Rivers retiring

NO he wouldn't look good in black and gold, not hire for vet minimum, don't care if he was used properly just don't bring him in.

It's time for him to get on with his life's work, which is apparently making babies........................

Pretty cool that he’s going to be coaching high school and I think that’ll be a great experience for his future team. In the NFL, he definitely made things entertaining and I am impressed he last as long as he did with that throwing motion.

Ben is the last man standing!

Maybe as it depends on if we can get him OL help..........................

I hear yaz though and who would have thought that would be the case. With as much abuse as BEN ROETHLISBERGER took through out his career, honestly it's amazing he is still standing. Arguably the worst OL in the NFL for 5 years coupled in with an OC who literally wanted him to hold the ball 5-7 seconds on every drop back. Death row seemed more like it every time he dropped back.

ALSO take into the fact that BEN never got any preferential treatment by the officiating of any kind. It seemed more like they turned their respective eyes the other way and let it be open game on him at times.

Now I'm seeing an idiot from 93.7 the fan, say an ex player just texted him and said Rivers would've done the same as Ben if he were in Pittsburgh, and Ben wouldn't have had the career he did if he was drafted by SD.
1. Rivers would never survive behind those lines we had, let alone win with them.
2. Rivers didn't have nearly the arm strength Ben did, can't see him doing alot in the cold.
3. Ben was so much more clutch than Rivers.

I'm assuming Justin runs the SteelerNation twitter, but he had an all time great reply, "so Josh Harris texted you"

I enjoyed watching Rivers here at NCSU. got to see him live a few times. Always knew he would do well in the NFL despite the awkward arm slot. Guy is football smart and had a nice touch on his passes. Was a helluva good QB class. Reminds me that the day we picked Ben, I was painting the living room. I jumped up and down when we picked him and nearly hit the ceiling fan with the wet paint brush. A much better reaction than when we took that mini receiver edwards over john tate. Wish Rivers luck in his next life stage.

I think Rivers is better than Ben at this point, but what made Ben so good in his prime was the ability to complete passes with guys hanging on him or being able to shake guys off.

So much gushing over philip.. makes you wonder how they are going to react when ben retires... most will give lip service to his career then downplay everything he has done

Yep, it'll be look at his defense, look at all the weapons he had, even though he's the reason those weapons were any good.

Phillip Rivers was a very good QB. He is fantasy football HOF material. Not real football HOF. He was a good stat guy and lost probably 3/4 or more games where most things were equal. Not even close to Ben.

Phillip Rivers = modern day Dan Marino

And though Marino never won a championship he won many big games. I'm not sure who I'd compare Phillip or as I call him Phoebe. I think he is in his own class of personal stats but no team achievement.

Warren Moon

Yeah at the NFL level maybe. I believe Four or Five straight Grey Cups in Canada. And I never felt Warren was responsible for losses. The way Phoebe played I always felt he was the reason they lost inn the playoffs.

You are partly correct but his biggest asset is the fact that he is still able to look down field while guys are hanging on him. BEN's Arm stregnth was much stouter than Phillips' which allowed him to make the throws and NO, RIVERS ISN'T BETTER THAN BEN today or yesterday OR anyday for that matter. BEN's latest is a "system failure" not neccessarily Ben's failure. We will find that out next year.

Dan Marino was the greatest pure passer ever... he did what he did without the middle of the field being an option... that dude would have thrown for 100k in this pussified game

No kidding. This watered-down bullshit version of football would be a dream for a passer like him.

Rivers was the guy that the Steelers were most enamored with in 2004.

I would argue he would have had similar success in Pittsburgh, because he was f’n good. They would have had no choice but to address OL with him vs. Ben, but the Steelers organization is far and away better than that of San Diego.

Anyone who thinks Ben wouldn’t have had success in San Diego is an idiot as well. Super Bowls...probably not because the Chargers & Alex Spanos would prevent any QB from winning it all. Archie Manning knew what he was doing advising Eli Manning away from there.

Fact is all 3 reached similar levels which constitutes the least respected great QB Draft class ever
