well, if he comes back, he's at home and can work out the kinks in a game that some here say doesnt matter.
Agreed. But I also think that if he isn't well enough to start, then he shouldn't even dress for the game.

MCLs is usually 4 to 6 weeksNot sure I understand how people are claiming its way too early. This isn't like you or I have this injury. He's being constantly treated by the best doctors in the world. If he's good to go he plays. If he isn't then reevaluate next week.
Really. That is some amazing logic. A third is not that different from a fifth. So hell I guess the Ravens at 1-4 are practically tied with the Bengals at 5-0.... You can lose 6 games in a season and still easily make the playoffs.
10-6 cruises to the playoffs this year in the AFC. 9-7 will make it, but it will of course need to be the correct 9-7 in terms of conference wins.
I see no way Ben sees action this week unless Tomlin is a hell of a lot dumber than I think he is.
Not that hard. 11-5 always in, 10-6 (very, very rarely not in) 9-7 becomes the crap shoot. Now when you look how the first third has gone there is a whole lot of 2-3 and 1-4 in the AFC and not many of them are 2-3 like the Sea Hawks where you go, that isn't a 2-3 team. I would play him if the doctor says it is no more of a risk and he feels good to go. If they can't go 8 and 3 in the remaining games it really wouldn't matter. He is hurt. Over. Not sure how you can say this with any certainty with over 2/3rds of the games remaining. The landscape can change dramatically by the end if the season.

Not that he can't heal quicker than some, but with that time table....... I can see why people are thinking a return would be too soon.
I wonder if Ben will have a repeat MRI before returning..........

MCL sprain is 2-4. The bone bruise is what they claimed would make it longer. They said he would be in pain from this. He isnt. Said he has no pain.
A minor, or grade 1, MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports.
A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal.
A grade 3 tear usually takes from four to eight weeks to heal, unless it is associated with damage to the ACL, in which case the recovery time may be longer.

Unfortunately we do not know the degree of sprain, but I am thinking it is either a 2 or 3.
if he has no pain, then the issue is being stiff and/or getting back into shape. I doubt he's been running on a treadmill for the past few weeks, but conceivably could have been doing work in the pool to maintain muscle strength.
As was said, Ben at 50% is better than Vick at 100% in this offense. Haley CAN alter the play calling to get the ball out of Ben's hands quicker, as we did that a year or two ago with quite some efficiency. I know he went a stretch of games where he wasn't sacked a lot (for him).
Someone said that the issue with the bone bruise was it could increase the chance of the bone breaking. I've not seen anything about that on any of the medical sites I've browsed looking for this.
Again... extra cautious is the way to go here... the rally cry ought to be "Remember Bradshaw's shoulder"
