Rats jumping ship?

Jesus Christ, what a bunch of ******* in this thread. Why don't you drop off all your Steelers gear at the local salvation army.

News flash -- the Steelers went to a SB, 4 AFC Championship games from 1994 to 2001.... Without a franchise QB. Have to build the defense back up, but dumbasses saying we will be in the basement of the North for a decade are just that..dumbasses!

The Steelers need to have a good off-season. If they sign no one and do ****** in the draft then they'll probably be 7-9 next year. I don't expect this to happen.

The organization isn't in disarray. There was nothing they could do about Bell holding out. The dude didn't even know what he was doing until hours before the deadline. Had Mack never gotten traded and signed to a big contract he probably would've shown up week 1.

AB lost his mind last year. He has some personal issues and for all we know the Steelers have tried to help or settle him down. Regardless they haven't won **** with him, so they can certainly do it without him.

Lastly Ben won SBs with Ward, Wilson, and Randle El. Besides, they know how to plug and play WR. CB is there issue.

You had me through most of your post.

Then comes the tricky part with AB and your Ward etc. references. It was overall production. Steelers really need Washington to take the next step and for another WR to join in the fray. Or even better a draft pick and a free agent. You can overcome AB but not with what is on the roster right now.

This off-season can very well be Tombert's most important ever.

I am with you on the bottom banter, the team under Ben will never be. Provided he is healthy.

But they also won't be better than slightly above average unless they start making better decisions.

The STEELERS are a very SOLID organization. This is Art 2 first real taste of disfunctional and it was caused by two players and lack of dicipline from the HC. Art 2 addressed the AB situation with a press conference and said the right things etc. Some fans here read post(s) and like talking heads they multiply what they have read. Next thing yaz know, the cliff is right in front and we are full steam ahead.

Our HC is a little in game shakey and WHY on earth is Danny WAD still employed.............. I know we don't see things on the daily but ST is interchangeable coaching and 29th isn't the bar.

Shades is going to have to step up his off season game along with COLBERT as he is MORE accountable for these off-season moves needed. START with MAX value obtainable and AB gone.

ONE last thing **** t*mmy b*y and the entire MASShole empire..!!!

Your point being...........Hairball and lesser talent similar to the GREAT talent Cool Shades has put together on "D"???? I'm saying hair ball get more outA his **** than TOMLIN gets out his...........

Salute the nation

Well, my point is, obviously, that he put together a **** talented team that missed the playoffs for 3 straight years (5-11, 8-8, 9-7) and was one and done this year? From the stories here, one and done in the playoffs indicates poor coaching and he didn't even make it for 3 straight years one of those winning only five ******* games. They had a good D this year, but that doesn't make the whole team. It is a TEAM game and his team, over the prior 3 years lost out to a TEAM that Tomlin put together. Tomlin took this team to the AFCCG just two years ago with a **** D. Seems like a "better" coach with a better D ought to be able to do, at least, that, right?

So, he may be OK getting "something" out of the guys but if a coach is responsible for not only that, but also for the team that is on the field, he seems to be **** at that.

That and your GM and scouting department.

see what I mean about excuses for other coaches?

Is it our GM and scouting departments fault for giving Tomlin defensive players that play like **** and can't learn?

A combination of all three.

The difficult decide because it is unknown is which person Colbert or Tomlin is responsible for moving a player up and down their draft board.

Or is it a case by case player by player decide.

They are telling us that they share responsibilities. But I would love to know which one actually moves a player up or down or is it both.

And there has been some good D picks. Watt, Hargrave which doesn't get talked about much.

I for one will never give Colbert a free walk because his name is in the pile too.

But we know this team has a lot more issues than talent. There is also scheme and coaching issues. And of course Colbert isn't responsible for that.

Same GM and scouting department that brought the last SB team together too. Is it really too hard to admit that this coaching staff has failed in developing players. In your eyes, Tomlin is not responsible for anything at all. He is simply a figurehead that talks to the media obviously.

