I remember there was a lot of chatter about taking Gregory when we ended up drafting Dupree.

I had him listed as undraftable, and the Cowboys are now reaping the rewards of his substance abuse issues. 4 failed tests in a year. I just don't understand how pot can be more important than a career making ungodly amounts of money.

I know a parallel can be made between Bryant and Gregory, but Bryant was a 4th rd pick, not a projected top 5 pick that fell to the second round.

Snicker...

When it comes to the draft, the NFL has FBI like background reports on players, interviews, and first-hand testimonials from the college coaches, who off the record usually tell the NFL people the truth.

The media and the fans just do not have this type of access.

Gregory's problems with pot were quite public. He admitted to having a serious problem. He and his parents wanted the Cowboys to draft him because the Cowboys are known to babysit their troubled players by hiring a bodyguard / babysitter that is with the player 24/7 trying to keep him out of trouble. That was the only way Gregory had a shot at staying clean.

after the Bell and then Bryant fiasco there was no way the Steelers were drafting Gregory anywhere near the first couple of rounds. I was glad they didn't and went with Dupree and now the suspicions were proven certain

The other question about Gregory was his run defense. He's so lanky that he looks like he could play WR --- how would he be able to set the edge in the running game?

Who wanted Gregory around here?

Actually, Gregory is stronger than he looks, and held up well vs the run.

In 2013 he had 65 tackles.

In 2014 he had 54 tackles ( Played three fewer games )

So say 5 tackles per game or slightly more, most of which were not sacks.

On Dallas, Gregory had a sack for each pre-season for three games and looked like a player in the making before he got hurt. If his head is clear, a huge if, he has the tools.

As for setting the edge in the running game, is that code for Jarvis Jones hidden value :) I assure you its not missed when Harrison plays. Harrison is much better at setting the edge in the running game.

I see this as as make or break year for Uncle Jarvis. I didn't want Gregory due to the high trouble / drug issue. I also hope Jarvis breaks out and gives us what we want from him. H set the edge / sack / KING.!!!!!

Damn, you are funny, Coach, but we're laughing at you, not with you. You're making a point by citing college stats and preseason stats. Hahahahahahaha.

How many really needed to be reminded who wanted gregory?

How do you know this?

Gregory admitted to always waking up wanting a hit. It's wasn't a secret, and it was a poor bet to hook your horse to this player.

I'm totally happy with Durpee !!!!!

I few people liked him. I think Del was one of them. Sports fans can have some big double standards. This guy a druggie, but our guy, no way, he says he clean!

I'm not on record for being for or against Gregory. You are..therefore you are the fan you are talking about. Smh.

Del and Coach were definitely 'not happy' that we passed over Randy Gregory twice.
