Report: NFL Owners Suggested 18-Game Schedule With 16-Game Limit for Players

4 games then a bye week for everyone.
8 games, then a bye week for everyone. First three are all divisional games.
4 games. Last 3 are divisional games.

Ditch Thursday night games.

Bye week 1. Have those skills competitons they used to have. Qbs throwing at moving targets for points. Kicker competition. No races or anything that might cause hamstring or knee issues, though. NFL community outreach BS that they live so much.

I like part of your IDEA ark but the drive of change is Greed and the NFL is a huge GREED machine so.......... no weekends totally off, money loser for them.

The publicity from the two weeks off ought to bring in some more viewers and get that money back on the actual games. Including advertising. They'd be televising this ****, especially, the skils stuff and the community service stuff.
 
I don't know about you guys, but the thought of having a back up QB for 2 games when your starter is healthy doesn't sound to enticing to me. Just my .02 cents.

I believe QBs and punters/kickers are excluded from the rule. But how do you force your All Pro left tackle who protects your QB sit or your shutdown CB?

Ahh, I wasn't aware of that fact. Thanks. To your other point, I agree completely. With games being as close as they are already, I sure as hell wouldn't want my QB's blindside to be blindsided because of a 2nd or even 3rd stringer(in the case of an injury) scrub couldn't do his job effectively.
 
Raymond foster said it best via Twitter, paraphrasing here. y’all are really saying not all games matter, do you really want to have to use a backup kicker for 2 games, what about protecting your Qb, ect ect it was 3 days ago. He suggested just expanding the playoffs that way you get more games people will watch instead of watered down games that nobody will buy tickets for.
 
how much does a ticket cost? you really want to pay that money to see Ben on the bench and Dobbs on the field running for his life?

18/16 seems like a stupid idea. Would probably turn into two throw away games at the beginning of the season. Basically getting everyone to pay regular season game money for exhibition games. Nobody is going to want their best players on the bench down the stretch. Would also need to increase the roster and salary cap.

This topic is all posturing by league for the up coming CBA. Plain and simple. Part of the give/take negotiation between the league and NFLPA. If the players are adamant not to play more games, something else will be added/eliminated from the agreement.

My thoughts exactly Ike, NFL front office has been up top posturing for some time now. MY biggest uestion is what posturing are they doing about the give and take on the "soul" power of the commissioner???? You can dang well bet that is a craw in the players hip and they are going to want to lower his dictatorship type power.

This new CBA is going to be interesting to see play out and I've said it before and I'll say it again, be prepared as I think we will witness another "strike" type season.

Oh I think they know full well they are not getting an 18 game season unless major concessions are offered by the league/owners. Reduction in commish powers? More piece of the network pie?Elimination of the 5th year rookie clause? All game for the NFLPA to negotiate with. Don’t believe what De Smith is saying about a stoppage and setting up a war chest for the players to compensate. Neither side wants to miss out on the BILLIONS available.

the owners proposed plan is ******* stupid and your suggestion of more games at neutral sites or international games is also ******* ignorant. I don't give one damn bit about the money the makes on international games. Taking home games away from the home team fans is wrong.
 
Cut the preseason from 4 games to 2. Yeah I know, ain't gonna happen.
