Rivers retiring

Rivers was the guy that the Steelers were most enamored with in 2004.

I would argue he would have had similar success in Pittsburgh, because he was f’n good. They would have had no choice but to address OL with him vs. Ben, but the Steelers organization is far and away better than that of San Diego.

Anyone who thinks Ben wouldn’t have had success in San Diego is an idiot as well. Super Bowls...probably not because the Chargers & Alex Spanos would prevent any QB from winning it all. Archie Manning knew what he was doing advising Eli Manning away from there.

Fact is all 3 reached similar levels which constitutes the least respected great QB Draft class ever

They fired Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season... all you need to know

Rivers is damn good, I agree, but no way in hell he's winning a Super Bowl or making another Super Bowl with that Oline from 2007 to 2010.

Too much "what ifs", butterfly effect, ripple effect here.
Things would not have played out EXACTLY the same way had Rivers played here and Ben played in SD.
Sorry, but Rivers is a MUCH more cerebral QB than Ben will ever dream of being.
Likewise, Ben is MUCH more physically gifted QB than Rivers would be capable of being.
Both QBs are tough, team oriented gamers.
Pittsburgh obviously had far superior defenses during their times.
Rivers had Tomlinson in his prime, while Ben had Bettis in his twilight and Bell for a couple good years.
I think for comparison sake, as previously mentioned, it's a matter of ownership and GMing that's the biggest difference.

Eli, Philip, and Ben are ALL going into the HOF and deservedly so.
