I would have much rather had Smith than Green in hindsight. Smith wasn't taken because the #7 pick the previous year was a running back Tim Worley. He was highly productive in college and merited a high pick, his problems was he wasn't into football. Drugs and thugging was his priority, and he was suspended for a whole year for failing to take 2 drug tests. He didn't mature until after he left the league. He's been a positive force and a public speaker since he found God, I just wish he found him earlier.
Honestly though Emmitt would have been a monster for us. Foster had killer years behind this line and was an Emmitt clone, minus the fact that Emmitt was a much superior pass catcher. The Steelers may have faired better in the AFCC game against San Diego, and Bam Morris had 70+ yards in the SB. If we had Emmitt he would have had over 100 easy.
Only big negative. If the Steelers had Smith, they never would have made a move for the Bus.
