Pittsburgh isn't getting a Super Bowl. Cleveland isn't getting one with that warehouse they're building out there either.Again they said tge same stuff about three rivers then dramatically switched their tone and wanted a new stadium... its always " renovations" then the new stadium BS... if Dulac said thats their ultimate anglr, it is.. they are just testing the waters now.
Remember 3 rivers opened in 1970... by the early 80's they wanted modern renovations on the taxpayer dime... by the early 90's they wanted more renovations that morphed into the new stadium talks as it became apparent the Pirates would get their own park.
The Steelers want a super bowl worthy stadium and have since detroit hosted one.. this is the first step towards that...
When insiders are saying one thing and the official stance is different, its usually posturing or just testing public opinion...
Remember, pittsburgh voted down the new stadium plans in the 90's only for them to do an end around with the state...
If they tried that again , people like me who are still pissed about it probably would try to get a public amendment on the ballot restricting that going forward..
It's a combo of the lame city management, and the taxes, both property and income. It won't take long under the new tax situation in Indiana to recoup the funds, for sure. Further, it will mean more income for the ownership, and possibly a superbowl. It clearly will mean more tax money for Indiana, so I bet they are dangling a sweet tax deal for taxes or land price to the Bears to make all of it happen.
