not sold that they are going to give him what he demands and they may have already come to a conclusion regarding that.

Just read an article on the PG. He mentioned the cap hit but also possibly trading Claypool or DJ and some draft picks (not a 1st rounder) to the Bears. I could stomach that move but I hate giving up No. 1's plus immediate huge cap hit. He's probably looking at $20 million per year but our D would be stacked for years with Watt, Minkah and him plus cheaper pieces to fill in the rest.

Is Smith nasty?
It's vital we employ a LB that is both great and nasty.

It's Steeler tradition dammit!

We need a nasty LB to compliment Watt
TJ Watt is great, but a gentleman.
Ham and Russell were gentlemen, Lambert nasty.
Greene was great, but LLoyd was the nasty one.
Among Farrior, Porter and Foote, Porter was the nasty one.
Harrison took Porter's spot.

Lost internet while posting.

We would probably have to push on of our guys salaries into the future to get him. I am kinda hoping we are done with that

Bush and Claypool for Smith

It’d be sweet to land him but just too spendy for inside backer
