Really NFL?

I think we were talking about this in another thread. But every year it is something stupid.

Wait until the game where they eject a Steeler with a bullshit call.

Probably against the *s.

Definately a bullshit call but WTF,..........haven't you watched the cheater's win multiple championships with bullshit calls???????? The NFL has been dead for quite awhile now it's the body still twitching.

I think this is what we all expected. Working as intended as long as there are judgement calls that are not reviewable, the NFL will be a shitsow.

That call was just plain ridiculous. Where do they find these guys that referee these games? That call just shows plain incompetence.

The move right now is to call it very very very tight in the preseason. This way it looks like they are doing something about injuries, specifically head injuries. Over the course of the season this will be enforced less and less. It's just a PR move right now, I think it will drift away.

(The above is not my own opinion, but rather that of Some solid reasoning I've read)

The enforcement of this rule will be directly proportionate to the out come of games that are proportionately decided by "BIG MONEY". It will feel like they are picking on the STEELERS and to some degree that is correct but the STEELERS are the winningest franchise since the merger and thus more than likely in the more decided or attentioned games.

I don't buy the head injury story anymore. Players now a days know exactly what they are getting into. If they don't want to take that chance of having issues later on in life then don't play. Why doesn't the NFL just make every player sign a waiver stating they know there is a chance later on in life there might be an issue. Play at your own risk.

Fans should boycott this crap with signs at the stadium.* A feather touching a player can draw a flag these days,

I believe I have heard there have been 32 PF called so far this preseason. I think they're calling it so tight to get players ready for a new rule. I can't think the NFL, which is about $$$$, would water down their product this much going into the season. It already is at the point where after EVERY big play on O/D, I wait to cheer for fear of a flag. If the NFL DOES insist it be called this tight, defense will be a thing of the past, and I guess that may favor the offensive heavy Steelers.

I was on the fence about buying the NFL ticket this year. They put crap like this in and failed to kill the protest at work crap. No thanks. You really have to laugh at what it's become.

If that play happens 100 times, I wouldn't expect a flag out of those 100 times. No H2H or launching. Just a football play and tackle. If I was a QB and saw that, I'd be pissed. They are taking the basic fundamentals away from the game.

I really don't blame the officials, they are only doing what the NFL office tells them to do, and they are just trying to keep their jobs.

Put an orange jersey on all quarterbacks, they have to remain in the pocket at all times and cannot advance the ball. 2 hand touch and the play is dead.

Who knows where this crap is going It would not surprise me if the NFL put concussion protocol people in a game day medical BLUE HELMET with a team logo on it.

I'm holding out hope that in the regular season, the refs will only be calling the egregious examples of lowering the head. It is ridiculous to call a defender for lowering his head when the runner does it first. That's simply tracking your target.

The #1 rule of football, over anything else, Low man wins.

The runner sees contact so he gets low, both to brace himself for contact and to try to push forward for those last yards after contact. The defender likewise must also go low to match or he'll simple be run over.

It's not a real rule anyway. It's pretty obvious that it's just a CYA publicity stunt, so the NFL can point to themselves doing everything they can to protect the players safety. That's why it's so vaguely worded. If the intention was anything but optics, it would be clearly defined.

Even the catch rule, as complicated as it was, had very specific wording. This new helmet rule may as wel say blah blah blah, we care about safety, blah blah.

If refs keep calling this penalty every week, then what will happen next is defenders start shooting for legs which will lead to a bunch of knee injuries.
