Was Nix inactive yesterday? I thought they'd use him in those 4th and short situations...

That would make too much sense for our coaches, just like the QB sneak.

Well to be fair he did get stuffed for no gain twice form the 1 yard line a couple weeks ago.

QB sneak is the way to go, but even Nix would be better then that stupid sweep.

Nix played special teams. I find it odd he wasn't utilized at all in the FB capacity (like everyone else), in short yardage situations.
Too complicated coach?

Yeah generally you don't want to bang it up the middle with a fullback against a team with undersized super quick linebackers. It's preferable to stretch it outside with pulling TE's. Uh yeah good job Haley!

But that is still a great highschool play to run each offensive set, right?

Maybe if earlier in the season when we ran Bell on 4th and short right up the gut and got stuff our coaching staff would have had the confidence of doing it again yesterday if he actually got the first. Also I believe Nix was run up the middle and stopped a couple of times. For all the money we pay our interior OL they just don't create space for us on short yardage situations. That all said I would have still liked to have seen us do just that...run right behind Pouncey and DeCastro with Nix leading. My first option though would have been the QB sneak that the coaching staff deleted from the playbook.

Even more stupid was running the sweep to the short side of the field.

I thought I saw a 3-4 plays where we lined up in the I and he was a lead blocker for Bell and we got 5-6 yards each time. Of course, that worked, so in typical Haley fashion we stopped doing it.