A coach that has been around for this long gets final say, it's just the way it is, and I believe Tomlin has said as much. He also said he hand picked Bruce Davis. I don't think Colbert suddenly forgot how to draft in 2007 and suddenly changed his drafting philosophy.
Yes Colbert does need so blame though too.

Well, Watt was a no-brainer when he fell to us. I'd say the same about DeCastro and Pouncy, too.

My guess is that, due to their tenure with the teams, Harbaugh and Tomlin both have a great deal of influence on the picks. The FO makes the final decision but is unlikely to choose a player the HC didn't have ranked up there. For newer HC's (especially, if this is their first HC job), I'd expect them to have less influence, but I have been told, from Day 1, almost, that every player picked since Tomlin became coach has his hands all over it.

This is why I say, when you start the argument with "if Coach A had this talent..." what else you say is meaningless. Coach A has the talent he has because he helped pick those players.

Clearly, you have me figured out. Oh, wait, nvm, you have it all wrong.

See, in the eyes of some here, Harbaugh is a better coach. Completely discounting a 5-11 season, an 8-8 season that tomlin is excoriated for and one and done in the playoffs. Apparently, Harbaugh has zero to do with the talent on the field, well, except for the D because they were good this year. Tomlin has 100% to do with the talent on the field, well, except for the offense. I'm pointing out hypocrisy.

No ark. This was all settled when cowher was here. Donahoe got fired over it. Head coach makes the calls on who we get.

To say it is meaningless is ridiculous. If Cowher had Ben his entire tenure, OBVIOUSLY we would have won more games. GM's and Coaches pick the players available at the time, with the picks they are awarded. For every Ben, there are 10 more RG3, Ryan Leaf...etc. If you really want to judge a staff, look at who they passed up based on their college achievements and further NFL career. Would you blame the Steelers for not selecting Tom Brady in round 5? Nobody could forsee based on his time at Michigan that he would become one of the best QB in NFL history. It is far from a perfect science, but to look at the defensive players we picked up before 2010 to what we have selected since, there was an OBVIOUS philosophical change to what we were looking for.

Harbaugh is responsible for his team, just as you guys consider Tomlin responsible for this one. Clearly, in the other post, I've said as much. That doesn't mean, "aha, he missed out on THIS player", because one player shouldn't make or break your team. It means, their ****** Offense is as much his doing as their D. As such, he hasn't, IMO, shown that he is better putting together a TEAM.

Yes....this version of the Steelers has to go.

Morgan Burnett requests his release from Steelers

Another day, another veteran wanting out of Pittsburgh.

This time it's safety Morgan Burnett, who told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that he wishes to be released from his deal before free agency begins in mid-March.

Burnett joined the Steelers in 2018 from the Green Bay Packers, with whom he had spent the first eight seasons of his career. The safety dealt with a groin injury earlier in the year but played in 11 games, starting two, and recorded 30 tackles and six passes defensed.

The safety expressed to Rapoport a desire for a new start and a chance to play safety again. Burnett often played dime linebacker in Pittsburgh, or as he described it to Rapoport, "out of position."

Burnett has two years remaining on a three-year, $14.4 million deal signed with Pittsburgh in 2018. If the Steelers grant Burnett his release, they will take a cap hit of around $2.83 million in 2019.

The safety's demand comes in light of Le'Veon Bell's impending departure and Antonio Brown's potential exit from Pittsburgh.

When Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters earlier this month, "change" was coming to the organization, did he expect this much?

What the heck is going on?

For me I go back n forth with Harb, I think sometimes he overachieves for the talent he has on O, and other times I think he doesn't go as far as he should.

Mixed bag for me and I am not sure if he would be a better or worse option.

I damn sure would take him as a DC.

It should be a rule, anyone that wants a release with more than one year left on their contract, has to pay back the prorated portion of their signing bonus. What would the Steelers gain while losing a safety and $2.3M? You want out. Pay us the $2.3M and you can go wherever you want.

My sentiments as well. Pay pro-rated or play but the problem is if you keep this type of player, they will just not care in their field of play. When an employee comes into my office and gives the two week notice, I just pay them the two weeks and say you're outA here. Keeps them from doing more harm (other employee's mental) than the good of having them there.
