Roethlisberger moves into 13th on NFL list for career passing yards

Actually, Ben is now 14th.

Didn't know he was that high on the list. Of course, I didn't realize Testeverde, Bledsoe, and Kerry Collins were #9, #10, and #13, respectively, either.

Awesome Ben. Get well soon HoF QB.

Who cares?

How does this apply to the Steelers winning this season?

He is 31,000 yards behind Manning, stats are easy in today's NFL, hell he passed two QBs today who are vastly superior to him,Unitas, the greatest NFL QB ever and Montana who is a top 5 all time QB. Put those two in today's game and their numbers would dwarf Mannings and Brady's much less the far inferior numbers of Ben.

And if Manning played in the 1980s his career would already be over due to neck injuries because he is protected now. And if not for the midseason rule changes of 2010, Timmons and Mitchell would break every bone in Edeleman's body on those little dink routes the way they did Welker.

Give Ben some credit -- the guy is likely to top 50,000 passing yards in his career, heck if not for injuries this year he'd likely finish halfway there. He's on the verge of being a first ballot Hall of Famer (had they won Super Bowl XLV he'd be a lock regardless).

Oh, and passing yards aside, Ben has done it with success -- Kerry Collins, Vinny Testeverde and Drew Bledsoe weren't a 3rd the QB Ben has been.

Never mind Manning has played 6 more seasons than Roethisberger and is about to be #1 passing yards all time. Is Larry Bird not a legendary player even if he has less points than Karl Malone?

"Coral" Malone (anyone remember jimmy kimmel on the man show 15 years ago?)

Thats the issue with judging players between eras, there is no definitive way to determine if even the best in one era would be ok in another.... Maybe montanna or unitis cant read the Complicated adaptive highbrow coverages that came into play in the last two decades, maybe the size and speed of todays corners and linebackers runs a ton of those older HOF Qbs out of town, since Interceptions were more commonplace back then with the slower guys in there anyhow, Maybe most of the modern guys are destroyed by how physical the game was 20 to 30 years ago, maybe the lack of the over the middle throw exposes them or the all out destruction of a WR at the line disrupts the rythm passing game.... we will never know....

In any case if I had to bet on a QB from this era being able to play in an earlier era, it would certainly be Ben... his game was very simular to some of the older school QBs for years... I actually think he would be better in an era where the coverages were more basic

These numbers are great and all but to be honest I'd rather see Ben add to his SB collection. That's the only number I really care about. Bet so does Ben.

Great win

To tell ya the truth, I thought the Raiders were gonna come back and win. I know Ben is hurt but at least he should be back after the bye.

Ya, he's not that special...

...Roethlisberger, who passed for 334 yards with two touchdowns and a pick during an afternoon in which he moved past Hall of Famers Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana and into 13th on the NFL list for career yards passing.

F'n game manager...

During the early years he was holstered and ratcheted down a bit. I think it helped him develop confidence overall. But since hes gotten under Tomlin/Haley, hes somewhat exploded. I honestly didn't think he was that high up on the all-time passing list. I think by the time he's done he could be top 5. Well, maybe top 8....there's still Manning, Brady, Brees tossing the skins currently

His yards per attempt is ridiculous. He flat out blows away the current "stars". Ben doesn't throw 3 yard passes.

That's what makes him special. He's a REAL quarterback. The guy would have been a GOD in the 70s and 80s.

Johnny Unitas' 40K yards is the most impressive passing yard stat on the list of passing yards leaders. He accumulated those yards from 1956 thru 1973 not the age of the forward pass and the defenses weren't handcuffed by the league. He averaged 2.2K per year in an era when running the football dominated every offense and they only played 12 or 14 game seasons that's an incredible stat and the reason he is still considered by many to be the GOAT. I'm thinking Ben will end up with about 55K which isn't anything to sneeze at. I'm hoping Ben collects another Lombardi or two.

But did they have to cheat to get those numbers like Brady? That's the real question...

Don't confuse them with facts. Want another fact that shows the uselessness of passing yards, Vinny Testeverde threw for over 47,000 yards, yeah an all time great.

Unitas would be great in any era and to the poster thinking today's game is all about intelligence, LMFAO, almost every QB completes over 60% of Their passes in today's mediocre NFL.

Ben has completed 450 more passes than Unitas for the same number of yards with 32 less TDs, he is a drink and drunker compared to Unitas and the QBs of that era as are ALL the QBs of this pass friendly dunk and dunk NFL.
