His 1997 was arguably better with 21tds and 17ints.
I'm not trying to to talk Kordell up, but he had some decent seasons in an era when 3000yds and 15-20tds was decent passing production.
As Tom alluded to, he also had three 1000yd receivers between Ward, Burress and Thigpen. I'd be surprised if Jackson ever has one.
Kordell had stretches where he functioned well in the pocket, but he could never sustain it.
21 Tds to 17 Ints... isn't good in any era. Not sure where you got that stat from but In 97 he only had 1 WR get a thousand yards and that was Thigpen. In the year 2001 (The 13-3 season I mentioned) he had 2 1000 yards WR in Burress and Ward. But they were exactly 1008 and 1003 yards. Nobody else had any catches. Almost every QB has a 1000 yard WR. That's just 62.5 yards a game. Hell the rats had 4 WRs with over 550 yards with only one of those guys starting all 16 games.
Kordell was a horrible passer. Yes, he had a few games here and there where he looked ok. But he was never a good pocket passer. He just wasn't and no amount of trying to spin stats is going to change that. His decent seasons came when he had a great defense, OL and running game. He could play action and hit some wide open WRs and some screens. But he was never a good QB. That's why when he left he only started 7 games in his last 3 seasons. All with the Bears. He was 2-5 with 7 Tds and 12 Ints with a 56.8 rating. BTW he was only 30 years old when he left.
