Romo why Romo

As a player I thought he was a frail prima Donna with a decent arm. I'm as surprised as anyone that he can commentate. I like him despite his NFL failures.

I haven't watched a game with the sound on at my house all year. Try it...it's great.

Over Gruden, Nantz, Simms, Fouts, ... I could probably go on and on. Who in the hell was that NFL Network guy a couple of years ago? THE worst whoever he is.

Agreed.
He's a decent commentator.
No complaint from me.

Nantz on the other hand. Dude jizzes everytime NE touches the ball

Love Romo... He talks about the game like a player and a fan. He's not vanilla (like Simms) and he's not dull as hell (like Collinsworth). He gets excited about what's going on... well, so do we! His calls and analysis are spot-on...

...and he's actually helped Jim Nantz become a better play-by-play guy. He's brought a lot of energy to the booth.

Can't stand Romo on catches..."Let's take a look at it Jim....oooooo,ohhhhh, uhhhh i dunno." And this is on a catch of which there is no doubt. And every third down is huuuuge to this guy.

I believe Romo is doing well with his game commentary. A far cry better than some other former players. He does need to stop 'ooh, aaahing' though.

Yes, Nantz has had to elevate his game big time since Romo came to the booth. Then again, when you work with Phil Simms it has to be tough.

I think Romo is pretty darn good for a first year boy.....Ya'll are brutal here....

Romo talks a little too much at times, maybe gets too excited at other times, but he at least analyzes the game. He breaks it down better than any other color commentator in the the business and it's really not close. Meanwhile, half of our games we are stuck listening to Dan Fouts, who brings absolutely nothing to the table.

That's pretty much where I'm at. He definitely analyzes the game within the game and breaks things down pretty damn accurately. He's new and excitable so he sometimes sounds like a teenager who just sprouted their first pube, but we could be dealing with a lot worse IMO.

Yep. There was the one clear reception yesterday and he was making noises like it was a questionable call and needed to go under review. There was no need for it and it took away from the moment of the game. Still, I'll take those moments given his overall analysis as opposed to the former players who sound like they don't even know what sport they're watching.

The part I like is when he questions a "ref" on their call. we don't get to hear it to often as I'm sure he is TOLD TO SHUT THE **** UP when it comes to officiating calls. Once in awhile he slips though and I love that.

PS He is a lot better than anyone they've had lately.

Salute the nation

In Romo's rookie year as a broadcaster, he has changed commentating and is the best announcer for football currently. Remember when MNF kept trying to find the next great announcer? A Howard Cosell type that could captivate audiences with his knowledge, passion, and penchant for turning a phrase? MNF has failed each and every year trying to hit that mark. CBS hit the lottery and not only do I think Romo is the best, but in his first year, he's already on the top announcing team with Nance, getting all the prime time, TNF, and playoff matchups.

That's pretty unheard of guys. You just don't go from never announcing to being the top squad in your first year. You usually have to work your way up. Romo has IT. he's likable, knowledgeable, funny, and has a passion for the game. He makes watching games even more exciting, and that is what you want from any announcer.

Tony is also refreshing in that he's the first of his kind for NFL announcing to talk to the audience to bring you in, as opposed to the stoic baritone voices talking at you, dictating what they see, in a sterile, boring, monotone voice that puts you to sleep. Hopefully Romo is the new pattern that all future NFL announcers are cut from.

I hope he doesn't change as he gets further away from being a player. he shares insight that most dont only thing I don't like is as another has said, when he trys to create drama on an obvious catch. ahhhhhhhhh ohhhhhh did he hold on through the play I am not suuuuuure ok he did.
